NEWS EVENTS MXGP Update DESALLE BATTLES INTO FINAL ROUNDS

F

rom the opening round way back in March, to the final round in Imola at the MXGP of Italy, the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championships is a busy calendar filled with hard-fought races from one end of the globe to the other. It’s in the middle between the start and the finish that the full drama of the series plays out. From weekend to weekend some of the most talented riders in the world battle it out in the long, drawn-out quest for the checkered flag, and the increase in the points tally. A lot can happen through multiple weekends of racing in all types of weather and track conditions. Each race is a chance to climb in the points standing or drop down the bracket. If there’s one thing we’ve seen throughout the 2018 season it’s consistency, the consistency of Thor/Monster Energy/ Kawasaki rider Clement Desalle.

Starting at the first race at the MXGP of Argentina where he welcomed the season with a third place finish, Desalle has continued to put in the hard work needed to pick away at the points. “It’s good to be consistent with another podium. I’m a little disappointed with a few mistakes which I made, but I still got the podium,” Desalle said after the race. “Now it’s important to stay consistent through the last three GPs to maintain my third place in the championship standings.” It’s a run that’s included seven podium finishes, as well as a first place overall victory at the MXGP of Russia in Orlyonok. As the season heads into its three final rounds, all that hard work has landed Desalle squarely in third place in the MXGP Championship points tally. His most recent performance took place at the amazing Gorna Rositza Circuit in Sevlievo, Bulgaria. continued on page 12...

Fans of MXGP racing turn out to the races no matter what the weather. Hot, cold, muggy or rainy, they show up to watch their riding heroes fight for the checkers. Throughout the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championships, Thor/Monster Energy/ Kawasaki rider Clement Desalle has demonstrated the focused determination to stay standing in the top three of the championship points tally.

Desalle’s Thor/Monster Energy/Kawasaki teammate placed in the top 10 of moto two at the second leg of the Asian GP in Indonesia.

At another consistent performance at the MXGP of Bulgaria, Thor/Kawasaki rider Clement Desalle’s 3-4 finish put him at number three overall for the weekend, and cemented his spot in the points standing.

At the first leg of the Asian GP held in Pangkal Pinang, Indonesia, Thor/Suzuki racer Evgeny Bobryshev rode two strong motos, placing in the top 10 in both.

Again, it was that consistency in the series’ 17th round that earned Desalle a third place overall after running 3-4 in the two motos.

Just a week earlier at the Swiss MXGP in Frauenfeld, Desalle went for the second spot on the podium in the first moto after a dogfight with Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings from the moment the gate dropped. He claimed fourth in the second moto. The results kept him steadfast in third place, a position he had held for much of the season.

Desalle is currently at 581 points, and if he stays consistent, Desalle can lay claim to that third place in the championship standings. Running number four just behind him is Honda rider Tim Gajser with 549 points.

At various races prior, Desalle picked up points, aiming for the podium. He earned a second place moto at the round 13 in Semarang, Indonesia, at the second leg of the MX of

Barbecue, Dunlop Style A HOT REWARD FOR A GOOD RELATIONSHIP

P

arts Europe celebrates the relationship it has with all of its dealers, and often times likes to recognize those who step up their efforts. The Antwerp Motor Store, located in Antwerp, Belgium, has been a Parts Europe dealer since it opened its doors in 2008. The independent aftermarket shop specializes in service, repair, customizing and selling pre-owned Harley-Davidsons. In honor of the store’s 10th anniversary and the fact that it buys more Dunlop tires than any other store in the BeNeLux region, Parts Europe awarded it a custom Dunlop-themed barbecue as a special thank you. Parts Europe Magazine would like to congratulate the Antwerp Motor Store on its 10-year anniversary and its Dunlop sales success! ■

Parts Europe Street Catalogue Update AVAILABLE NOW IN FIVE LANGUAGES

P

arts Europe’s headquarters features workers from a broad range of Europe countries. The company works hard to make sure that its dealers will find someone to talk to in their own mother language.

Now, the company has taken a big step and translated its huge Street catalogue into German, French, Italian and Spanish. This update will help dealers to find the products faster and easier, and it will also benefit consumers. All translated versions are also available online for browsing or for downloading. Dealers take note – when you’re browsing through the catalogue, you’ll see many rider pictures. Those are Parts Europe employees, many of whom are serious motorcycle enthusiasts. Not only do they speak your same language, they also share your passion. ■

Five Decades Strong All-New Gear for 2019

F

ounded in 1968 by four-time World Motocross Champion Torsten Hallman, Hallman Racing became America’s first motocross racewear brand.

Now entering its 51st year, THOR continues to provide riders with products that are built to perform at the highest level, including a new range of apparel for 2019 that features 20 distinct garments, including the new PRIME PRO series of jerseys and pants.

Off-Road A cross-country rider carving virgin single track or taking to the open desert relies on garments that can be quite different from the gear used by a motocross rider. THOR’s Terrain line of purpose-built gear is designed to provide fit and comfort for long days in the saddle. With a two-way front zipper that adapts to riding position, a full mesh liner for breathability, zip-off sleeves, front and rear vents, a rear storage pocket, and the ability to pack easily into a belted pouch, the Terrain Jacket begs for adventure. Available in Green Camo or Light Gray/Black or Black, the jacket comes in five sizes from M to 3XL and complements the matching Terrain Jersey and Pants.

Racewear THOR says Prime Pro is its most advanced racewear to date – built around the notion that unrestricted mobility, minimal weight and athletic fit all allow the rider to work more efficiently with the motorcycle. The Prime Pro collection of jersey and pants include the Infection series in black/acid or maroon/red, the Floral series with an artist inspired “aloha” vibe, the two-color Jet series, and the charcoal/camo Fighter series. All offer five sizes of jersey and seven sizes of pant. “From concept to creation, Prime Pro was developed with insight and testing from our elite riders to deliver next level performance,” says THOR Brand Manager Josh Shorter.

Featuring chest panels certified according to European Standard EN 14021:2003 and back protectors certified according to European Standard EN 1621-2:2014, THOR’s Sentinel, Guardian and Sentry products carry the PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) label so you can be assured that critical testing requirements have been met. Gloves The glove is the most critical point of contact between rider and machine. The new “go-to” for many of THOR’s professional athletes, the all-new AGILE Glove – available in six color combinations – features an angled slip on cuff for easy access, a single layer perforated palm for airflow, ventilated stretch backhand material, wrapped inner-thumb, and silicone treated finger tips for improved lever control.

