FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PLEASE NOTE: Due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic, information contained in this document could change based on updates to federal, state or local guidelines.

MASKS / FACE COVERINGS: Will students and staff be required to wear a face mask while at school or on school property? Face coverings are highly recommended for all staff, students and visitors on Pasadena ISD property: The Governor’s Executive Order, GA-38, prohibits school districts from requiring staff or students to wear masks/face coverings.

VACCINES: Are staff or students required to be vaccinated against COVID-19? No. The CDC recommends COVID-19 vaccination for everyone over the age of 12. Pasadena ISD does not require vaccination of students and staff for COVID-19.

EXCLUSION: How long? Staff or students who test positive for COVID-19 will need to remain off campus for 5 days from symptom onset. For those individuals without symptoms, the ten-day exclusion begins on the positive test date. Individuals who have had close contact with a person confirmed to have COVID-19 and remain symptom-free will be permitted to be at school/work. Families will determine what they believe is best for their specific situation. All staff and students should monitor themselves daily and not report to work or school if symptoms of COVID-19 are present. Required exclusion does not apply to symptom-free close contacts. The CDC does not identify vaccinated individuals as close contacts.

NOTIFICATION: Will I be notified if there is a positive case of COVID-19 on my child’s campus? Yes. Pasadena ISD will maintain a COVID-19 dashboard. A phone call alerting families will be sent when a positive case of COVID-19 is identified. All students and staff are encouraged to wear masks or face coverings and self-screen daily for symptoms of COVID-19.

MITIGATION: Will Pasadena ISD offer any measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19? • • • • • •

Hand sanitizer will be available throughout every campus and district facility. Staff and students will maintain social distance as feasible. All staff and students are encouraged to self-screen daily for COVID-19 symptoms. Face coverings are highly recommended. COVID-19 testing will be available onsite with parental consent for students who become ill during the school day. Routine sanitation of all PISD facilities and buses will be performed daily with approved germicidal agent.

REMOTE LEARNING: Will there be an option for virtual learning this year? Pasadena ISD is happy to welcome all students back to a face to face environment. At this time, our state government has not approved funding for virtual learning. All classes will be delivered in person on campus.
