INTRO
INTRO Welcome to the last few days of summer and the end of a craz y and intense Ibiza season! In the days and weeks to come there will be some of the longest par ties, great music to be heard and lots of hangovers to be cured. The good news about the par ty mayhem is: I t will make you forget about the rest of the world. And the bad news about it is: Well, it will make you forget about the rest of the world!

When your only concern is where to spend your money best on expensive drinks in Ibiza, please keep in mind that there are millions of people out there with “real” problems. You can read on, we are not tr ying to spoil your holiday experience with a bad conscience. But maybe you too would like to give something back to a world that treated you rather well so far? This is the idea of the Bridges for Music project, curated by prominent figures of our scene like Valentino Barrioseta, Ben Turner (the man behind the IMS) or Juan Arnau (head of Elrow and the Monegros Festival) and some power ful industr y patrons like Red Bull, Pioneer and Traktor. We believe that electronic music
can bridge social gaps, inspire people and enhance oppor tunities in disadvantaged areas across the world. The NGO Bridges for Music teams up with DJs like Richie Hawtin and Luciano to raise awareness and take action. I t is superstars like them who are the role models for k ids in poor countries, and who help them to believe in their talent, follow their ambitions and just go for it! In free music workshops Hawtin and Luciano worked with the k ids and played free gigs for thousands of South Africans in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Future plans include doing similar projects in Kenya, Brazil and Costa Rica with Carl Cox, Solomun and Loco Dice. In the words of Richie Hawtin: “I believe music can play a crucial role in raising awareness of social issues and ar tists should have a responsibility to give something back.” Get involved, on www. bridgesformusic.org or at any festival where Bridges for Music raises funds. Have a ‘loco’ end of the season and we see you next year! Nos vemos en 2014!

INTERVIEW MARCO CAROLA
INTERVIEW MARCO CAROLA What would you say is different this season compared to your last summer of Music on? Last season was a kind of experiment. For the first time we were facing the experience of our own event in Ibiza, everything was a bit difficult for us. We were new on the island. This season is a completely different experience, regardless of the artists who play. Everything was much easier this year. Last year we were forced to find new talents because of Ibiza’s club politics. This year we kept searching for new talents but we could include a couple of popular DJs like Loco Dice and Carl Cox. With Carl, Dice and DJ Sneak you already had interesting guests this season. Can you say there was one particular night that was your favourite night of the summer so far? All the nights are special to me but the opening of Music on is always really unique as there is a lot of expectation and I am always curious of how the people will react. Openings and closings are always special nights for me.

The Amnesia terrace is your true home. What makes this place so special? It is my homebase, yes. Amnesia is the one place where I can really express my music and my soul. The people interact so fast and there is a great connection with the crowd. So Amnesia is definitely my venue in Ibiza. Your residents are again Marc Antona, Joseph Capriati and León. Can you tell us something about their strengths and their musical style? Well, all the guys are great artists and play completely different styles. What is more important, they really match our vision for the night. I really love them. They are amazing people and the people really love them too. I can see a big difference from last year, especially with Mark Antona. This year there are a lot more people that already know and like him, his fanbase grew immensely.

INTERVIEW MARCO CAROLA The artwork of ‘Music On’ on flyers and posters is one of the most distinctive graphic designs in Ibiza. How did it come about? We wanted to create something unique, something connected with the energy of the night, something connected with our claim “It’s all about the music”. Something real! So we’ve created 16 different sculptures with the logo and for each piece we used a different recycled material. From wood over iron and stone – every single sculpture has its own identity, which is connected with the idea of Music On of being something simple and real. Do you already know what will happen to these pieces, will you put them in a museum or sell them? We are storing them in a warehouse at the moment but we are thinking about selling them for charity. Your after-hours were usually held at La Plage but now the venue is shut down. Do you have plans for new after-hours? We already played three after parties at La Plage but then the place was closed. So we are looking for a new location. We don’t want to do an after party in a venue where the vibe is not the same that we created at La Plage. So we are searching and I think we will come up with something special and unique for maybe just one or two after parties at the end of the season.

