We are surrounded by beautiful rooms.
Carefully styled spaces Perfect tablescapes. Considered palettes.
And yet, so many gatherings still fall flat
People linger at the edges Conversations stay polite Energy never quite lifts The room looks right but it doesn’t do what it’s meant to do.
At Patina, we spend our days inside rooms as they’re being lived in, not photographed We watch how people arrive, where they hesitate, what draws them together and what quietly keeps them apart
What we’re noticing is a shift
Design is moving beyond how a space looks, and toward how it works emotionally, socially, humanly The most successful gatherings now are the ones designed not just for aesthetics, but for connection, movement and memory
This report isn’t a forecast of trends to follow It’s a reflection of what we’re seeing happen when gatherings are designed with intention and what becomes possible when rooms are shaped around the people inside them.

In rooms where materiality is curated with intention, we feel its influence on how we move, how sound travels, and how light dances across surfaces Even the smallest details texture, weight, the tension between curves and lines shape how we feel and behave Thoughtfully chosen materials invite us in, helping us lower our guard, soften spaces that feel harsh, and warm those that feel exposed

Lush berry and blush tones add warmth and vibrancy, energizing the space while evoking passion and emotional depth, inviting intentions to take root and blossom.

Immersive and enlivening, the friction between warm and cool hues sparks and soothes Earthen Night Bazaar and deep blush Terrarose generate momentum and focused energy, while soft Mystic Blue invites pause and reflection Rich Walnut Shell grounds the composition, balancing warmth and coolness, calling for thoughtful integration

Orchestrated flow between well placed objects creates estuaries for intentional interaction.

What’s emerging: storied vintage that honors shared nostalgia for form, and a revival of richly dimensional textiles. Pieces marked by patina and the human hand signal authenticity and permanence in an increasingly digital world
