Happy 75th Anniversary to Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts!

Thank you for many years of support.

From your friends at the LA Phil

WELCOME TO OUR 75TH YEAR AND 58TH

PASADENA SHOWCASE HOUSE OF DESIGN

OUR 75TH YEAR!

This year all of us with Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts are thrilled to celebrate our 75th Anniversary as a nonprofit philanthropic organization. Your attendance has made it possible for us to contribute more than $25 million toward music and the arts in our local community since 1948–an enduring legacy.

OUR 58TH SHOWCASE HOUSE!

Welcome to Stewart House, a 1933 grand colonial estate designed by one of Pasadena’s most celebrated architectural partnerships, Marston & Maybury. Stewart House takes us back to the days of gracious architecture and quintessential Showcase with over 11,000 square feet of living space on two acres of meticulously manicured grounds. Featured in 1983 as the 19th Pasadena Showcase House of Design, Stewart House is a remarkable and elegant estate with modern amenities that complement the main residence including a guest house, 4-car garage and workshop, entertaining pool deck, tennis pavilion, and many themed gardens.

The Showcase House experience is a memorable one. During your visit today, we invite you to stroll around the grounds at your own pace, or take one of our docent-led garden tours. Be sure to visit our famous Shops at Showcase–located in the tennis pavilion—with boutiques offering a variety of luxury linens, gourmet foods, home and garden décor, and fashionable jewelry and accessories. There are three restaurants located throughout the property for your enjoyment: Stewart’s Bistro, offering a full-service menu; Lucky’s Café, offering grab & go items; and The Shops Wine and Cheese Bar, offering wine, beer, and soft drinks to sip while shopping.

It takes a village to put on one of the largest and most successful home and garden tours in the country. We are immensely grateful to our talented designers and craftspeople who exquisitely created this year’s Showcase House in a whirlwind 60 days. We thank our generous patrons, sponsors, resources, and special friends who contributed in myriad ways. We are indebted to the 300+ community volunteers who staff during tours, ensuring your experience is a safe and welcoming one. We also wish to thank our homeowners and neighbors, who have been so gracious throughout these past few months. Finally, and most importantly, we are grateful for the hard work and dedication of our members of Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, who make the Showcase House possible year after year.

Whether this is your first visit, or a longstanding annual one, thank you for your patronage. We hope you will make lasting memories while visiting today.

THE

Showcase House ABOUT

Pasadena Showcase House of Design is the fundraiser produced by Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts to fund their music programs and award gifts and grants to other non-profit organizations to support their efforts. It is open for tours mid-April to mid-May.

What does it take to be a Showcase House? There is no ideal house that meets all the criteria; so, every year the advantages are weighed against the disadvantages of the properties available for that year. Some years we have a plethora from which to choose, and some years, well, there are fewer. Two staircases is at the top of the must-have list, a wide road for the shuttles, space for Shops, portapotties, trash, etc. are the practicalities that influence the selection.

Sometimes there are grand mansions and other times charming homes on a smaller scale are chosen. No matter the square footage, each estate is renovated from top to bottom by leading designers using the latest concepts and materials. So, indulge your inner lookyloo. Take a look behind the gates and come have a good time. And, it doesn’t hurt that you’re helping support your community at the same time. What a deal!

Attendance WHAT YOUR MEANS

At Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, our hearts beat joyously, for music in our communities.

Founded in 1948 with our initial support for the LA Phil, we have expanded to include our local community, specifically focusing on programs created for children and young adults. And we believe adults also celebrate the musical arts, singing, dancing, playing musical instruments and just listening too. We award financial support in grants annually for notable, large and small, ageless, local music-oriented non-profit organizations.

At Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, our 200+ volunteer-only organization, we are all dedicated to sharing the joy of music through exposure, education, and experience. And since our inception 75 years ago, we have provided over $25 million to support to this mission right in our own community.

THESE FUNDS COME FROM YOU!

Thank you for your Patronage, donations, membership, buying tickets for the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design, and purchases at our Shops at Showcase and restaurant. All these opportunities to enhance your involvement and enjoyment of the Pasadena Showcase House of Design fund our efforts in the community.

MUSIC

Mobile™

Since 1971 Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts Music Mobile program has brought the magic of music to thirdgraders throughout the community and since 2005, Pasadena Showcase has partnered with the Pasadena Conservatory of Music.

Over the years, the program introduced classical music and instruments that make up an orchestra to nearly 130,000 students. Through an entertaining, child-friendly presentation, students, many of them for the first time, were given a hands-on experience, gaining valuable exposure to symphonic music. The program received numerous local and national awards for originality and educational excellence.