INTERVIEW MARCO CAROLA
You also played for Carl Cox in the Space main room recently. How would you describe this experience, especially compared to playing on the Amnesia terrace? Every time I am playing with Carl Cox all over the world I have a great experience, Carl is a great friend of mine. It doesn’t matter where we play together, the experience is always unique. The party at Space was magic and Carl did everything possible to make me feel comfortable. The main room is a completely different feeling from Amnesia’s terrace and with Carl it was really special.
In September you have a number of popular guests at Music On, is there somebody you are particularly looking forward to? Well, there is the gig with Nic Fanciulli, there is one more gig with Joseph Capriati – I am really happy with all the artists playing at our party, I could not single out one of them. The Music On team now runs a restaurant in San Rafael and you own a shop in Ibiza town. Are there any more plans for further expansion of the brand? The thing is – we’d like to give something back to the island. We would like to establish our team on the island and not just party and leave. Wherever it is possible we are planning to invest in the island to give the island something back.

INTERVIEW MARCO CAROLA
JULY 4 – SEPTEMBER 26 2013
What are your plans for after the season and winter? On October 25th we will start our residency in New York at Marquee every Friday, and every Saturday at Store in Miami. This is going for nine weekends and then we’ll see how it went and if we can expand it. When you have some time off – what do you like to do, what are your hobbies? At the moment I don’t have a lot of free time. But if I am free I’d like to go to the beach with my friends and have fun. Something really simple. “It’s all about the music” for Marco Carola, right? Yes, I couldn’t imagine my life without music. Music is my life! Thank you very much, Marco.

STORY RICARDO VILLALOBOS
STORY RICARDO VILLALOBOS If you asked us to portray this man in only one short sentence we could not describe him as anything other than the Es Védra of our scene! Dozens of myths and legends help to create the distinctive, mysterious aura that surrounds Ricardo Villalobos just like the mystical rock off the west coast of Ibiza. He does not have an e-mail address or manages a Facebook account. He drives around the island of Ibiza in a 20 year old Mercedes Benz. It is even said that he has no bank account.

BEYOND THE MATRIX
RICARDO VILLALOBOS A MUSICAL GENIUS AND 100% PURE ARTIST
22
TheClubbingBible.Net
Rumours circulate not least because the artist himself speaks only very rarely to the public or the media, adding to the conundrum that is Ricardo. In our conformist, digital world of 1’s and 0’s he is the Neo: The shining knight bringing down the evil Matrix in the popular movie. Not only that he still plays vinyl but he also distances himself from social media and the world of (online) promotion: “Any kind of promotion is the beginning of the end“, he once said. “The party itself is promotion enough.” Fullstop. And he is right. One negative review in an internet forum nowadays is enough to make the party sound bad, even if a thousand others had a great time but just don’t write about it. Villalobos’ view of the clubber is not that of a consumer but of a contributor. As a punter you are just as responsible for the success of a party as the promoter, waitress or the DJ is. Everybody has to add his or her share to create the unique vibe that makes a party legendary.
TheClubbingBible.Net
23
STORY RICARDO VILLALOBOS The DJ is not more important for the party than everybody else on the dancefloor. Clubbing is living the moment, which is also the reason why one party cannot be compared to another. It is an evanescent spirit, nothing than can be captured or repeated. With the humble self-image of an artist coming from modest circumstances as a Chile born immigrant in Germany, Ricardo once said in a Slices video interview: “I don’t like hype. The hype produces a picture of a person which is not the reality. Someone likes your music without having heard it before, just because of the hype!” Ricardo enjoys a rather musical upbringing, influenced from a very early age by the Latin-American music of his Chilean parents. Having played in a club for the first time in 1988 he then starts producing acid house and techno in the early 90‘s. But it is in 1999 when his career really takes off with a gig at the very first Cocoon event ever in Ibiza. It is only months later that he joins the Cocoon booking agency, becomes resident for Cocoon Ibiza and remains faithful to it ever since. As the first real terrace-whisperer he characterizes the sound of the famous Amnesia floor like no one else and almost single-handedly makes it to what it is today. It is also then that he meets the young Luciano, who told us: “Ricardo is one of my dearest friends and he is one of the purest persons I know. He has a huge part in my heart and in my life. Our friendship goes back a long time, when things were different on the White Island, more free, with less control and less weird politics. We used to hang out a lot in the most funny places of the old Ibiza, and things were just magic.” Also musically Luciano has nothing but praise: “Ricardo was the best then, and he still is the best artist in the electronic music scene by far!”
24
TheClubbingBible.Net
STORY RICARDO VILLALOBOS Ricardo Villalobos shows how consistent work, ethos and doing your thing pay off in the end. For decades now he has been staying true to his beliefs, his promoter and not least his taste. A taste that isn’t always easy on the audience, mind you. More like a piece of art than functional club tunes Ricardo Villalobos’ music is not for the casual listener. With tracks that usually last around 15 minutes it takes attention and the willingness to let it in. It is worth the effort though as his musical genius is beyond description. The infamous Fizheuer Zieheuer EP features the 37 minute long title track spread over two sides of vinyl. Repeating brass instrument samples over a faint hihat as the basis for a minute long experimenting with rhythms and folkloric melodies, distorted by relentless clangs. In an interview for Germany’s Faze Magazine Ricardo once said that he believes there is club music which is not danceable. Ironically, to really appreciate his clever and opulent productions you need the sophisticated sound system of a huge club though. So basically locking yourself up in Amnesia in the afternoon and turning up his music while sitting alone in a comfortable lounge chair is probably a good way of understanding some of Ricardo’s music. As such a listening session is not part of Amnesia’s summer lineup this year but we recommend his All Night Long set on the Amnesia terrace at Cocoon on September 23rd. He will play uninterruptedly from midnight till close so if you are on the island at this time you are in for a treat. Electronic music’s enfant terrible will do his share to make a good party, make sure to contribute yours! Sources & Quotes: Faze Mag (www.fazemag.de) Slices (www.electronicbeats.net)