Ape hangers are enduring favorites among big twin customizers, and Biltwell’s quiver is extensive. Shown here is its biggest ape hanger bar, attached to the popular Thunder riser.

Utility mirrors fit select stock and aftermarket Harley-Davidson lever perches using a simple button cap Allen bolt. They are also available with a CNC-machined billet alloy P-clamp for custom installation.

Biltwell Utility mirrors for custom motorcycles are available in two shapes – round and rectangular – and in chrome or matte black powdercoated finishes.

Biltwell’s single-cable Whiskey throttle is available in 22mm and 25.4mm sizes. The dual-cable is available in 25.4 mm. The Whiskey throttle tube is also available separately for installing Biltwell grips on stock Harley hand controls.

B

ecause its classic helmets and headgear enjoy such a big share of the retro/modern motorcycle scene, some people might think Biltwell is no longer the innovative player in the bolt-on game that launched the brand in 2006.

Biltwell’s grip line comprises five styles and five colors, and is available in two sizes for 22mm and 25.4mm handlebars. Installing Biltwell grips on stock Harley hand controls requires retrofitting the maker’s Whiskey throttle tube, available separately.

Biltwell cockpit components include everything your customers need to customize the command center on both modern and vintage HarleyDavidsons – bars, risers, grips, throttles and mirrors.

Think again. This year alone Biltwell has introduced more than two dozen new handlebar SKU’s for custom bikes – everything from smooth and dimpled to throttle-by-wire styles for late-model Harley-Davidsons. To complement the company’s bar offerings, Biltwell also makes risers, throttles, grips and mirrors; essentially everything your customers need to build a custom chopper cockpit from scratch. ■

.W. Speaker wants riders to see well and for dealers to sell well. Those aspects are at the heart of the company’s Adaptive Headlight display program, which lets dealers show off J.W. Speaker’s high-tech lighting with an attractive, informative counter display unit. Dealers only need to place a single Parts Unlimited order of three eligible lamps in order to receive the premium counter display at no charge. While the dealer can choose the combination of lamps, one of them must be a round 18cm Adaptive 2 Series headlamp to mount in the display. The display is a sales tool for showing off the technology behind the Adaptive Series lights. The LED headlights are “adaptive” because they know when a rider is leaning or turning and they dynamically adjust the light accordingly. The intelligent design helps to eliminate potentially dangerous blind spots when cornering. The targeted LED beam shines right where a rider needs it to see their way safely through corners. The unique lights will be further explained and demonstrated for customers via an included 18cm LED screen pre-loaded with a video that discusses the technology

his is a special year for Parts Europe. Two of the company’s house brands – THOR and Drag Specialties – are celebrating their 50th anniversaries. In the fast moving powersports market constancy is rare, so a 50 years anniversary means 50 years of working hard to be successful and fulfill the needs of the customers. Next year Parts Europe will celebrate its 10th anniversary! It’s your chance to celebrate these accomplishments with Parts Europe by attending the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany in October, and EICMA in Milan, Italy in November. Parts Europe will have a big presence at both of these important trade fairs. “The truth is coming from the market,” says Xavier Williart, sales manager Europe of Parts Europe. “There is no better way to get important information than meeting our dealers face-to-face. We always try to improve the range of products to fulfill their needs and adjust our services. We are looking forward to see every dealer at Intermot in Cologne or EICMA in Milan. I promise, to visit Parts Europe is always worth it.” Parts Europe is always increasing the number of brands it offers its dealers, and every brand is constantly developing new products. While Parts Europe works hard to keep its catalogues updated with the latest, greatest products, nothing compares to an in-person visit with product experts and the company’s highly motivated and experienced sales team. Meeting in Cologne and Milan offer the perfect opportunity to do so. For 2018, Parts Europe invites everybody to visit Intermot and EICMA and the company will be offering a new service to its dealers – a Hotel-Find-Service. Dealers planning to visit Parts Europe at the fairs in Cologne or Milan can ask their sales reps and event team members for details on the new service. The company is working hard to make sure its dealers can get the most out of attending the shows.

Dirt Digger Clutches The Off-Road Upgrade

W

hether they are motocross racers, trail riders or guys and girls just counting on their bikes and ATVs/UTVs for weekend recreation, offroad riders all have one thing in common. They want – make that need – a strong, reliable clutch. They need a clutch that’s transferring every bit of an engine’s horsepower and torque so it can do what it’s supposed to, and do it with an easy feel at the lever. And for all of that Barnett has an answer. Barnett’s Dirt Digger clutch kits, steel-faced billet aluminum pressure plates and the precision-machined billet clutch baskets are the serious upgrades riders look for. All this is available for all the popular ATVs, UTVs and off-road motorcycles right up to current-year models and Parts Europe has it.

the friction material increases oil flow for smooth, more consistent performance and increased life. The kit’s heavy-duty springs are shot-peened and heat-treated for extreme durability, and every kit is premeasured for an exact stack height to ensure an easy fit and optimum performance. Now take things a couple steps further with a Barnett billet pressure plate and clutch basket. Machined from billet aluminum, the pressure plates feature a tempered steel surface guaranteed to never wear out. More than just offering extreme durability, the steel surface dissipates heat better and lowers clutch temperatures. Then there are those billet clutch baskets. Barnett’s Dirt Digger clutch kits, steel-faced billet aluminum pressure plates and the precision-machined billet clutch baskets are a serious upgrade for riders, whether they’re on a dirtbike, ATV or UTV.

