Minneapolis, MN • Area in sq. miles: 59 • Population: 425,000 • Shared Use Network 215 existing, plans identify a network of 402 miles of bikeways in total. • Notes: Minneapolis was listed fourth in the nation for best bicycling cities, according to Bicycle Magazine 2018. The Chain of Lakes bike route is over 15-miles long that consists of trails connecting the lakes of Minneapolis.

Portland, OR • Area in sq. miles: 145 • Population: 650,000 • Shared Use Network Envisioned bikeway network of 962 miles by 2030. • Notes: Neighborhood Greenway Projects are on-going projects prioritizing people walking, bicycling, and rolling in Portland’s lowtraffic and low-speed streets. The Portland River Loop Trail is a loop around the river for about 10.1 miles. This is in the heart of the city.

Funding in place to add 10 additional miles of protected on-street bikeways every year. Appendix 2 - Trails ATL Network Descriptions The list below describes individual trails comprising the Trails ATL trail network. How to read this list:

• Look at the detailed map when referencing the alphabetized list below. • Destinations focus on the five places where survey respondents told us they wanted to go: 1. Commercial areas, 2. Parks, 3. BeltLine, 4. MARTA, and 5. Schools. • “Street trails” are trails along public rights of way identified by their specific street alignments; they occasionally have greenway segments. • “Greenways” are trails primarily on public and/or private property away from streets with some street alignments as needed. • “Multi-use” is for pedestrians, wheelchair users, stroller pushers, bicyclists, e-bicyclists, scooter riders, emergency vehicles and maintenance vehicles. It excludes motorcycles, dirt bikes, golf carts, automobiles, and trucks. • Trail types: 1. Protected (greenway, sidepath or street for all), 2. Shared (shared or unprotected bike lane), or 3. Protected and/or shared. • The precise location of trails will be determined in the trail design process and/or the forthcoming Comprehensive Transportation Plan Update. The public will have opportunities for input and feedback on specific trail alignments and designs. • Phase 1 trails are shown in pink and Phase 2 trails are shown in green. 10th Trail • Where: Georgia Tech to Bradey Avenue via 10th Street – 0.9 miles in Districts 3 and 9. • Destinations: Georgia Tech, Upper Westside commercial (with connection via Brady Trail to Westside Park). • Neighborhoods: Marietta Street Artery, Upper Westside, Home Park and Midtown. • Trail Type: Street trail on low and high intensity streets with existing sidewalks and capacity for protected shared-use infrastructure.

14th Huff Trail • Where: from Midtown to Upper Westside via 14th Street to Howell Mill Road then up to Huff Road where it tracks west to Marietta Blvd and the Beltline Northwest Trail – 2.5 miles in Districts 3 and 9. • Destinations: Georgia Tech, Upper Westside commercial, Huff Road commercial, BeltLine Northwest Trail). • Neighborhoods: Blandtown, Home Park and Upper Westside. • Trail Type: Street trail on medium and high intensity streets with existing sidewalks and capacity for protected shared-use infrastructure.

15th Trail • Where: MARTA Arts Center Station to Piedmont Driving Club via 15th Street - 2.5 miles in District 3 and 9. • Destinations: Piedmont Park, Yonah Park, Midtown commercial, Arts Center, Arts Center MARTA Station • Neighborhoods: Ansley Park, Midtown • Trail Type: Street trail on medium intensity street with existing sidewalks and capacity for protected shareduse infrastructure.

17th Trail • Where: from Ansley Park neighborhood to Waterworks via 17th St – 1.8 miles in Districts 2, 3, 6, 9, and 10. • Destinations: Midtown, Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlantic Station, Millenium Gate Park (with connection to Northwest BeltLine via Waterworks Trail). • Neighborhoods: Ansley Park, Midtown and Atlantic Station. • Trail Type: Street trail on high intensity street with existing sidewalks and capacity for protected shared-use infrastructure.

AD Williams Greenway • Where: West Hollowell commercial to Proctor Creek Greenway via Greenway along A.D. Williams Creek – 3.8 miles in Districts 3, 9, and 10. This trail is part of the Carey Park trail network. • Destinations: West Hollowell commercial, Bowen Choice Neighborhood, AD Williams Park and Rec Ctr, Coretta Scott King and Best Academies, AD Williams greenspace (with connection to Riverlands Greenway via Proctor Creek Greenway), MARTA bus via Hollowell Trail. • Neighborhoods: Brookview Heights and Monroe Heights, Center Hills, Collier Heights, Harvel Homes Community, Westhaven, and Harland Terrace. • Trail Type: Street trail on low intensity streets with existing sidewalks and capacity for protected shared-use infrastructure. Adams Park Trail • Where: from Cascade Heights to Campbellton Plaza via Venetian Drive, Wilson Drive, and Delowe Drive – 2.0 miles in Districts 10 and 11. • Destinations: Cascade Heights commercial, Cascade Elementary School, Adams Park Rec Center and Golf Course, Campbellton Plaza commercial. • Neighborhoods: Adams Park, Campbellton Road, and Cascade Heights. • Trail Type: Short segments of greenway near Cascade Elementary and street trail on low to medium intensity streets with some existing sidewalks and capacity for shared-use infrastructure.