ARTIST CHECK “Pots of golden melodies” is how Matador’s friend Richie Hawtin describes the sound of the Irishman with the real name Gavin Lynch. Reduced bleeps, chimes and carillons adorn the signature wobbly Matador bass, composing an artistic synthesis that fits perfectly into Hawtin’s Minus label. Matador’s sets have always been a treat at this year’s ENTER. line ups, most recently in August, when he played the Sake Bar at Space for a warm-up and fit into the mood of the room perfectly. A trained chef, Matador soon gets into sound engineering, a similarly creative task but with less edible ingredients. The savoury results were instantly signed by the three biggest techno labels Cocoon, Plus8 and Minus. Pieces like “Kingswing”, “Flux” and “Svinx” have become standout tracks in sets by all kinds of DJs. Especially in the influential Richie Hawtin he has found a true admirer and ardent fan, something Gavin feels very honoured about: “As a producer I’ve worked hard over the past 6 years to get my sound the way I wanted, and with stuff like this happening, it makes it all worth while.”

All Matador tracks originate from nightly studio sessions because that is the natural time when the iconic ‘Matador sound’ emerges. Tried and tested in his hometown Dublin, the productions soon found their way all over the globe. His tour calendar for the next months includes dates in Germany, Tunisia, the USA and of course our crazy party island: Matador will play live at Space on September 26th at the final ENTER. party of the season.

This man likes cats! Not only do all of the releases at his Suara label feature a cat on the cover but he also purrs and meows in his tweets and calls fans his “kitties”. Coyu’s wacky mission statement for the label is: “All about music… and cats”. Cats are considered idiosyncratic, independent creatures with their own will so it is an apt heraldic animal for the Spanish label that has always tried to stand out. Even with its name, as “Suara” is not Spanish but Catalan, meaning “right now, at this moment”. Recently, Suara celebrated its 100th release with a remix EP of Coyu’s “Southern Instinct”. Coyu’s recent solo remix of Fatboy Slim’s “Right here, right now” tailored the legendary, 14-year-old track for deep house parties on the beach, making people dance barefoot in the sand. Coyu’s first pure Suara label night at Pacha’s Global Room in August was a resounding success. A hard working woman, dedicated to her craft and in love with her profession, a charming chick that always gives 110% behind the decks: We are talking about the one and only Heidi Van Den Amstel. The blond firecracker and one of the leading ladies in dance music has been influencing the scene for over a decade now. Her former BBC Radio 1 show “In New DJ’s We Trust”, supporting young upcoming artists, helped expedite the careers of many and her global Jackathon events are not be missed. As of late she is still holding it down on BBC Radio 1 each Thursday night with her own show “Radio 1’s Residency” and constantly touring the world to make people dance. Heidi was born in Windsor, Ontario (Canada) just across from Detroit, where her fascination with electronic music began. She decided to relocate to London back in 2000, which promised to be the turning point of her career and where she discovered her craft.

