The Mercy Fitzgerald nurses overcame a lot in 2020: In the spring, they had the highest percentage of COVID patients in Delaware County AND they lost a president and one of their strongest union leaders through retirement. Despite these hurdles, the nurses won one of the best contracts in the state in November. During the campaign, they had an impressive 99 percent unity petition signed in just three days.
PASNAP’s second-largest local was locked in a bitter contract fight for all of 2020. Despite the fact that their campaign was compounded by the pandemic, the nurses at Einstein Medical Center came out on top after coordinating with St. Christopher’s and voting overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. Only then did they begin to see movement from management on the key issues, leading to a contract that included an expanded wage scale, successorship language, more PTO availability and better staffing language.

EINSTEIN NURSES UNITED
Like Jeanes, St. Chris and their allies at Temple, Einstein nurses played a large role in high-lighting the PPE crisis and were instrumental in helping to secure the governor’s order in June on PPE, testing and masks.
