The Academy
The rich history of the House of Providence started with Mother Joseph and four nuns from Montreal arriving to serve the educational, health care, social and religious needs in the area.
They took care of physically and mentally ill patients, orphans, indigent and elderly who had noone to care for them.

In order to fund their endeavors Mother Joseph accompanied by a few nuns would make numerous fund raising trips to mining camps for several years.
The Academy also called the House of Providence was the result of prayer, faith and hard work. A statue of Mother Joseph was placed in Staturary Hall in the U.S. Capitol as one of the two figures allowed to every state to represent its important history.