In 2003, Heidi was part of the organization team behind the opening of the well known record shop Phonica, which was a solid foundation for her career. Around 2006, when Get Physical Records was at their peak, the M.A.N.D.Y. guys took the young girl under their wings and Heidi started touring the world with them. In 2011 she released a compilation album on Get Physical and based on its success her personal label “Heidi presents Jackathon Jams” was born. Today, she travels around the globe, living and breathing through music and her Jackaton parties have developed into a recognized brand attracting massive crowds everywhere Heidi goes.

As a DJ keen on arranging musical journeys and with lots of 80’s flavoured synths and vibes in his productions, H.O.S.H. has become one of the most influential Diynamic players ever since his debut album in 2010. “I get bored very fast. But music is the constant thing in my life which doesn’t bore me”, reveals H.O.S.H. and neither does he bore his audience though playing weekly Ibiza dates this summer at Sankeys. In September there are four more Diynamic dates in addition to two guest appearances at Pacha’s Insane nights on Fridays.

“We all had our dreams when we were young and it’s never too late to live out your dreams”, is H.O.S.H.’s very own persuasion and also motto of his recent project “Forever young” which consists of four consecutive vinyl releases on Diynamic, constituting a complete, new album. KiNK Let‘s get kinky
A kink in a person is some bizarre, eccentric peculiarity or fondness, the term is often used with a sexual connotation. Actually, a great number of DJs this summer are spicing up their sets with a little kink once in a while: The productions of the young Bulgarian DJ are apt for house and techno sets of every calibre, mysteriously adaptable to different moods, set times or even styles. Whereas his 2013 remix of Rachel Row’s “Follow the step” can be heard in beach bars all over the island, he can also easily entertain Amnesia’s terrace for Cocoon, playing for instance his “Black Noise” remix of Adam Port. KiNK’s signature sound makes his productions easily recognizable but never predictable. KiNK is Sofia based Strahil Velchev, who has made music since he was 20-year-old when he got hold of one of the first modular software
synthesizers. Nowadays he usually plays live with a combination of old analogue gadgets and his laptop, additionally including a handful of vinyls. Running a busy tour schedule, a new artist album is due on Ovum recordings and productions are on their way with some of the scene’s most prodigious players. What luck we have that Dixon’s first dream in life didn’t come true! The young Steffen Berkhan wanted to become a professional football player. After a bad injury at the beginning of the 90’s he had to give up sports and started playing in Berlin’s legendary techno clubs instead. In 2005 eventually he finds his true home and destiny within the Innervision label, together with Henrik Schwarz and the duo Âme. Their hunch for quality house and deep sounds brings them to the most influential clubs in the world, often with full fledged label showcases when several of their artists take over the whole night. Dixon’s keen instinct of what works on the dancefloor is very important for him as he is
the label’s A&R. With Gotham’s “Ten Walls” for instance he was quick to sign what would become one of the Ibiza tracks of the season. In September Dixon and the Innervision guys are visiting Ibiza for Space and Amnesia showcases. Come for a much needed deep house treatment with the certain quirky edge! And the morale of the Dixon tale is: When your dream is shattered, fulfil your next one! Vincent New rave order
Have you ever wondered how producers of electronic music come up with the names for their tracks? How come, for instance, Levon Vincent thought his instrumental beast of a techno track is best described by the title “Man or Mistress”? More important than the title though is its huge success in the sets of the greatest techno DJs all over the world. Sven Väth even put it on his Mix Compilation in 2011 as one of his 25 favourite tracks of the season. Consequently, Levon Vincent is part of a quickly growing group of Americans who’ve made it in the European dominated EDM scene. He first came into contact with djing in the 80’s and soon decided that this is what he wants to do. On his label “Novel Sound” he releases dark and moody tech-house and techno: “Woman is the Devil” or “These Games” for instance, made for early morning raves in derelict industrial areas. Or “Late Night Jam” in 2009, which was his first