While dropping in one of those Dirt Digger replacement kits is a great first move all by itself, including the Barnett pressure plate and clutch basket completes the upgrade on all counts. Adding a super-strong/smooth-action Barnett clutch cable into the package isn’t a bad idea, either. Look at all this piece-by-piece. Substituting a Dirt Digger clutch kit for the OE friction plates, drive plates and springs will significantly upgrade performance. With carbon fiber or Kevlar friction materials, tempered-steel drives and heavy-duty springs that are 10 percent to 15 percent stiffer than OEM the Dirt Digger kits are a big step up from stock. The carbon fiber and Kevlar materials provide a stronger, more positive engagement and the segmented design of

replaceable stainless steel inserts to prevent grooving where the plate tabs make contact. The basket’s oil-passage windows are custom-machined, too, increasing oil flow further reducing operating temperatures and increasing clutch life. Grade 8 fasteners are included and the backing plates come with the center kicker gear already installed where applicable. Add a Barnett cable into this package and every clutch concern an off-road rider might have is addressed once and for all, for their bike, ATV or UTV. ■

Risers and Top Clamps for Custom Style

L

A Choppers believes that size does matter, especially when it comes to handlebar height. To make it easier for riders to get the exact customized look they want, LA Choppers has a huge range of risers and top clamps. There are various designs and applications, three different finishes and height ranges from 25.4mm to 15cm. For touring models from 1999 to current, LA Choppers has handlebar clamp sets that fit under the stock cover. The clamps are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and have a raw finish. The pieces are already tapped for drilling and handlebar installation, and the FL applications include options for handlebars with a diameter of 25.4, 32 and 38mm.

risers have a hidden hardware design for a unique, clean style. They are also available in heights of 38mm, 76mm, 10cm, 14cm (with a 25cm pullback) and 15cm. Check the FatBook for the full range of LA Choppers riser and clamp kits, which also include square column riser kits, brass riser kits, Springer handlebar riser kits and Fusion handlebar riser kits. The Fusion kits are ornately CNC machined for a unique blend of function and art. All of the parts are made in the USA. Typically, new risers from 25.4mm-76mm can be installed without requiring any wiring changes. The stock cables can still be used, so a riser offers an instant upgrade in looks and riding position.

Adjusting handlebar height and reach is a major part of customizing the ride and feel of a customer’s motorcycle. LA Choppers has a big range of risers and top clamps to personalize that fit.

Riders get a lot of choices with LA Choppers solid handlebar riser/top clamp kits, which give a height boost of 38mm, 76mm, 10cm, 14cm (with a 25cm pullback) or 15cm. The kit, which includes two risers and a top clamp, will fit handlebars with a 25.4mm clamping area. In addition to the height, customers also get a choice of finish, with the option of chrome, gloss black or flat black powdercoated. For motorcycles with a 32mm diameter clamping area, the LA Choppers hefty handlebar riser/top clamp kits offer the same choices in heights and finishes. LA Choppers also has standalone risers, with a riser kit for 25.4mm handlebars. The CNC-machined billet aluminum

As for risers that extend beyond 76mm, LA Choppers has cable kits to fit virtually every height option. Choosing which cable kit matches the new riser/handlebar setup is simple thanks to www.handlebarcables.com. Running Wild

New Additions to the Riot Lineup

W

hen introduced in early 2017, the Riot collection represented a major departure from everything previously found in Kuryakyn’s product lineup. The motocross-inspired accessories had the industry talking, lured in new customers, and were yet another example of the ongoing transformation for the Wisconsin, USA-based manufacturer. Riot components are constructed from durable single aluminum castings with a bead-blasted textured finish in satin black or silver, making them more than capable of withstanding abuse on- or off-road.

The initial launch included Riot shift pegs for HarleyDavidson, Indian and Victory, and footpegs and mini boards that utilize Kuryakyn’s range of model-specific splined adapters to fit a variety of V-twin, Triumph, Ducati Scrambler and BMW R nineT models. Now, Kuryakyn has bolstered the Riot lineup with new additions that round out a complete foot control collection for Harley models, and everything is available through Parts Europe. ■

»» Talk with your Parts Europe rep and visit www.kuryakyn.com for more information on the full lineup of Riot accessories.

Riot Floorboards

Riot Brake Pedal Pads

Kuryakyn Riot Floorboards deliver a rugged aesthetic to Touring, FL Softail and Dyna Switchback models without sacrificing form or function. Measuring approximately 29.85cm at their widest point to offer generous foot room and placement options, the tapered and angled profile narrows to a 12.7cm width at the rear to maintain allimportant cornering clearance for aggressive riders. The moto-inspired serrated top surface provides surefooted traction and head-turning looks.

Riot Brake Pedal Pads play the perfect supporting role to the pegs, mini boards and driver floorboards. Available for FL Touring and Softails, as well as FX Dynas and XG Streets, they bolt onto the existing brake pedal to replace the stock rubber pad. Both variations feature the Riot line’s signature raised tooth top for traction, making this a functional, quick and easy upgrade.

Riot Shift Linkages

Universal Riot Heat Shield

The unique design of the Riot Shift Linkage incorporates premium steel heim joints that deliver smooth shifting as even the most aggressive riders bang through the gears. Available as direct replacements for mid control Dynas and Sportsters equipped with forward controls, the angular design with a grooved upper edge offers another significant style upgrade over stock.

While not necessarily part of the foot control category, the new Riot Heat Shield does its job of preventing direct leg or boot contact with exhaust. Included hose clamps offer universal fitment on virtually any diameter pipe, and its relatively small size (15.25cm) allows a variety of placement options depending on where your trouble spot is. The bead-blasted finish holds up extremely well to high temperatures produced from the pipes.

he 2019 Arctiva snow wear collection looks to be its most sophisticated ever, offering attractive, effective and affordable outerwear and base layer garments made with a host of advanced materials created specifically to protect the wearer in harsh winter environments. Materials include a high-denier durable water repellant (DWR) coated polyester outer skin that won’t get stiff in the cold, 3M Thinsulate insulation for featherweight warmth without bulk, Cordura heavy-duty nylon, breathable waterproof membranes, waterproof YKK zippers, 3M Scotchlite reflective panels, and sublimated graphics that won’t scuff, peel or fade. Plus, all Arctiva outerwear is engineered to complement Arctiva layering garments to keep riders warm in the coldest weather. Constructed of wicking polyester with flat lock seams that provide excellent range of motion, Arctiva base layer garments remove moisture while moving with the rider.

and 3M Thinsulate removable liners. The bibs feature a double layer waterproof seat, full-length side leg zippers, boot gaiters and numerous pockets. The Arctiva Eclipse Jacket and Bib set for women boasts construction similar to that of the Mech series. The final offering in Arctiva’s new outerwear line comes in the form of the Youth Comp Jacket and Bib – a combo created with all of the benefits of the adult Comp apparel but in a smaller size.

BASE LAYERS Anyone who has spent a considerable amount of time in a cold climate knows that layering apparel is the best

Lets take a closer look at some of the gear in Arctiva’s new-for-2019 line.