Although the program has been paused since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, grand plans for a revised Music Mobile program are in the works. Pasadena Showcase and the Pasadena Conservatory of Music saw the opportunity to reassess the program, concluding it was time to redesign it and establish a new path forward. Music Mobile has focused previously on symphonic music, but it was decided that offering a broader musical style would better serve our diverse population and be more inclusive. The creative process continues, and a new exciting Music Mobile program will launch in 2024!

Concert

Approximately 4,000 excited fourth-graders attended this year’s annual Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts Youth Concert. For many, this was their first experience seeing a concert with a live orchestra.

Youth Concert was available for the last two years in a streaming format; but February 1, 2023 marked the glorious return of Youth Concert to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Presented by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, this year’s production was Igor Stravinsky’s 1919 version of the Firebird Suite, based on a classic Russian folktale. The performance, which tells the story of a handsome prince, his beautiful princess and the magical bird that saves them from evil, was conducted by Dudamel Conducting Fellow Rodolfo Barraez and set to dance.

As in prior years, the children were in awe of the performance, experiencing the joy of music. Nearly 250,000 students have participated in Pasadena Showcase Youth Concert since it began in 1953. For most it’s an unforgettable experience that impacts them in a profound and positive way.

Youth Concert is funded by proceeds from the Pasadena Showcase House of Design with a generous grant from The Green Foundation.

Competition

On January 28, 2023, the 36th Annual Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts Instrumental Competition was held at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. Nine finalists performed before a panel of judges from the LA Phil to compete for $18,500 in prizes generously underwritten by Charles and Kathryn Hofgaarden.

The Grand Prize for Exceptional Talent and Musicianship was awarded to Muyang Wu, a 16-year old violinist from Colburn Academy, shown with Pasadena Showcase President Vikki Sung, Instrumental Chair Christine Upton and Head Judge, Christopher Stills. Wu performed excerpts from Sibelius and Bach, with judges describing his playing as “mature, with solid technique and beautiful style.”

Musical theater, jazz bands, operas and orchestras, school marching bands, dance programs, choral groups and concerts–we fund programs that enrich the community and provide opportunities for all ages from students to seniors. To mark our 75th anniversary this year, we awarded $900,000 to 75 nonprofit organizations for their efforts to provide music education, music therapy and music appreciation programs that help the community learn, enjoy and grow from these experiences.

Funds for Gifts & Grants are derived from the organization’s annual benefit, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. To date Pasadena Showcase has contributed more than $25 million to nonprofits throughout the greater Pasadena area. Special thanks go out to our volunteer members, designers, patrons, vendors and our visitors who participate to make this happen.

PASADENA SHOWCASE HOUSE FOR THE ARTS CELEBRATES ITS

75 Years of Sharing the Joy of Music

Since 1948 our all-volunteer organization has grown from 18 people to over 200 today!

The commitment, organization, teamwork, and camaraderie of Pasadena Showcase members of our homeowners, talented designers, caterers, and vendors make us successful, every year.

We are joyous about 75 years of supporting music, but more importantly, we celebrate the membership that brought us to where we are today. Our membership consists broadly of two groups, Active/Business members, the day-to-day hardworking group that brings the Pasadena Showcase House of Design to fruition and Associates, who have served us well over the years and continue to support Pasadena Showcase through patronage and service.

In 1948 we were the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee, raising funds to support LA Phil concerts and we have continued that support, “sticking to our jobs,” for more than two-thirds of the current life of the LA Phil, now in its 104th season.

Our fundraising efforts have blossomed over the years from small parties, casino nights, and, with the advent of television sets, “TV Parties,” where members dressed as beloved TV actors. We raised $3,000 to 5,000 annually, and then set our sights higher.

In 1965, we more than doubled our fundraising to $11,000 by reaching out to the community and opening the first Pasadena Showcase House of Design. You, our community, responded enthusiastically and continue to do so today at the Stewart House, our 58th Showcase House.

To learn more, go to our Pasadena Showcase website: pasadenashowcase.org/about

We thank you for your support in your visit. And we are eternally grateful to our designers and members for continually taking on the hard work and intense responsibilities involved in creating all 58 of our Pasadena Showcase House of Design benefits.