track that was released across the ocean, on German Ostgut Records. Last year eventually, Vincent received the honours to compile mix number 63 of the renowned Fabric compilation series on which he included seven of his own tracks, erecting a landmark of his current sound. This year’s release “Rainstorm II” is a melodic house production with a simple structure, boasting an unmistakable functionality on the dance floor. e z i o N s Boy German croissant?
As French as Berlin can get: That’s the unchained electro sound of Alex Ridha, interpreting sound and ideas of the French Ed Banger and Kitsuné labels with his very own dirty, industrial Berlin background. Making music for over ten years now, Boys Noize releases on his own label and has managed to establish a very distinctive trademark sound for himself that is becoming somewhat iconic. Great was the commotion among his followers when in 2011 he produced “Adonis”, a completely differently sounding release for Cocoon. The harsh and monotonous techno track got him completely new fans but disappointed aficionados in the electro corner. It is still one of his most successful tracks to date and defined the twelfth season of Cocoon on the island of Ibiza.

Applying his sounds to prestigious tracks from Depeche Mode, Justice, Pet Shop Boys, Rammstein and the Chemical Brothers has made Alex a coveted remixer, “boysnoizing” everything that comes his way. His live shows are loud and sweaty with wild and sometimes avant-garde arrangements, unrepeatable and capturing the party spirit of the moment. Motor City Drum Ensemble The musical gecko
Contrary to what the name implies, MCDE is actually one person: Danilo Plessow, born in Southern Germany. The motor city is Detroit of course, the origin of the techno movement, but also refers to Stuttgart, the German town of automobiles and Danilo’s birthplace. As a kid he starts playing the drums for the school’s bigband and becomes interested in jazz. It is this early influence of jazz, soul, funk and hip-hop that caters for the rich and rounded approach of Motor City Drum Ensemble’s eclectic sets. Spinning mainly House and Techno, he also takes us on short excursions into other genres. His much acclaimed ‘DJ Kicks’ compilation celebrates the heritage of club music with a mix that is easy living room listening as well as a danceable club set.
His wholesome understanding of music makes him an ideal remixer for countless artists like Caribou, Steve Bug and DJ T. The legendary Motor City Drum Ensemble remix of NuFrequency’s “Fallen Hero” has become one of the most charted among DJs of all different styles. Like a gecko, the DJ in Danilo adapts to every surrounding and blends into the mood, atmosphere and style perfectly. Witness that at Kehakuma, the Japanese themed underground party at Space Ibiza!

COCOON Closing
Monday, September 30th
_____________________________________________________
What a season for the German promoter! After a difficult 2012, the island institution that is Cocoon proved this summer that they are still a force to be reckoned with. Instead of providing more DJs than their competitors, they deliberately reduced the concept to two a night, with the occasional live act in between. This gave DJs time and place for their sets, unheard of at normal Ibiza club nights. Somewhat of a classic is the line-up for the final party on September 30th. The terrace will be in the experienced hands of Ricardo Villalobos and his Romanian friend Raresh while Sven Väth plays the main room as there is arguably no one on this island who owns this place more than him. Expect some additional special guests and surprises as Cocoon parties never stop until the sun shines through the roof windows of the terrace when mayhem is at its utter peak. When Amnesia finally closes its doors nobody has to go home as the label is notorious for the crazy and free afterhour starting around noon on Tuesday. Line Up: Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh, Tobi Neumann

Straight after the Matinee closing, the club‘s own farewell party takes over seamlessly in the morning hours of the Sunday and lasts for at least 10 hours until about 5pm when the “Closing Fiesta” of Space offers an ideal occasion for a carry on. The line up is spectacular as every year with some of the summer’s favourite DJs. The guys at Amnesia always have an ace up their sleeves in the form of special guests yet to be announced. Expect a packed, sunlit terrace and an unparalleled vibe for a party that is arguably one of the best every summer. Adiós Amnesia, see you in 2014.