Airmen Trail • Where: from Outdoor Activity Center to John A. White Golf Course via Richland Rd and Westmont Rd – 0.8 miles in District 10 and 12tt. • Destinations: Outdoor Activity Center, Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy (with connection to John A White Golf Course and McGhee Tennis Center via John A. White Loop Trail. • Neighborhoods: Cascade Avenue and Oakland City. • Trail Type: Street trail on low intensity streets with some existing sidewalks in varying conditions

Airport Trail • Where: From Peachtree Street at Ted Turner Drive to the city limit at Cofield Drive via Whitehall Street, Murphey Avenue, Sylan Road, Deckner Avenue, Springdale Road, and greenways - 6.6 miles in Districts 4 and 12. • Destinations: Downtown, Castleberry Hill, Sylan Hills MS, Perkerson Park, Metropolitan North, Perkerson ES, Walmart East Point • Neighborhoods: Downtown, Castleberry Hill, Mechanicsville, Pittsburgh, Adair Park, Oakland City, Capitol Hill, Sylvan Hills, Perkerson, Hammond Park • Trail Type: Street trail on medium to high intensity street with existing side walk and bike infrastructure in various conditions. Alvin Trail • Where: from Gun Club development to Terrell Greenway - 0.8 miles in District 9. This trail is part of the Carey Park trail network. • Destinations: Gun Club development including new park and rec facilities (with connection to Boyd ES via Bowen Greenway). • Neighborhoods: Carey Park and Almond Park. • Trail Type: Street trail on medium intensity street with existing sidewalks and capacity for protected shared-use infrastructure. Ansley Botanical Trail • Where: from Midtown to Atlanta Botanical Garden via Peachtree Cir and The Prado – 1.0 miles in District 6. • Destinations: Midtown commercial, Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Piedmont Park (with connection to BeltLine Eastside Trail via Piedmont-Cheshire Trail). • Neighborhoods: Midtown and Ansley Park. • Trail Type: Street trail on medium intensity street with existing sidewalks and capacity for protected Shared-use infrastructure and beautiful landscaping.

Beltline Peeples Ave Access • Where: Beltline Southside Trail across the parking lot at Lee and White to Peeples Street – 0.2 miles in District 4 and 12. • Destinations: Rose Circle Park, Beltline Southside Trail, Lee and White commercial, and Emerald Utoy Greenway. • Neighborhoods: West End and Oakland City. • Trail Type: Short greenway as easement on privately owned parcels to provide access between White Street destinations and the Beltline.

Boone Carter Trail

• Where: Beltline Southside Trail across parking area along parcel boundary - 0.1 miles in District 4. • Destinations: Beltline Southside Trail and White Street. • Neighborhoods: West End and Oakland City. • Trail Type: Short greenway as easement on privately owned parcels to provide access between White Street destinations and the Beltline.

Bishop Crossing Trail • Where: from Loring Heights neighborhood to west side of Atlantic Station via Mecaslin St, Bishop St, a railroad bridge on private property, 18th St – 0.4 miles in Districts 3 and 9. • Destinations: Atlantic Station commercial. • Neighborhoods: Atlantic Station and Loring Heights. • Trail Type: Street trail on medium intensity streets with some existing sidewalks and capacity for protected shared-use infrastructure.

Blue Heron Greenway • Where: from Old Ivy Road through Blue Heron Nature Preserve to Chastain Park via greenway – 2.0 miles in Districts 7 and 8. • Destinations: Sarah Smith Elementary School, Blue Heron Nature Preserve, Chastain Park, DaVinci PS. • Neighborhoods: East Chastain Park, Chastain Park, and North Buckhead. • Trail Type: Greenway on public and private lands.

I live in SW ATL and it’d be great if trails could connect me from MARTA to the plazas and local businesses near me - eg West End and Lee and White. Being able to easily access public transit would be GREAT. But always a fan of being able to access grocery stores and local restaurants via trail.

navigating that on bike much easier I work in and visit Buford Highway/Chamblee often and I don’t even know where I’d start to make that walkable/bikeable. If that would be possible, that’d be amazing! I walked it once and was along a busy street the entire time. I saw so many people on bikes on the sidewalks , where we all felt cramped. I prefer greenways and sidepaths. Streets for all are also great, but I find so many angry drivers will veer into the bike line and park there. I don’t feel very safe on Streets for All.