PASADENA SHOWCASE HOUSE FOR THE ARTS

75 YEARS BY THE NUMBERS

Then & Now

As Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts celebrates its 75th anniversary, we look back on the history of one of the country’s oldest, largest, and most successful home and garden tours: the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. This annual and only fundraiser for the organization has been infusing design, music, and the arts into Pasadena and the surrounding communities since 1965. This is a time to reflect on our advancements during our history and show you how the Showcase House has grown.

MEMBERS

Then: 18 members were part of the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee

Now: Approximately 240 members make up the dynamic team of volunteers for Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (The organization changed its name to Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts in 2000.)

NUMBER OF DESIGNERS

Then: 15 Interior Designers took part in the Showcase House of Design. In 1965, members were planting the flowers around the Showcase House. The next year and for a few years thereafter, the owners of Bellefontaine Nursery did the landscaping.

Now: 30+ interior and exterior designers showcase cutting-edge trends in high-style living.

THE SHOPS AT SHOWCASE

Then: Art Sales were part of Showcase early on but expanded in 1995 and renamed Marketplace. In 2007, the collection of vendors was renamed The Shops at Showcase

Now: Approximately 20 vendors provide a stunning array of goods including jewelry, clothing, ceramics, home and garden décor and gourmet food items. The Shops at Showcase are now a beloved mainstay of the Pasadena Showcase House of Design

THE MONEY RAISED FROM SHOWCASE HOUSE

Then: The LA Phil and its youth concerts

Now: Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts supports five philanthropic initiatives: Music MobileTM, Instrumental Competition, Youth Concert, Gifts & Grants and the LA Phil. Since its founding, the organization has contributed over $25 million to music and arts programs, and our support continues. Already in 2023, funding to share the joy of music surpassed $1 million, lead by $900,000 awarded to local community organizations through the Gifts & Grants program.

RESTAURANT AT SHOWCASE

Then: There was no restaurant, though complimentary coffee and cookies were included in the ticket price and tea was served in the afternoons from 2-4pm.

Now: Visitors to the house will find several food and beverage options available to them. A full-service restaurant offers gourmet cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests can start or end their visit with a cozy cocktail in the lounge and for a lite bite alternative they can grab a quick snack from our Grab-and-Go options

Stewart House

A

1933 grand colonial estate with spectacular acreage in a storied Pasadena neighborhood.

Designed by Marston & Maybury, one of Pasadena’s celebrated architectural partnerships, Stewart House takes us back to the days of gracious architecture and a quintessential Showcase House of Design with over 11,000 square feet of living space on two acres of exquisite grounds.

Featured in 1983 as the 19th Pasadena Showcase House of Design, we are revisiting this incredible property, stewarded by the same family for nearly 40 years, to reintroduce this majestic estate to a new generation.

A visit to this distinguished American Colonial opens with verdant lawns and an iconic portico. An elegant foyer with a Georgian staircase, then the stately living room and a bright sunroom overlooking the gardens highlight your entry. A gallery bar adjoins a paneled library and a formal dining room. Completing the main floor is a large butler’s pantry/morning room, an open kitchen and family room, and two guest bathrooms. The second floor comprises four bedrooms and three bathrooms, each with beautiful vistas of the grounds, and a primary suite with French doors that lead to a terrace.

WELCOME
TO
PageSponsoredby:LynnMehl

This estate also features a large guest house with recreation/ media room, four-car garage, pool, changing rooms and pool cabana, and an enclosed tennis court. The grounds showcase themed gardens, including an Asian garden, vegetable garden, rose garden, and a café terrace, all highlighted by the vast collection of sculptures and statues.

Arthur Stewart and his wife Ruth Nicholson Stewart received the land, once an orange grove on Lucky Baldwin’s Rancho Santa Anita, as a wedding gift from W.L. Stewart, Arthur’s father and

president of Union Oil Company. Built at a cost of $13,000–a large amount during the Great Depression–they lived there with their two daughters. A quiet, country life included a stable and corral at the back of the property for the girls’ horse. Nearly a century later with detailed improvements, expansions, and magnificent landscape developments, it’s now hard to believe this estate was once the home for a quiet, country life.

Borrowing from the classic lines and symmetry of the front formal gardens, THE WELCOME GARDEN continues this classic theme with white Iceberg Roses and Boxwood globes.

Concrete urns spill over with Needlepoint Ivy, Jack Spratt Flax and variegated Dietes, introducing the house’s color palette inside the entry door. The graceful rhythm of textures and unexpected plant choices is a welcoming fanfare for the senses.

FOYER/STAIRCASE UPSTAIRS LANDING

Paying homage to the architects, the designer created a FOYER befitting the grandeur of the home. Elements such as textures, layers of different hues, custom items and unique pieces are meticulously curated, turning the space into a work of art.