OUTERWEAR Arctiva Vibe outerwear is ideal for backcountry riders who challenge the steep and deep. Constructed with minimal weight and a trim, athletic fit for high-energy riding, Vibe gear features a stretch nylon outer shell with a waterproof, windproof and breathable SympaTex membrane and Cordura overlays in high-wear areas. Vibe pants with side waist adjusters and a removable half bib offer all the same construction features. Arctiva’s mainstream Comp Jacket features a waterproof chassis with 600D polyester overlays in critical wear areas, 3M Thinsulate insulation and a quilted nylon taffeta liner. The Comp Bib uses the same material, but with a double layer waterproof seat, side leg zippers that can be zipped down, side waist adjusters, snow gaiters, and an adjustable inseam that can be shortened by 38mm or 76mm. Designed for racing applications, the un-insulated Comp RR Jacket and bib are constructed of a waterproof and windproof chassis with 600D polyester overlays in critical wear areas. The jacket is built to accommodate tech vests; the bibs have side waist adjusters and adjustable inseams. For the value minded, there is the Pivot Jacket & Bib. Built with a relaxed fit, these insulated garments feature a microporous-coated insulated waterproof 300D polyester outer skin with a quilted nylon taffeta liner. Bibs can be tailored for perfect fit with waist and inseam adjusters. The warmest combo in the Arctiva line, the Mech series jacket and bib features a waterproof and windproof shell made of 500D Cordura nylon overlays in high wear areas

hat a difference a year makes. After 11 races in 2017, Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez certainly had a respectable season going, having won 3 MotoGP races and leading Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso by 16 points in the season championship. But in 11 races this year, Marquez has left all his challengers in his dust with 9 podium finishes—including 5 victories. At press time he led the standings by 59 points, which means he could skip two of the remaining eight races and still hold a 9-point lead in his quest for a 5th MotoGP world title. His seemingly-insurmountable lead has allowed Marquez to begin riding a bit more conservatively than normal. This has

opened the door for Ducati rivals Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo to score victories in the last two races. Losing ground in the recent events have been the Yamahas of Valentino Rossi, Maverick Viñales and privateer Johann Zarco. Racing is always unpredictable, something Marc Marquez knows very well, so he will surely continue to ride fast and will likely win more races before the season concludes. It may be, however, that the best battle still to be fought in 2018 will be for the 2nd position in the championship standings. Follow it all online at www.motogp.com.

■ Marquez leads the way in a great battle at the Motul TT Assen in June that saw the top nine riders finish within 8 seconds of the winner. Suzuki’s Alex Rins (42) came thru to finish 2nd, while Maverick Viñales (25) was 3rd, Andrea Dovizioso (04) was 4th and Valentino Rossi (46) in 5th.

The relatively short and twisty Sachsenring Circuit in Germany is always a great test for the riders and their machines. The MotoGP pack speeds past one of the all-yellow Valentino Rossi club sections at this year’s race.

After double wins in the month of June, Jorge Lorenzo (99) came back after the summer break to score his third victory of 2018 in Austria.

As noted previously, Jorge Lorenzo’s return to his winning form has been quite remarkable. 114 of the 130 points he has scored this season have come in the last six races.

Spanish rider Alex Rins started the season a bit slowly, but he has made steady gains— including a 2nd-place finish at Assen—to move into the top 10 in the point standings.

Introducing Automag Simple but Bold Designs

I

con says that the Automag 2 jacket and Automag gloves are proof that simple can be bold, and it is safe to say that both pieces of new gear were designed to be an aggressive sportbike fashion statement. It’s one of the things Icon does best. The Automag 2 jacket comes in four colors, red, green, gray and blue, but one look at the jacket shows that black is the dominant color – a common Icon theme. The textile chassis is durable on its own, but Icon added ballistic nylon paneling in the impact zones for an extra layer of toughness against abrasion. Tucked behind all of that are the removable D3O impact protectors, including the back, elbows and shoulders.

without being baggy or bulky. It’s ideal for a rider who likes an aggressive riding position but doesn’t always feel the need to tuck in behind the windscreen. In addition, arm straps let a rider adjust the sleeves to reduce wind flap. The matching Automag glove hits at the wrist to provide a lightweight but sturdy complement to the Automag 2 jacket. The glove is constructed from a supple goatskin chassis with abrasion-resistant Ax Suede palm overlays that add another layer right where it’s needed most. The D3O knuckle inserts are bolstered by fused knuckle enhancements for an added dose of asphalt resistance.

Icon’s Automag 2 jacket features simple yet bold styling.

Climate control options for hot days include dual zipper vent cuffs as well as front and back zipper vents so cool air gets in while the hot air gets pushed out. When the weather gets a bit chilly, a removable quilted full-length liner keeps the cold out without disrupting the fashion statement. The Automag 2 features Icon’s Sport Fit, which has precurved arms and is loose enough to provide movement

Accordion flex zones ensure optimum performance while maintaining fit and flexibility, and social media junkies – or someone who just wants to make an old-fashioned phone call – will be pleased by the touchscreen-enabled index finger and thumb. Like the Automag 2 jacket, the Automag glove has plenty of black for a stealth look. It is available in all black for those who really like to be subtle, but it also comes in red, green, blue and white. ■

Rebirth of the 2-Stroke

Performance Exhaust for Today’s Customers

FMF founder Don Emler and his development team recently revised and re-introduced the Q-Stealth 2-stroke silencers for a range of popular, older model 2-strokes.

FMF Racing’s Gnarly pipe

S

ince the early 1970s, and through the early 2000s, 2-stroke motorcycles and sport ATVs were the vehicles of choice for motocross, Supercross, Enduro, Hare Scrambles, trail or dune riding and more.

Oh, there were a few 4-strokes, but the highest performing and best-bang-for-the-buck machines were 2-strokes, hands down. In the late 1990s engine development had evolved to a higher level, and those 4-stroke based machines started to come into their own. The initial driving force behind this momentum shift came mostly from the Japanese OEMs, and appealed to many of the enthusiastic participants of those days. For a while, it seemed that 4-stroke bikes were going to dominate all forms of riding and racing without question.

50

petitiveness and just plain fun of a 2-stroke machine will never go away. In fact those smokers, whether new or old, have been making a strong comeback. Of course, 2-strokes never really went away, just look at the youth classes. There are even a number of 2-stroke machines competing in World Enduro, Extreme Enduro, and even outdoor motocross. In addition to the current models offered by Beta, Gas Gas, Husqvarna, KTM, Sherco, and Yamaha there are plenty of bikes from the Japanese marques and older 2-strokes from KTM still around and being ridden or raced off-road, on the trails, and at competitive events.

Yes, 4-stroke machines may have had some advantages compared to 2-strokes, but many riders simply changed engine platforms because 4-strokes were different and “the new thing.”