In a turbulent season with new promoters, clubs and nights it is always comforting to know a familiar place where you can go to and be sure that you are going to have great time. Although Luciano had moved his night from Thursdays to Tuesdays, the great family atmosphere at his Ushuaia party in the open air prevailed, this season with great guest appearances by Richie Hawtin and Dennis Ferrer among many of his Vagabundos friends. The closing event on September 17th will again be a ‘Festival edition’, meaning that the party takes over all of the Ushuaia complex, including a dancefloor by the Ushuaia Tower’s pool and the roof of the Tower. Returning used and abused … but loving it! What a holiday experience Loco Dice’ own night was this summer. Introducing and headlining your first, own party is always difficult, especially so in a crazy season like this where there was so much competition from new venues and promoters. The party of Loco Dice gained more and more attention through the weeks and so his first Ushuaia season can be counted to the success stories of 2013. Firmly established in the scene for years,
Dice could rely on friends like Richie Hawtin, Jamie Jones, Dubfire and Carl Cox to make much lauded guest appearances. Now for the closing it’s all in the family, a Desolat showcase with acts from his own label only: tINI, who threw her own free party on the island every Wednesday, will warm up Ushuaia nicely before Martin Buttrich will grace the venue with one of his great live performances. The man who established the label together with Dice will have a prominent slot before an extended (!!) spectacle by the party host himself. Ants don’t like winter. In tropical regions they are active all year long but in the cooler Balearic climate they survive the winter in a state of dormancy. Join the colony at the closing event of Ants before it’s too late and it becomes inactive for the colder months. Catering mainly for workers and residents, the new Saturday afternoon event drew large numbers of tourists too, with impeccable underground line-ups featuring recurring artists like Reboot, Los Soruba, Andrea Oliva and Uner. The concept together with cutting edge sounds was a great combination and made it one of the few newcomer parties of 2013 that proved a total success. The closing’s line-up is probably the best of the season, as it should be, and boasts Reboot as headliner who’s almost made the party his own with sun drenched, banging sets adding a Latin flavour. Deetron and Timo Maas will also contribute their share of underground house. And as 2013 was the summer of Vagabundo’s shooting star Andrea Oliva, he is on the bill as well, together with special guest and Ants-debutant Nicole Moudaber. Ants is one of the few parties that is really packed in the afternoon already, when the DJ booth is set up on the other side of Ushuaia right next to the beach, so coming early is recommended.
Saturday, October 5th
Ushuaia always had it’s fair share of underground events, but in 2013, with two brand new nights that catered for music‘s non-commercial end, the open air venue took a huge step towards credibility and musical quality. Loco Dice’ “Used and Abused” on Thursdays and Saturdays’ “Ants” were valuable new additions to the clubs line-up, which also boasted reliable crowd pullers like Avicii, Ingrosso/Axwell and of course David Guetta. Together with a return of island favourite Luciano on Tuesdays it has been a wellrounded and incredible weekly schedule, which culminates in a greatly anticipated closing party on October 5th. We would be hugely surprised not to see Luciano and Loco Dice there. And as at the opening, which saw a show by Sven Väth, expect some very special other guests, too!

