INFORMATION The vast majority of the dyestuffs used in the textile industry today, most notably in asia are azo-based (contain a nitrogen double bond in their molecular structure).

They are generally prepared from diazonium salts and phenols or aromatic amino compounds — products which are arising from synthetic chemistry that are recognised as being toxic to humans, especially children. They are listed as causing several professional diseases in many european countries.

According to the French Textile and Apparel Institute (IFTH), the main risk of absorption is through skin contact as aromatic amines are lipid soluble. A garment dyed with these substances can contain small quantities of solid dyestuffs that can penetrate the skin, for example during perspiration. The nitrogen bonds break and the freed aromatic amines are assimilated by the body and the decomposition of the amines by enzymes within the organism can cause cancer.

It is for this reason that european directive 2002/61/ec prohibits the use of dyestuffs that can be released by the decomposition of azo compounds and certain aromatic amines. Some 22 amines are listed in the directive.

This has been formalised by the eec regulation nº 880/92 of the council of 23 march 1992, published in the EC journal of 11 april of 1992. EC regulation nº 66/2010 of 25 november 2009 is in force today. It came into effect after 20 february 2010.

Imported garments are not subject to all these regulations.

Picos’ production excludes all azo dyestuffs that can decompose into the listed aromatic amines, dyestuffs classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic to pregnancy according to directive 67/548/eec without forgetting any dyestuffs that are potentially allergenic with perspiration.

La très grande majorité des colorants utilisés dans l’industrie textile aujourd’hui, et notamment dans les pays d’Asie sont des colorants azoïques (contenant une double liaison azote dans sa structure moléculaire).

Ils sont généralement préparés à partir d’un sel de diazonium et d’un phénol ou d’une amine aromatique, produits issues de la chimie de synthèse qui ont été reconnus comme toxiques pour l’homme et particulièrement l’enfant et sont cités dans le tableau des maladies professionnelles n.° 15 ter Selon l’Institut Français du Textile et de l’Habillement (IFTH), le principal risque d’absorption est le contact avec la peau car les amines aromatiques sont liposolubles. Un article textile teint avec un colorant à risque mal fixé présente des solidités teintures plutôt faibles, ce qui peut entraîner, en cas de transpiration par exemple, un dégorgement du colorant sur la peau. La liaison chimique azoïque est alors rompue et l’amine aromatique ainsi libérée est assimilée par l’organisme. Celle-ci, par l’intervention des azoréductases (enzymes dégradant l’amine), peut ainsi provoquer un risque de cancer.

C’est pour cela que la Directive Européenne 2002/61/EC interdit l’utilisation de colorants pouvant libérer, par coupure réductrice de groupements azoïques, certaines amines aromatiques (une liste de 22 amines est donnée dans la Directive).

Il a été institué par le règlement (CEE) N° 880/92 du Conseil du 23 mars 1992, publié dans le JOCE du 11 avril 1992. Le règlement communautaire en vigueur aujourd’hui est le règlement (CE) N.°66/2010 du 25 novembre 2009. Il est applicable depuis le 20 février 2010.

Les vêtements importés ne sont pas soumis à toutes ces règles.

PICOS exclut tous les colorants azoïques qui se clivent en une liste d’amines aromatiques, les colorants classifiés cancérigènes, mutagènes, toxiques pour la reproduction selon la Directive 67/548/CEE sans oublier les colorants potentiellement sensibilisants si solidité à la transpiration.

PICOS PRESENTATION STOCK FABRIC / COLOUR: Our bespoke service in stock fabrics/colours starts at a mere 25 pieces and a lead-time of only 4‑5 weeks.

CUT: We are equipped with a LECTRA SYSTYEM which includes CAD, Laying and an Automatic Cutting Machine. This ensures we can offer you a precision high quality cut, which is an essential step to guarantee the quality and regularity of the production.

DECORATION: We can offer you a full service for embroidering, placement prints, and transfer prints etc.

CUSTOMISATION: Customised labelling, hangtags, single packing and others are also possible.

MAKE-UP: Our in-house atelier of 25 staff gives us the flexibility to manufacture all the samples and small production runs. We also work with local make-up subcontractors, each highly specialised in a specific type of product — polo shirt, sweatshirts etc…

FINAL QUALITY CONTROL AND PACKAGING: All the final quality control and packaging is done in-house.

OUR STANDARD WORK PROCEDURE RAW MATERIAL: We purchase and import the yarn, basically 100% combed cotton yarn (mainly from Turkey and India). We ensure that our suppliers meet guarantees (certificates, etc…) that their products respect standards on child labour and the environment.

KNITTING: All our knitting is subcontracted to highly specialised knitters, who have a wide variety of knitting machines, giving us a wide choice of knits. Our chosen knits represent nearly 90% of the variety that exists worldwide for the manufacture of polo shirts.

DYE / FINISHING: All our dyers meet strict European standards for the environment and are Oeko-Tex compliant. They are equipped with state of the art technology and can offer various types of dyes and finishing processes, ensuring stable, clean and exclusive fabrics. We can also provide you with specific Pantone colours starting at reasonable minimum quantities — see table at the bottom for minimums per fabric type.