On the four-wheeler side, there were, and still are, thousands of Yamaha Blasters and Banshees out there, plus some classic Honda and Suzuki machines. Of course, FMF Racing is right there with product produced and readily available for a huge range of these machines, new or old.

While a strong performing FMF exhaust on either type of bike can make a huge difference, the simplicity, com-

into keeping its 2-stroke offerings highly competitive, easy to install and readily available around the world. While the newer machines have great modern choices with FMF’s 2.1 series of silencers, Don Emler’s team recently revised and re-introduced the Q-Stealth 2-stroke silencers for the older model 2-strokes. Specifically, that sleek, quiet yet potent Q-Stealth silencer is currently available for the 2002-2007 Honda CR250, the 2003-2007 Kawasaki KX250, the 2003-2008 Suzuki RM250 and the 2004-2010 KTM 200, 250, 300 machines, to name a few. FMF founder Emler personally continues to lead and be heavily involved in the company’s development and work on the 2-stroke product line. Not only does he love riding his own 2-stroke motorcycles, he’s also quite aware and committed to reduced sound levels to help keep riding areas open everywhere. The Q-Stealth and 2.1 Series are proof that FMF is focused on continuing to bring new technology to the 2-stroke enthusiast.

Your 2-stroke riding customers can count on FMF’s Turbinecore 2.1s, Q-Stealths and Turbinecore 2 silencers to be more quiet on the trails and at the sound meter. There is availability for many applications and model years of bike or ATV, big or small. The range covers one or more of these silencer options, whether for play riding or competition. An added bonus? Most of those silencers are FIM enduro compliant. Somewhat similar to the 2.1 series, Q-Stealth silencers are constructed with a larger silencer body offering excellent exhaust flow, perfect mounting and more packing volume. This means less maintenance and more riding fun time for you and your customers! Whether a new or old machine, if your customers adds an FMF Fatty or Gnarly pipe to these excellent silencer options, they’ll have an incredible combination. ■

reat-grandfather Heinz must have been a cool guy. After all, he was a successful motorcycle racer in his home country of Germany. It is no surprise that when his descendants opened a custom motorcycle parts business, they named the company HeinzBikes in his honor.

Two of the latest HeinzBikes products available through Parts Europe are the ALL-INN 2.0 license plate holder and Winglets Micro fender turn signals. They are so new that they are not yet in the pages of the latest Parts Europe catalogs. Meanwhile, the LED handlebar turn signals for Harley-Davidsons continue to be a best-seller for HeinzBikes. All HeinzBikes products are made from high-quality aluminum that has been CNC machined for precision. Color options include black anodized and chrome plated. The ALL-INN 2.0 license plate holder will fit all motorcycle brands and models. It comes in four different versions for license plates with a 180mm width and 200mm height:

The ALL-INN 2.0 license plate holder fits all motorcycle models. It comes in four different lighting options for license plates with a 180mm width and 200mm height.

The ALL-INN 2.0 is easy to mount (HeinzBikes recommends an available Mount Adapter for Harley-Davidson applications), and the new SLIP-INN opening makes it simple to add a license plate. The bright lighting units are E-mark approved, and their SMD technology means they shine 50 percent brighter than LEDs. The LED handlebar turn signals for Harley-Davidsons are exclusively developed and produced by model and year of construction for an accurate fit. HeinzBikes produces 48 versions for OEM Harley handlebars, all sold by the pair. The super slim aluminum housing is almost invisible and matches any bike design, while the LED lighting units are E-mark approved and offer good visibility and safety in traffic. Your customers can choose them as turn signals only or in combination with white driving lights. The signals connect directly to 12V power without the need for a resistor, and they mount directly to the mirrors with the original nut.

The Winglets Micro fender turn signals are brand new for HeinzBikes. The tiny signals are 50 percent smaller than the regular Winglets fender turn signals, but they are nearly 50 percent brighter because of the new SMD lighting technology. The signals can mount to just about any flat surface, though they were designed to fit perfectly on HarleyDavidson fender struts without the need for any adapter plates. The regular Winglets fender turn signals are also available as 3-in-1 indicators with brake, turn and rear lights. ■

ff-road motorcycles are meant to get a little beat up. Whether it’s from branches and rocks on the trail or from tip-overs on the track, dirtbikes are built for tough use.

Moose Racing has a range of products designed to guard parts from all that off-road action, as well as training wheels for the little riders so they can learn without landing in the dirt too often. ROOST 2 HANDGUARDS

CONTOUR 2 DEFLECTOR

Handguards

When it comes to keeping the bike’s controls out of the reach of impact hazards, Moose Racing has the Roost 2 handguards as well as the Contour 2 deflector.

struction materials include a durable injection-molded polypropylene and a composite front plate that provides a solid mounting surface.

The Roost 2 handguards are made of tough composite materials, and the front support bar provides a blend of rigidity and controlled flex. The guards mount directly to the handlebars, and the three-position adjustment for the deflector lets a rider choose their ideal side-to-side placement. The Roost 2 handguards are sold in pairs and include the Contour 2 deflectors.

The top and bottom edge have a rubber over-mold, which helps the shield flex under impact. The Contour 2 deflectors are sold as a pair, and in addition to fitting the Roost 2 handguards, they are also compatible with Moose Racing’s Contour handguards. In case a rider wants to install the deflectors on older Contour handguards, each pair comes with self-tapping screws for easy drilling.

The Contour 2 deflectors have a new shape from Moose Racing’s previous incarnation, and they are designed to offer good coverage without being bulky. The con-

Both the Roost 2 handguards and the Contour 2 deflectors come in white, blue, black, orange, red and green color options.

Exhaust Guards

Moose Racing pipe guards offer a great combination of thorough coverage, durability and style. The 2-stroke carbon fiber pipe guards for Beta models, including the 2013-2018 RR250/300 and 2015-2018 Xtrainer 300, are custom molded to ensure a perfect fit every time. The carbon fiber, antiballistic composite material, fiberglass and high-temperature resins all come together to create a pipe guard with exceptional durability and coverage, providing a 75 percent greater tensile strength than aluminum. ing dents that would rob the system of horsepower. At the same time, the guard helps to increase the gas flow temperature, which in turn increases horsepower. Four-stroke Betas can get the same high level of protection and style with carbon fiber heat shields. Like their 2-stroke counterparts, the 4-stroke version is custom molded. Because 4-stroke models achieve such an in-

tense level of heat, the header pipe can ding easier and the pipes can cause damage to a rider’s pant leg. To prevent both of those things from happening, the Moose Racing heat shields provide a barrier between the pipes and the rest of the world. The Moose Racing 4-stroke heat shields fit the 2010-2018 Beta RR and RS 350, 390, 430 and 480.