Merging modern with traditional, the style is elegant with a whisper of Tropical and European roots. Details like Murano glass and gold and silver leaf add inherent glamour. A pearlescent texture guides visitors to the second floor. The Murano chandelier’s brightness glimmers, leading to the mural of nature that speaks of celestial plants, birds, and flowers. Ornamental tassels from sixteenth century France and Art Deco trimmings blend. The total scheme restores the soul of the property to its original majesty.

THE LIBRARY BATH

THE LIBRARY BATH demonstrates a departure from minimalism and takes the viewer into a room with maximum design complete with details of beautiful textures and floor-to-ceiling color.

The floor design incorporates several tile patterns but is kept cohesive with one color scheme based in dark greens, blues and black. The wood paneling is finished in a deep shade of cyan, framing a graphic black and white wallpaper print that repeats on the panels in the room. The colored glass light fixtures, colorful tiles, wall patterns and colors combine to give the sense of being inside an exquisite jewelry box.

Entering THE LIBRARY, one is transported to the era of Emile Jacques Ruhlmann and Erte but with a modern twist. The 1930s Art Deco theme lends itself to keeping the space dark and moody while the additions of high style and gorgeous accents work together to create a stunning space.

The updated warm high gloss black wood, with gold and dark grey graphic wallpaper adorning the backs of the shelving, reflects a strong elegance. Zebra hide covered books and white statuary grace the shelves adding richness. Special furniture, designed by Kira Halter, complete the traditional luxury and inherent glamour of the space.

THE SPEAKEASY AND HALLWAY

The ambiance and feel of THE SPEAKEASY AND HALLWAY embellish the mood of a speakeasy, with a sultry design and eye-catching elements that are reminiscent of the 1930s. One of the most interesting aspects of the space is how modern fabrics, wallpaper and hand painted wall murals come together, creating the impression of a time that existed over 90 years ago.

Custom made pieces including hand blown pendants, a custom designed bar and wood shelving add to the distinctive exclusivity of the space. Vintage furniture updated with rich fabric make the room a detailed work of art.

THE POWDER ROOM

We started to create a powder room of distinction by using dramatic wallpaper. The previous POWDER ROOM was heavily adorned with outdated vanity, faucet and lighting. Billman Designs wanted to bring this room into the 21st century. Our wallpaper by Scalamandre, is the traditional grass cloth paper with a touch of elegance with beading that is illuminated surrounded by our lighting choices. Our choice of paint color is tranquil for this small room which gives it a warm classic feel to this room. We added polished nickel accents to the faucet and lighting to showcase the traditional aesthetic design. We kept the original trim and baseboards and painted them in Classic White by Dunn-Edwards, while the outside of the wallpaper we used the Deepest Sea also by Dunn-Edwards Paints. With all these features and accents we now have a traditional classic elegant room.

THE BUTLER’S PANTRY AND MORNING ROOM

Flowing seamlessly from the Dining Room, THE BUTLER’S PANTRY is painted a soft, complementing green. Inset wall panels with a pearl finished grass cloth add texture and balance.

The preserved but updated original cabinets, are decorated and embellished with a display of fine china, crystal, antiques and vintage and modern collections. The walnut wood countertop is also updated in a rich ebony finish.

The custom designed centered piece, the mobile Butler’s workstation, is capped with a Carrera Marble top on beautiful brass casters. The room is topped off with a lyrical profile of fluttering petals of metal reflecting the contemporary warm silver leaf finish of the two chandeliers.

THE FORMAL DINING ROOM

THE FORMAL DINING ROOM guides the visitor through a visually elegant experience. The existing murals, custom painted for the homeowner, have been carefully revived, creating a sublime, dynamic backdrop for the striking furnishings. Rich green walls highlight the mood of these alluring panels.

A curated mix of custom, antique, traditional, and contemporary furniture dresses the space with pops of black and gold for a sophisticated edge. Clean lined draperies of shimmery silk frame the tall windows complementing the upholstery velvets and one-of-a-kind rug.

A crystal chandelier hovers over the custom table, dressed in layers of luxurious fine china, crystal, and florals ready for a dinner party!

THE PRIMARY SUITE AND BATH

This lavish PRIMARY SUITE was inspired by a honeymoon trip to a private game reserve at the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Its sumptuous style harmonizes heritage with new-traditional luxury living. Charactered pieces and curated accessories play off of crisp, clean-lined furnishings. Grooved lilac marble, fluted mahogany cabinets, French brass finishes and mischievous monkeys are just a few playful elements that punctuate the palette of mossy greens, pale taupes and African purples.

