he definition OF ARTIFICIALIA Italian couturier Sylvio Giardina’s latest collection is about the expression of two worlds, fashion and art. The one unequivocally dependent on the other, in which the culture of Italian Haute Couture merges with the futuristic suggestions of the contemporary age. In search for a new aesthetics, free from preconceptions and conventional schemes and clichés Giardina searched for a new silhouette through which individual personality can be expressed. Continuous, fluid lines tending towards infinity create a collection characterized by sinuous volumes that meet the body and envelop it. Geometric, sharp, straight/rounded, conjugate or absolute cuts convey dynamism and sinuosity to the silhouette. Jersey merges with the expanded polyethylene and organic structures are composed as well as organza that creates a metallic derma, following a path which is never linear.

Every dress is a one-of-a-kind composition.

British photographer Nick Knight captures the spirit of La Donna Fendi for the Italian luxury house’s latest advertising collection, Silvia Venturini 21/20 campaign. For the fall/winter Fendi delves into the dual personalities of la donna FENDI, projecting the characteristics of her potent femininity. ‘Soft power’ emerges from the boudoir to the boardroom as an expression of all things ladylike charged with emotion and ritual. Polarities of color and texture pair smooth concrete greys and warm neutrals against a flush of pastels and a sunny FENDI yellow. OF THE JACKIE

For the fw/20 season Gucci reintroduces of one of the House’s most famous styles, the Jackie Bag. First created in 1961, the hobo bag, with its elegant curved shape and distinctive gold hardware closure, became emblematic of the ‘60s and ‘70s jetsetter lifestyle for which the House was known. Most notably, Jackie Kennedy was photographed with the bag so frequently it became known simply as “The Jackie.” Its newest incarnation, designed by Creative Director Alessandro Michele, is the Jackie 1961. A fusion of his fascination with archival codes and contemporary vision, the bag re- emerges to transcend traditional accessories classifications. Reduced in size and worn by both men and women in diverse looks the House’s recognizable bag assumed an entirely new character. Sourcing a vintage Jackie bag from his personal archive, Alessandro Michele proposes three different sizes — medium, small and mini — rendered in a new pared down silhouette.

With her new High Jewelry collection, Claire Choisne, Creative Director of Maison Boucheron, aimed to seize the intangible by revealing the fleeting beauty of the natural world.

Comprising 67 pieces, the codes of Boucheron are interpreted with an extremely sensorial approach: pieces seem to quiver with the slightest breath on the skin, fragments of stars are caught in airy matter, a cloud of diamonds swirls on a weightless necklace.

Saab wanted to bring up what he‬‬ ‫‪called the Sacred Source meaning the vibrant life force‬‬ ‫‪that allows Beirut to triumph every time. In the video, the‬‬ ‫‪models appear in a forest of magical myths wearing‬‬ ‫‪dresses that carry a message for a better future for‬‬ ‫‪Beirut. Maria Grazia Chiuri enlisted her friend Matteo Garrone, the Italian filmmaker to create a short surrealist movie titled Le Mythe Dior.

Maison Schiaparelli showed a short film featuring creative director Daniel Roseberry sketching a new collection. The “imaginary collection” was designed for a season that was impossible to produce but his sketches have inspired designs that will be made-to-order.

hanging THE WORLD The Syrian designer part of a sustainable future.

Designer and artist Moulham Obid was born in Massiaf, Syria, in 1990. After completing a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts at the University of Aleppo in 2012 he moved to Vienna Austria, where he attended the Herbststrasse Fashion School. His graduation collection “Phi” won him the top prize of the 2017 Diva Austrian Fashion Talent Award. In 2018 Moulham’s follow up collection “Gaia” was awarded the Austrian Fashion Association (AFA) Start-Up Scholarship. In 2019 the AFA awarded sponsorship to his current collection “Pollution” which was presented at the 2020 Vienna Fashion Week. The young Syrian’s talent was also spotted by Swiss watch maker Rado, who invited him in 2018 to present his project “Master Timeless Material” at the Rado Star Prize Austria 2019 in Vienna. “We have it in our hands to change the world” is the conviction of Moulham Obid. Moulham Obid’s latest collection is labelled “Pollution 68