MOOSE RACING

Training Wheels

Moose Racing training wheels fit the small-displacement off-road bikes that many riders learned to ride on, with applications for the Honda CRF50F and XR50 (p/n 95010178), Kawasaki KDX50 (p/n 9501-0180), KTM 50 Mini Adventurer (p/n 9501-0184), Suzuki JR50 (p/n 9501-0180) and DRZ70 (p/n 9501-0185), and the Yamaha PW50 (p/n 9501-0181) and TTR50 (p/n 9501-0179). The training wheels provide a more stable ride while learning the fundamentals of the sport. That means novice riders can focus on the basics, like braking, throttle control and steering, without trying to balance at the same time. The mid-mounted solid axle gives the training wheels a well-balanced stance, while its steel construction and strong mounting system keep everything firmly in place. The steel surfaces are powdercoated and the off-road pneumatic wheels are bolted on. Replacement wheels are available separately.

Side Stands

For riders of all ages and sizes, Parts Europe has Moose Racing side stands in stock for a wide range of Husqvarna and KTM models. Available in black, the stands are made from a durable aluminum alloy that makes them lightweight and strong. They are a direct OEM replacement, so the swap is easy to do.

These side stands are a great solution for OE side stands that are a little beat up after some tough use out on the track and trail. ■

Vista Goggles and the XL Roll-Offs

O

ff-road riding and racing is challenging enough without trying to do it blindfolded. An exaggeration, but the point is that once the mud starts flying, that rider might as well be blindfolded. On the track or on the trail clear vision can go away fast, not a good thing. The right goggles, tear-offs and roll-offs are an answer here and for more than 40 years many World Championship Motocross and Enduro competitors have included a set of Pro Grip goggles and accessories in their kit. The quality, performance and features of Pro Grip’s Italianmade eye protection are well known. There are lots of designs and colors to choose from, too, so you can add style to that list. The latest from the company is the Pro Grip Vista goggle and the Vista goggles with XL roll-offs already mounted. They’ll both have riders taking notice. Brand-new and feature packed, there’s a lot to offer here.

GOGGLES AND ACCESSORIES

All Clear Ahead!

Starting with what matters most, the multi-layered mirror lenses, the new Pro Grip Vista is tough where it counts. Anti-scratch and coming with Pro Grip’s patented No-Fog performance and UV protection, the Vista lenses are 1mm thick. They’re also non-stick and light sensitive, taking less than five seconds to go from clear to smoke and vice versa. Pro Grip includes an extra clear lens and a pack of 10 tear-offs with each set of Vista goggles, too. Like most Pro Grip goggles the Vista is wearable with eyeglasses.

Pro Grip’s Vista goggles are comfortable and built to perform. Features include lenses that are anti-scratch and provide no-fog performance and UV protection.

The comfort and usability of the Vista goggles doesn’t begin and end with those pre-cut and molded channels to accommodate eyeglass temples, either. That velvetcolored foam is double-density and hydro-repellent and the Vista’s tear-off system is quick and easy to use. The tear-off pins are built-in. There’s a silicone-treated strap that keeps the goggles from sliding on a helmet, and all this is offered in a wide array of colors. There’s turquoise/black, fluo yellow/red, red/blue, black/white, blue/fluo orange, black, blue and white. Now take things to the next level, the Vista goggles with an XL roll-off system pre-mounted. Besides offering the possibility of mounting tear-offs and roll-offs at the same time, Pro Grip’s new XL roll-off system is big. Extra-large, the roll-off film is 5cm wide for a 30 percent increase in the field of vision, especially for that allimportant downward angle. It’s a real competitive edge and it’s available pre-installed on the Vista goggles. If your customers already have a pair of Pro Grip goggles and are looking for a roll-off system, Pro Grip has 4cm systems that fit all other goggles in the lineup. ■

he multi-valve Harley-Davidson MilwaukeeEight has been around for a while now. First rolled out in the FL Touring models, the engine’s applications have spread across the lineup. With those new fitments have come some new gasket and seal demands. Cometic Gasket has them all. design is gone, replaced with just a battery cover. The real oil tank is under the transmission now and requires a new oil-pan gasket. Cometic has that. It’s worth noting that this engine has been around long enough to require service in some instances, hot-rod modifications in others. Now it’s a new molded-rubber piece and Cometic Gasket has an exact-fit replacement for OE. There’s more. The Milwaukee-Eight Softail’s oil filler spout is a new design and here again the sealing has switched to a molded-rubber gasket. Cometic has a replacement gasket for that. Additionally, Cometic has a replacement for the new engine-oil dip stick O-ring on the 2018 Milwaukee-Eight Softail. One of the more noticeable changes comes with the 2018 Softail’s oil tank. Rider Protection

New Products for Off-Road

lpinestars’ new range of rider protection systems is inspired by the company’s long history of competing at the highest levels of motocross, and draws on lessons learnt from the dirt.

The new additions include the BNS Tech-2, the Bionic-10 Carbon Knee Brace and the Bionic-7 Knee Brace Set, all of which are fully CE-certified. According to Alpinestars, the BNS Tech-2 offers reassuring levels of protection and has been designed to help prevent injury by dissipating and diverting impact forces away from the neck and spine in a crash. Constructed from a carbon polymer compound, the lightweight system works when the rider’s helmet makes contact with the frame at the moment of impact by providing a clean, solid surface that instantly channels damaging impact energy away from the rider’s neck and straight on to the support, the company says. A highlight of the BNS Tech-2 is the rear stabilizer, an exclusive feature to Alpinestars that the company says offers an alternative load path and dissipates energy instantly by transmitting them across the rider’s back and shoulders and away from the spine. The completely new design incorporates a new lightweight rear section, together with a rear support edge that fits closer to the body and an updated chin-plate design.