This innovative design honors the home’s colonial architecture and modernizes the functionality through versatile use of space. It bolsters the belief that bedrooms should be designed as an oasis. THE PRIMARY SUITE re-imagines such a place as whimsical, sophisticated, livable and oh so luxe.

With furnishings and accessories in an eclectic mix of global bohemian style and Art Deco, THE TERRACE is transformed into an island jazz retreat. Inspired by Fitzgerald’s description of Daisy Buchanan’s porch in The Great Gatsby, it re-imagines the “bright with the bought luxury of star-shine” combining Deco opulence with Caribbean Island flare. Fabrics showcase handblocked botanicals and Deco geometrics in a palette of warm grey, white, and island sage. Furnishings in wood and cane mix warm tones with accents in marble and gold. Island influenced lighting in gilded finishes floats above a tablescape and two lounge areas. Finally, a variety of tropical foliage and pampas grasses sprinkle the perimeter creating a verdant backdrop.

THE ARTIST’S WUNDERKAMMER

Tahitian motifs adorn the ceiling, beckoning us into THE ARTIST’S WUNDERKAMMER, a ‘room of wonder’ honoring the creative passions of the original owner of this year’s Showcase House, Ruth Stewart, and her 1935 nautical voyages through Hawaii and Asia.

Imbued with wood panels and hand-painted wallpaper, the space teems with plants, vases, maps, art and musical instruments. Half-finished poems lay forgotten beneath the glow of a 1930s chandelier. At center, a custom-made artist’s work table echoes the vibrant shape of a dragonfly, a totem of free expression. Bespoke wood cabinets display our traveler’s eclectic collection of souvenirs and natural curiosities. All furniture has been handmade from African sustainable mahogany, built custom for this Showcase House in our restoration design workshop.

THE YOUNG GENTLEMEN’S BEDROOM AND BATH

Designed to be a cozy retreat for children to relax, read and study, separate individual spaces create niches for personal design and creativity. An eyecatching custom headboard maximizes the design space and provides a unique visual interest.

The playful and youthful bath is light and bright with a console to optically enlarge the space while maintaining the traditional style. The shower tile work, reflecting the shades of green in the bedroom shows off a fun subway design, while the wallpaper adds texture and dimension. The floor tile is vibrant and completes the polished look.

THE PARISIAN HOTEL SUITE

The inspiration for THE PARISIAN HOTEL SUITE bedroom comes from the luxury and refinement of a European hotel suite meeting California casual. As you step into the space the very soft color palette is easy on the eye releasing a feeling of comfort and relaxation. A one-of-a-kind custom bed and bedding were created just for the room and add a special touch. The use of lots of texture throughout the space mixes well with vintage elements such as the rugs, chairs and pottery joining the old with the new.

With its design oriented around a duo of islands, the work-play intent of this KITCHEN is immediately clear, serving up the amenities needed to cook a meal, entertain or help the kids with their homework. The design honors the rich history and architecture of the property balancing it with today’s modern needs.

Despite its grand scale, it’s the restrained luxury that slowly draws you closer; quartzite counters furnishing a polished nickel bridge faucet, custom cabinets in earthy tones, a full-service wine bar with a wine refrigerator, a ceiling-height natural stone backsplash and custom metal and glass shelving. Rift-sawn oak islands featuring matching polished nickel hardware and fixtures harken back to the days when this property worked as a rancho.

Looking at life in rosy hues…wander into a world of Parisian romance, a painted wood floor reminiscent of a Savonnerie carpet, and roses intertwining among French scrollwork. One can almost smell the intoxicating fragrance from a trompe l’oeil ceiling treillage of roses in cascades of pink and blush, a sensual expression of both decadence and innocence. As romantic chansons waft, lush drapery surrounds inviting, comfy furnishings in flowery, feminine fabrics; vignettes of vintage treasures, books, champagne and French sweets offer a tranquil haven. From a petite garden, Mademoiselle gathers her favorite heirloom roses, where, accompanied by singing birds, a bloom room awaits for cutting and arranging gorgeous bouquets!

If the kitchen is the home’s heart, THE FAMILY ROOM is its soul. This family room seamlessly connects the entertainer’s kitchen with the home’s outdoor living space–uniting understated luxury with the home’s working roots. Whether hosting game night or curling up with a book, it’s ready to serve.