Get excited, because the Zoo Project and Channel Zoo Closing Parties will be big! Already confirmed guests and residents include Margaret Dygas, Taimur & Fahad, Acid Mondays, Evan Baggs, Karina, Nic & Kaleb, Defex, Funk E, Jeancedric and Jonathan Tena. Of Course, all the residents will make their mark for the closing festivities and have you shake your tail off to their sound, burning some serious calories to keep the memory burning through the winter months. Reflecting back on the fun times had, some pleasant surprises in the venue this year included a new bbq concept, stunning hand made decorations, an additional arena and a Mandala area. The Zoo home was transformed into an adult playground through the hot summer months and the two events Channel Zoo Wednesdays and Zoo Project Saturdays have thrived each week with smiling faces eager to dance under the sun.
The new Asian fusion, fresh and delicious bbq corner followed the leading trend of healthy lifestyle, was always a delicious treat between the beats. And the Animal Hospital located behind the pool arena, carried a Berlin underground touch to it with a handmade wooden booth, comparably smaller to the two main dancefloors but a more intimate experience and a getaway from the busy main floors. The Mandala area was perfect to get back to tranquility by requesting a session from one of the professional healers or enjoying some relaxation time with live musicians showing off their talent, simply an opportunity to purify your energy in the spiritual circle. Body painting, souvenir stands, tarot reading and gorillas climbing trees are a small example of what was going down at the Zoo on Saturdays. Sayonara to another season of Sake-fuelled mayhem, courtesy of techno-Shinobi Richie Hawtin. ENTER.’s fulminate second season at Space was a feast for ears and eyes. Having adopted all five floors at Space to his purposes, Hawtin provided a weekly get-together out of all proportions. The quality he brought in with guests like Dubfire, Sven Väth, Maya Jane Coles, Loco Dice and Visionquest was outstanding and also in promotion he went extravagant ways with free parties in San Antonio and Playa d’en Bossa, a radio-show, forays into Jockey Club at Salinas Beach and a weekly Youtube videoclip recorded at his villa’s pool. Before Hawtin’s own extended closing set Paco Osuna will warm up the main room and Minus label’s own Matador will play
live. On the terrace this year’s resident Maya Jane Coles provides another opportunity to check out her wonderful, deep productions, supported by Josh Wink and Hot since 82. In a sympathetic move Hawtin also invited Claude vonStroke to play, which is especially nice since with his Dirtybird party at Sankeys he was the main competitor of ENTER. on Thursdays. was quick to pick up Solomun for his own, full-fledged party and put him on Sunday nights. As he already had a weekly Diynamic label night at Sankeys this made for a busy summer for Solomun. “A year ago I would have never thought that
we would be talking about two residencies. This was a long process over the winter and we trusted our instincts in the end”, he tells us. At Pacha the German DJ featured an interesting +1 concept: Every week he played with only one artist, chosen by himself personally, so he had a special and grown relationship with each and everyone of them. His guests included DJ Koze, DJ Hell and Miss Kittin, for instance. Finishing every night by going back2back with his guest and having moved the DJ booth right to the middle of the dancefloor helped to create legendary
nights with top notch music, usually in the deep house department. For the closing night Solomun will team up with a singer: The legendary voice of Moloko, Roisin Murphy, will perform live with Solomun’s deep house grooves and this looks set to be nothing short of amazing. Another summer of “Circoloco” in the “Paradise” of Ibiza has rolled around and each year the infamous venue of DC10 underlines a solid leadership over the Ibiza party scene. The highlight of closing festivities, an honoring of the summer season and the recognition of the winter ahead, DC10 is a big must do! A celebration of life, music, creativity and a déjà vu of the fun times had, the DC10 closing party attracts punters from all around the world for the last union for what might as well be the party of the season.

TheClubbingBible.Net
Opening doors as early as noon, with both rooms ready to go and the garden transformed into an outdoor arena, the party turns into a wild adventure with mind-blowing performances from today’s finest. There is nothing more exciting and adventurous than the season’s last blowout DC10 festivities. What once was a small We Love Space afterhours with a couple of old amplifiers, turned into a massive event machine with big room soundsystem and each year we celebrate this triumph with a magnified, euphoric and epic closing party.
Some start the work week on a Monday frustrated with the days ahead, but for Ibiza Mondays mean one thing, Circoloco! Each year the party adopts a new concept accompanied by improvements throughout the venue and 2013 proved to be a true Circoloco “lifestyle” and a gathering of musical minds alike. The outdoor garden and the backstage have undergone a big construction from the stony grounds to a stable wooden floor providing solid foundation for boogies or rest stop for the rowdy ravers. An urban myth is that the ground on which DC10 stands before gaining global recognition, was used as farmland on which a private plane with model DC10 crashed back in the day, marking the beginning of the long lived history of the legendary venue.
The fairly new addition on the clubs agenda, Jamie Jones’ Paradise take over, going for a second run this year, was moved to Wednesdays from Thursdays. Jamies’ crew learned a lot in 2012, which marked the beginning of Paradise, and season 2 was blooming bigger and better. The party showed a huge demand throughout the summer months and was packing DC10 with both rooms open on a few occasions. If you were lucky enough you might have ended up in one of the Paradise afterhours, which Jamies’ team organized for the early morning. There is still time to experience Paradise: The last 4 events for the summer will feature artists such as Tale of Us, Simon Baker, Robert James, Cajmere and more.