10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 degrees – that Alpinestars says prevent hyper-extension injuries. Once selected, an integrative mechanical guiding system keeps the position of the knee cup securely in place while still allowing multi-directional freedom of movement Another new feature is the patented double-wall kneecup system that offers impact force dispersion and absorption while ensuring maximum coverage in all riding positions. Comfort is also paramount, and the Bionic-10 Carbon has soft lateral knee padding to prevent pressure points. The brace is held in place by lightweight single straps and a buckle system. The Bionic-10 Carbon also performs well at low temperatures. These features are replicated in the Bionic-7 Knee Protector Set, which differs from the Bionic-10’s carbon construction in favor of a fiberglass compound. Unlike the Bionic-10 Carbon, which is sold individually, the Bionic-7 is sold as a set but otherwise offers the same comfort, durability and protection. ■

Other rider-friendly touches include an innovative quick-release locking system for rapid and efficient fitting and removal, compressed foam padding to distribute the impact force over the widest area, a raised chest to reduce hyper-flexion and a highlypersonalized fit that can be worn over or under the jersey. Alpinestars’ fully CE-certified Bionic-10 Carbon Knee Brace is ideal for competitive racers and recreational riders alike.

Economical Upgrades

Longer Life from a Non-Sealed Chain

R

K Chain is known worldwide for its high performance sealed chains, but the company also has a series of non-sealed, economical grade chains available in both standard and heavy duty.

RK’s non-sealed chains have been original equipment for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha for decades. These relationships have helped develop stronger and longer lasting non-sealed chains for use in many applications. RK non-sealed chains are perfect for low-displacement motorcycles that did not come from the factory with sealed chains. If the motorcycle came from the factory with a sealed chain, then RK recommends always replacing it with a sealed chain. RK Chain made several running changes to its non-sealed chain series. One of the most important changes was the addition of the four-side (Quad) rivet staked pins. When pins are quad riveted they are stronger and more stabilized, which results in increased stress resistance from high engine loads. This also makes the transmission of horsepower to the ground more efficient. The second most important change was the addition of solid bushings. In between the bushing and the pin is the factory injected grease, which acts as a lubricant and as a cushion to protect the pin from rubbing against the bushing. When bushings are solid there is no lateral exit for the grease to escape, unlike with curled bushings that have a gap. When the internal grease escapes or is contaminated the chain-wear life can be greatly reduced. RK’s solid bushings are constructed by a process called Cold Forging, which strengthens the metal component of the bushing, thus resulting in a stronger, more rigid chain. As a result of these changes, as well as the application of RK’s new specially formulated coating, RK non-sealed

chains now show a 40 percent increase in chain life. RK non-sealed chains offer riders quality at a fraction of the price, and are available in 415, 420, 428, 520, 525, and 530 pitches and come in both standard and heavy duty. When choosing RK non-sealed chains, always make sure the RK chain chosen has a suitable CC rating for the motorcycle. ■

»» Talk with your Parts Europe rep about RK’s lineup of non-sealed and sealed chains, and visit www.rkexcelamerica.com for more information.

In this chart, two of the same chains are tested on the same machine. One 428H chain features the updates and the other 428H chain does not. The results show that the 428H chain that was updated has a reduced elongation rate that results in the chain performing better and wearing longer compared to the chain that does not feature the updates. Elongation is the process of internal components wearing away with normal use that can be measured as additional chain length.

The Accidental Origin of Thrashin Supply The Essential saddlebags are ideal for riders looking for minimalist storage that’s less bulky than traditional bags, yet holds everything needed for a day on the road.

Coury created his handlebar line to fit a Harley-Davidson and appeal to dirtbike riders looking for a bar equally adept at aggressive street riding as it was for cruising to Sturgis.

Like others in the new generation of young V-twin riders, Lance Coury’s years as an aggressive moto rider – an X-Games gold medalist no less – influences the pavement pounding miles he puts on his Harley-Davidson. Gloves are a big part of the Thrashin lineup and feature understated designs in both textile and leather.

L

ance Coury is an X-Games gold medalist moto competitor, who also happens to be a Harley-Davidson rider since his teens. Not a lot of aftermarket parts companies cater to motorcyclists who have one foot in both worlds, so Coury simply started making his own parts. That turned into making parts for his friends, and that quickly morphed into Thrashin Supply Company. These days, Thrashin focuses on performance-driven parts, bags and gloves for V-twin riders, catering to riders who want the same kind of versatility that Coury was looking for when he started the company in 2014. These are parts inspired – and informed – by Coury’s interest in aggressive riding. Thrashin products are now available through Parts Europe. Coury, an X-Games gold medalist in Moto X Speed & Style, has been riding motorcycles since he was 3 years old. After he started riding Harleys in his teens, Coury’s friends followed suit, and soon there was a group of them riding together. Coury decided to make a part they could all use, eventually settling on a top clamp. Very quickly, Coury found himself in the parts business. The fledgling business needed a name. At the time, Coury and his friends were painting the walls in their garage as well as some of their bikes, and the word “thrashin’” kept showing up in the art. The name stuck. Many of the parts that wound up in the Thrashin catalog were born from wanting a particular product that just didn’t exist yet, like handlebars that fit a Harley, but were designed for a freestyle rider. “When we were first getting our bikes about 10 years ago, it was hard to find handlebars that we wanted to use,” Coury says. “We wanted bars that were a little more aggressive than what was out there, but at the same time

VENDOR PROFILE

Form, Function and Freestyle

still had enough comfort and pull back in the rise and a shape where you could go long distances.” The resulting Thrashin High Bend, Mid Bend and Low Bend handlebars, Coury notes, can accommodate wheelies and burnouts as well as road trips. Wanting something that couldn’t be found was also the inspiration for the Essential saddlebags, which have been a huge hit with Thrashin customers. Coury was looking for bags that were less bulky than traditional saddlebags, with just enough space for basics, like a hoodie, a bottle of water and a few other small items. The bags are especially popular with commuters because the compact 28cm x 20cm x 12.7cm size is ideal for their day-to-day items. The Essential saddlebags are constructed of a durable material that won’t fade in the sun, and they close with water-resistant YKK zippers. Parts Europe will also be stocking several models of Thrashin gloves. Among the popular Thrashin styles are the Stealth gloves. The minimal design has a four-way stretch on the top of the hand, so it moves freely. Touchscreen fingertips mean a rider can stay in touch easily, and the palm is thin enough to provide good feel on the grips. The Siege gloves are a full-leather option. The perforated wrist-length gloves come in brown or black, while the full gauntleted Siege glove is not perforated for colder rides. The Siege line is also touchscreen-friendly. ■

Charger Changes

The Key to Lithium Battery Performance

L

ithium Ferrous Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are increasingly popular as original equpment for performance motocross and enduro motorcycles, and for some streetbikes.