Aiming for comfort, function and beauty, the design marries an earthy palette and soft layers. A large sectional sofa and pair of chairs encourage the indoor-outdoor lifestyle. The workhorse built-in media cabinet, painted in a rich tone with a stained oak top, holds toys and blankets and conceals audio/video equipment. Design elements such as the generous area rug and window treatments incorporate modern styling, striking a contemporary but still reverential look.

THE RECREATION STATION

The custom workshop was designed not just as a work area but also as an organized storage space. Track lighting sets off a wall of high-end custom-made melamine cabinets and the work area with maple wood countertops. A variety of storage ideas includes a large section of slat wall to hold an assortment of equipment, an adjustable bar system ideal for hanging bikes and scooters, heavy duty shelving and lighter duty adjustable shelving. A motorized Canoe/Kayak lifter, mounted on the ceiling, is operated by Bluetooth. The charcoal painted baseboard gives a transition between the walls and the durable but beautiful polyurea flooring. Roll-up window shades complete the room.

This airy MODERN GUEST HAVEN is inspired by the beautiful natural light blanketing the space. The interior design complements the architectural features and the courtyard view, creating a warm, welcoming environment of contentment and relaxation.

Sheer drapery frames the French doors and windows to capture the light streaming in while highlighting the serene view. The walls emphasize the height of the room and draw the eyes upwards towards the skylight and ceiling beams, opening and enlarging the space while embodying an uplifting sense of possibility.

A relaxing color palette combined with rich, diverse textures are implemented throughout the design process, inviting guests to unwind, indulge and enjoy.

THE GARDEN RETREAT

Inspired by the property’s formal gardens and situated in the Guest House, THE GARDEN RETREAT uses a fresh traditional wallpaper with a motif echoing the surrounding gardens to set the tone for this contemporary hideaway.

A rattan daybed and sleek armchairs with patterned pillows, a stunning wood console for storage and tall wood planters sit on sisal area rugs. An airy woven pendant light and starburst mirror add visual interest. All are in a neutral, natural palette. Greenery and accessories collected from travels finish the space with character and warmth.

THE POTAGER: EDIBLE AND CUT FLOWER GARDEN

Inspired by the intricately manicured garden of the French Laundry restaurant and playing off of the mainstream trend that gardening has become, we have the first dedicated edible gardening in Pasadena Showcase House of Design history.

THE POTAGER is a live exhibit to engage all of the senses with a planned collection of international herbs and vegetables along with seasonal flowers. The practicality of food production and the beauty of fresh cut flowers flourishes throughout the duration of the Showcase season. Ornamental elements such as the custom trellis teteurs, selected specifically for the space, add a decorative point of interest.

THE MEDITATION GARDEN

Two majestic Fern Pines flank this peaceful sanctuary while bubbling sounds from a natural stone fountain beckon passersby to look closer. The designer’s vision for this existing garden began with basic organization. Sago Palms were transplanted and trimmed, Nandina removed, and overgrown Azaleas brought under control. New plants include Abutilon and Camellias for color, twisted Bonsai Junipers for interest, and Mondo Grass to accentuate a statue of Buddha. Pebbles, added along an old stone path, guide visitors to a bridge overlooking the stream. A granite seat offers a welcome spot to pause and reflect.

COMING UP ROSES!

There are few things as romantic as a beautiful rose, except, maybe LOTS of beautiful roses! The existing collection of hybrid Tea roses have been enhanced by installing striking metal trellises adorned with dreamy pink climbing roses. New topiary potted plants add depth, while an assortment of colorful companion plants and hand-blown glass globes bring the right touch of magic. From Spring to Fall a wide variety of flowers will grace this exceptional garden, bringing joy to all who visit. As you stroll through the garden be sure to, well, stop and smell the roses.

POOL CABANA LOUNGE AND DRESSING ROOMS

Inspired by nature, the Pool, Cabana Lounge and Dressing Rooms embrace classic design and modern taste. In the lounge space, wainscoting and wallpaper are used all around, hiding a wet bar and two closets. Ceiling molding, wooden furniture and a mix of earth and warm coral tones complement the red brick surrounding the pool and encourage welcoming moments of rest.

Both DRESSING ROOMS showcase fully-tiled built-in vanities that pair with the natureinspired Arts and Crafts wallpapers. The wall mounted faucets and beautiful sinks combine modern flair and classic elements.

Wooden benches, slatted walls or linen closet, and linen Roman shades bring functionality and warmth to the spaces. The wallpapered shower and toilet space is completed with tiles of the same collection, giving a cohesive look.