2020”. Addressing environmental sins and the associated climate change he completes his collection trilogy that kicked off with Phi 2017 and his investigation into the perfect proportions of the “Golden Section” and evolved into Gaia 2019 that reflects silhouettes and colors of Mother Nature’s natural forms. Moulham Obid works mainly with natural fibers and partly fully recyclable materials including fine tulle, pure silk, cashmere and organic cotton in satin and twill weave. Structures and textures are comparable with various phenomena in nature such as honeycombs, wings, corals, cell structures. Voluminous flower and leaf-like creations, pleats and gathers are created by hand from various types of tulle. Surface texture and silhouettes are thereby style-defining. Selected pieces of his collection are available for sale through special fashion Pop-Up stores which promote up and coming Austrian design talent.

ABRUZZO

Across to the Abruzzo region, the next ‘hand in hand’ collaboration sees FENDI call upon Simona Iannini, an artisan from the city of l’Aquila, to create a Baguette made entirely of ‘tombolo aquilano’ lace. This very ancient, meticulous technique exists since the 1400s, when various architects used to design projects reproduced in detail by the local ladies. It became a popular art form often practiced by the Benedictine nuns. ‘Tombolo aquilano’ workmanship sits apart from other lacework due to the fact that the continuous threads are interlaced and never cut, sewn or knotted as the artisan creates the desired pattern– for a Baguette like a precious jewel. This Baguette has olive wood details inspired by the fine wooden bobbins used for this unique workmanship, which uses interlaced linen threads forming a delicate net design with small FF logo inserts, and a lace strap. It requires more than 100 hours of work just to create the body of the bag. In FENDI’s hometown Rome in the region of Lazio, the city’s rich history of marble marquetry and silver and goldsmithing are united in the work of master jeweller Massimo Maria Melis.

Since 1982 in his renowned atelier and boutique in the Via Dell’Orso, in the heart of the centre of Rome. Melis has garnered an international following for his intricate Etruscan and Roman style jewellery that incorporates ancient coins, polychrome glass and marble. For this FENDI ‘hand in hand’ project, a precious Baguette sees a fusion of FENDI’s leather craft with Melis’ gold-plated silver appliqué ‘bezel’ flourishes created with the lost wax technique and inlaid with hand-carved very rare marbles coming in very limited amounts as extracted from quarries that are now closed. The bezels are made from a special ancient Roman technique called ‘granulatura’ that creates a motif around the bezel like a groove. Across to Umbria, and the opulent handwoven fabrics of the city of Perugia are the focus of the next ‘hand in hand’ collaboration, honouring the highly decorative and historical patterns recreated by Giuditta Brozzetti since 1921. This initiative is one of the first examples of female entrepreneurship, with its own laboratory it offers work opportunities to local women who would have once practiced weaving and made wedding linens at hoLocated inside a Franciscan . convent, the fourth-generation family business continues to produce authentic hand-woven textiles inspired by Medieval designs on antique looms from the 19th century.

For their FENDI Baguette, Giuditta Brozzetti today ran by her grand-niece Marta, have reproduced an historical textile with a two-tone scrolled motif featuring a horse, a peacock, a unicorn and a dove from classical mythology in a bright royal blue against a neutral background. This blue gives the bag an innate opulence, as it was identified in the past as a very aristocratic colour once made with rare indigo pigments from South East Asia. In the heart of Venice, Veneto, the ‘hand in hand’ partnership delves into the archives of the jacquard artisans Luigi Bevilacqua, with five centuries of family experience crafting opulent Venetian textiles. Handwoven on 18th century looms, Bevilacqua’s soprarizzo ‘over the curl’ silk and cotton velvet represent the most artisanal timewise intensive ‘hand in hand’ project, as each millimetre of the rich floral brocade motif inspired by the ancient venetian repertory, is cut and woven by artisans who produce few centimetres of fabric per day. Lined in powder pink silk, this Baguette evokes the spirit of Venice and the colourful history of its palazzos in all their faded beauty.