Lithium batteries operate within the same working range of 13V to 14.4V as the industry standard, AGM lead-acid batteries, but that’s where the similarity ends. Outside of that working voltage range, lithium batteries need specific care, mainly in two areas. Recovery from low voltage or complete discharge – The cells within the battery are unbalanced at low voltage, and must receive a special low current recovery charge to rebalance and bring it back to 13V. From here, it can receive a high current charge. Receiving high current when the battery is deeply discharged causes instant damage. These batteries should always be recharged and never jump-started. Maintenance charge – Lithium batteries have three to four times less capacity in Amp-hours than the AGM battery it replaced. These batteries drain faster in the motorcycle due to parasitic draw of always-on circuitry, so maintenance charging is must! Since 2010, TecMate’s research and development into lithium battery charging has led to OEMs such as Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, and Yamaha recommending OptiMate Lithium battery chargers for maximizing performance and extending the life of their lithium starter batteries. Parts Europe carries the following OptiMate Lithium chargers:

»» OptiMate Lithium 4s 0.8 Amp (TM-470) – p/n 3807-0286 »» OptiMate Lithium 4s 5 Amp (TM-290) – p/n 3807-0153 »» OptiMate DC to DC (TM-500v2) which is great for emergency charging at the track – p/n 3807-0339

Forged Clutch Baskets for Strength, Reliability

A

malfunctioning clutch can render a bike or ATV unrideable. Fortunately, Wiseco clutch baskets come to the rescue of riders who need a stronger, more reliable option.

Wiseco’s clutch basket is forged and comes with a lifetime guarantee. Stock clutch baskets are made of die-cast aluminum, which tends to wear out or notch. Wiseco’s solution is a clutch basket made from 6061 aluminum that is heat-treated to a T6 condition. The metal blanks are forged, a process that helps give the aluminum feature-aligned grain flow, increasing the tensile strength along with resistance to impact and fatigue. To give the clutch baskets even more strength, each premachined piece of forged aluminum is as close to the final size as it can be. The less that material is machined off, the more original strength remains in the final product. Once the clutch basket is forged and precision machined, it is hard-coat anodized and coated with Teflon to increase wear and abrasion resistance, improve lubricity and provide a smoother feel in the lever pull.

Wiseco’s forged clutch baskets provide a considerable upgrade over stock.

Wiseco produces every component necessary for a full clutch rebuild, including a forged clutch basket, rubber cushions, fiber and steel plates, springs, a forged inner hub, and a forged pressure plate. Customers can ride easy knowing that their Wiseco clutch baskets, inner hubs and pressure plates have a lifetime warranty. ■

unstar manufactures a wide variety of chains for off-road and street applications. Given that lineup, your customers are sure to find just what they’re looking for.

EXR1

The MXR1 chain is a premium, lightweight, non-sealed chain for off-road bikes up to 500cc. TripleStar treated ultra-hard pins and heat-treated components add durability. The MXR1 comes in 108-link to 120-link lengths with a clip-type connecting link, plus a 520 size for mini-bikes. The MXR clip-type chain in 420 and 428 sizes works well with mini off-road and street motorcycles of 150cc and smaller. Sunstar’s premier, racing-level off-road chain is the XTG, which has TripleGuard sealed rings – three sealing lips and lubrication pools per side of the ring add protection and lubrication. The XTG is ideal for motorcycles and ATVs of 750cc or smaller, and it comes in 100-link and 120-link lengths with a press fit, clip-type link. Sunstar’s heavy-duty 520SSR O-ring chain has heattreated alloy steel for strength and rubber O-rings for reduced friction. The 100-link to 120-link lengths fit offroad motorcycles of up to 400cc. Performance Minded

Powerhouse Clutches for Sportier Riding

A

growing number of HarleyDavidson enthusiasts are looking to get as much sport, performance and handling as they can get from their motorcycles. These are the riders with FXRs, Dynas and Sportsters, all bikes that could use a healthy helping of mechanical upgrades. When a replacement/upgrade clutch is on the list, BDL has parts that will get the job done.

BDL’S Competitor Clutch Kits features drop-in installation and performance that promises strong, smooth operation.

The company’s Competitor Clutch Kit is an easily installed bolt-in package and a big step up from OE. Applications cover Shovelheads, Evos, Twin Cams and Sportsters and Parts Europe has them all. A BDL Competitor Clutch Kit fits right into a stock HarleyDavidson clutch basket, increasing the friction surface by up to 60 percent. Depending on the application, they feature race-proven Kevlar or Aramid-fiber friction discs and precision-machined steel drive discs. There are also heavy-duty coil or diaphragm-style springs, extra-large/ heavy-duty hubs with double-row bearings, and polished aluminum or patented Ball-Bearing Lockup pressure

plates. All of this is custom adjustable to a rider’s need. Coil springs can be mixed-and-matched to custom-tune clutch pack pressure and lever pull. The Ball-Bearing Lockups can likewise be custom adjusted with optional carbide ball bearings and various pressure diaphragm springs. Riders looking for performance won’t accept weak, slipping clutches. BDL’s Competitor Clutch Kits put an end to all of that once and for all. ■

SEATS

The Understated Seat Low-Profile and Low-Key

T

he design philosophy at LePera Motorcycle Seats is that a seat should enhance the lines of the motorcycle, blending with the entire package rather than being the focal point. The low-profile, low-key Streaker seat is the epitome of that philosophy. The Streaker has simple, clean lines that make it a versatile seat option, looking equally at home on a stock or a customized Harley-Davidson. Its lines are sleek enough to flow well with the style of the motorcycle it sits on, with no high back rests or other dramatic features to call attention to itself, creating a perfect stance. The solo seat design of the Streaker has an 29.2cm (11½-inch) seating area, and it comes in one of three signature LePera finishes: Smooth, Diamond or Pleated. The Streaker fits 20042006 XL, 2010-2018 XL and 2008-2018 Bagger models. Like all LePera seats, the Streaker has a lot more going for it than just appearances. Underneath the low-profile seat

The Streaker

is the company’s signature handcrafted, powder-coated 16-gauge steel base plate. The plate is carefully designed to precisely fit each model, while the carpeted bottom prevents any scratching. LePera Motorcycle Seats has been a family-owned company since 1972. Second-generation owners Christine LePera and Bob LePera, Jr. head up the company today, with Bob designing each new seat to the same level of quality and precision that LePera is known for. Every seat is designed and handcrafted in the USA. ■
