Off a meandering road in northern Michigan is a lookout that surveys the great lake that shares its name.

The earth is cradled to the north and south by two glens, and I have caught myself lingering there more than once.

The Ojibwe people were the original custodians of this place, and odayin in Ojibwe means heart. Odayin is the name for my imagined house on the hill overlooking the lake.

This home is a space for family, friends, and the occasional solo escape.