BOAT PARTY
Capadi Rebels FROM: MARINA BOTAFOCH
The force is with the rebels! We‘ve known that ever since Star Wars. The Capadi revolutionaries with their residents Deniz Bilgic and Jiggy are going into their fourth summer on our beloved pirate island, which is a reliable sign for the quality of services offered and accomplished success, especially in Ibiza‘s fast paced party scene. Against an uber-commercial, bling-bling society the Capadi boat sets sail every Tuesday and Friday riding the underground-wave into the sunset. Well known DJs from Cocoon, Cadenza, Desolat and also Minus have sailed with the Capadi boat. ‚Thank god we are rebels‘
82
TheClubbingBible.Net
is a forward thinking concept and it is this progressive flair that has made the Rebels catamaran party one of Ibiza‘s most sought after boats. The rebels do not believe in trashy funky house and cheesy chill-out: The Capadi boat runs on propelling Tech House. Up to 150 crazy party pirates and five hours of sea, sun, and music for a rebellious trip of fun. A rebel, at last! Departures: Every Tuesday and Friday at 17:00 from Marina Botafoch. Meeting Point & Tickets: Tantra bar in Playa d‘en Bossa at 15:30.

LAST WORD
LAST WORD
BRING BACK
SLOW SETS BRING BACK
THE LOVE The last magazine of the season, the last days of sunshine for quite a while, closing parties and emotional goodbyes to friends old and new, at least until next summer. There has been so many memorable parties and after parties and so many we wished we could remember. Sunsets, dinners, moments and life experiences. It is difficult not to become sentimental thinking of the past months and years remembering days gone by.

TheClubbingBible.Net
As we close the book on summer 2013 looking back on a season of lows and many, many highs, we cannot help but cast an eye to the future with hope in our hearts to a new era of clubbing and... who knows.... maybe to another summer of love. Let’s become again a little bit more romantic in 2014, bring back the slow sets to the club! Because the boys in the house all want back these moments of … nervous, sweaty palms. The scene gets blurred..
“You had seen her the moment you entered the club but now is finally the moment you‘ve been waiting for. As you walk over, the lights change from flashing colours to a more serene white. Its time to ask the question. Despite the fear, there is no doubt about the response. Even from the most ruthless of girls anything other than a „yes“ would be too cruel, even if only out of pity. The DJ lowers the music, microphone in hand, to announce what everyone already knows what is coming. It’s time for the slow set. Leading her, hand in hand, you make your way to the dance floor. A long standing tradition of a by gone era, the slow dance commences. At last you have her in your arms swaying to the latest cheesy love song, a dance that even the most uncoordinated can master. With everyone on the dance floor in pairs your confidence grows and you know what must be done. The next action can lead to one of two outcomes. The rigid stance loosens and one hand slides from her waist to her buttox. If unsuccessful, the hand is guided firmly and unceremoniously back to its original position. The remaining minutes of the song seem like an eternity as you count down until your retreat to your unsympathetic friends, head hung low in failure. Alternatively, should your uncouth advance be received more favourably, a green light is given to lean in for a kiss.”
Like the rutting of stags in the wild, slow dance is one of mankind‘s mating rituals. It is part of our nature. It could well be how your father met your mother. It is a tradition. It is where babies come from. We have lost this from modern clubbing. There have been many advances in nightclubs and electronic music, but it is more of a solitary experience today. All focus is on the DJ with everyone looking forward, eyes fixed on the guy in the booth. Too worried about being cool, has clubbing lost its soul? It is time to get back to our roots and a call for a return to simpler times and values. t is time to bring back slow sets. A time to bring back the love. Image as a long night of pounding techno draws to a close, Marco Carola announces „This one goes out to all the lovers“ before playing Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. The choice of song may be in need of updating from the 80-ies ballads that bring to mind perms and questionable fashions. But what a sight it would be to see Ibiza‘s dance floors full of sweaty clubbers coupled up in the loving embrace of a slow dance? By Lorcan Kelly