FABRIC QUALITY CONTROL: We have our own in-house laboratory allowing us to test each dye lot in terms of colour, weight, shrinkage, twist, etc… These tests are archived for future consultation.

The advantages of PICOS:

SAMPLING: A full service for sampling is offered and can be executed within 5 work days.

DELIVERY AND ASSURANCE OF DELIVERY: Our deliveries are effected within 4 to 5 weeks after all customer approvals are obtained. The same high standards applied to the quality of the fabrics and styles is also applicable to the delivery of the production.

QUANTITIES: Our production runs start at a minimum of only 25pcs. Moreover, within an order, you can mix different men’s, ladies and children’s sizes.

STOCK FABRIC: We have a wide variety of fabrics and colours in stock. All our fabrics can also be dyed up into specific Pantone colours.

READY-MADE STOCK PRODUCTS: The products within our stock catalogue are made with the same fabrics and qualities that we offer for our bespoke service.

FULL SERVICE: Bespoke styles, Embroidery, Printing, Packaging, Labelling, Hangtags, etc. - we deal with all these phases until the final product is ready for delivery to you.

THE CONSTRAINTS OF PICOS

RULES: Being strict with the production implies being strict with of all the other phases. Our 3 main constraints are: 1. We cannot start planning production until everything is approved (styles, size specifications, decorations, labelling etc.); 2. We require a minimum of 5 pieces or multiples of 5 pieces per size; 3. We can only ensure deliveries of plus or minus 5% in relation to the quantities ordered. This is standard procedure within the made-to-measure apparel manufacturing sector.

PRICE: Unfortunately we cannot compete with Asian prices, and are therefore not very competitive in very basic items such as T-shirts — although differences are minor in relation to polo shirts. It is our belief that our abovementioned advantages more than compensate for the price difference of the Asian products.

NOS METHODES DE TRAVAIL

Matière première: Nous achetons nos fils, essentiellement du fils coton. Nous exigeons de nos fournisseurs (essentiellement Inde et Turquie) la garantie (certificats, labels..) qu’ils respectent les normes sur le travail des enfants et les normes sur l’environnement.

Tricotage: Nous sous-traitons le tricotage auprès d’entreprises ayant un parc machine permettant un très large choix de matière. Les matières que nous avons sélectionnées représentent plus de 90% de ce qui existe pour la fabrication de polos.

Teinture: Nous travaillons avec des teinturiers dont les labels nous garantissent le respect des normes Européenne sur l’Environnement. Nous pouvons vous proposer tout type de finition, toujours en garantissant stabilité et propreté, ainsi que la possibilité de produire vos couleurs Pantone à partir d’une faible quantité (voir les minimums sur le tableau des matières).

Contrôle qualité matière: Nous avons en interne notre propre laboratoire nous permettant de contrôler chaque retour de teinture, couleur, poids, retrait, dégorgement… Chaque matière est contrôlée et répertoriée.

Stockage matière: Nous stockons de nombreuses matières dans beaucoup de couleurs (voir tableau

Echantillon: Un service d’échantillon vous est proposé sous 5 jours ouvrables.

Délais et garantie des délais: Nos délais de production sont de 4 à 5 semaines après approbation.

Nous appliquons la même rigueur pour la garantie des délais que pour la qualité ne nos produits.

Quantités: Nous produisons à partir de petites quantités (minimum 25 pcs). Dans une même commande, vous pouvez mélanger tailles hommes (du XS au 6XL), tailles femmes et tailles enfants.

Stock matière: Nous avons un large choix de matières en stock dans beaucoup de couleur. Chaque matière est également réalisable au Pantone.

Stock produit fini: Les produits de notre catalogue sur stock sont fabriqués dans les mêmes matières et la même qualité que notre offre de fabrication sur-mesure.

Services complet: Modèles sur mesure, marquages, emballages, étiquettes, hangtags… Nous gérons jusqu’au produit fini.

LES CONTRAINTES DE PICOS Règles Etre exigeants dans la production demande aussi à être exigeants dans les méthodes. Nos trois principales contraintes sont : 1.

Nous ne pouvons pas planifier une production tant que tout n’est pas approuvé (modèles, marquages, étiquette…); 2. Nous demandons des multiples de 5 pièces par tailles (5, 10, 15….); 3.

Le contrôle qualité ne pouvant se réaliser qu’en fin de production, nous pouvons garantir nos quantités à plus ou moins 5 %, ceci étant une procédure classique dans la production textile.

Prix Nous ne pouvons (malheureusement) pas lutter contre les prix Asie, nous ne sommes pas compétitif sur des produits très basic comme le tee-shirts, mais nous pouvons nous positionner sur les polos. De plus, les avantages cités ci-dessus compensent largement la différence de prix. En effet, de très nombreux clients demandent une fabrication Européenne, et nous pouvons ensemble, répondre à cette demande.
