COMMUNICATION IS KEY
Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center’s speech therapy program has a comprehensive approach to care. Donor funds supported the purchase of eight iPads for the program, helping to advance the way speech therapy is conducted, particularly for children on the autism spectrum. The introduction of iPads into therapy sessions offers an array of benefits through various apps and programs specifically designed to support speech development. These tools provide an interactive and engaging platform for children to improve their language and vocabulary skills. For pediatric patients who are non-verbal, these iPads allow children to express their wants and needs, significantly enhancing their ability to interact with the world around them.
MEDICATION CARTS STREAMLINE CARE
Through donor support, Palisades Medical Center purchased automated medical carts and cabinets that help with medication management and supply storage. Known as “Omnicell Carts,” these portable units are equipped with advanced features designed to streamline the medication management process. Medications are securely stored in specialized bins within the carts and can only be accessed when the medication is ready for a patient, significantly reducing the risk of errors. With the introduction of these carts, medications for all patients can be distributed efficiently and safely. The streamlined process enhances the overall efficiency of the health care team, ensuring that patients receive timely and attentive care.
ROBOTIC SURGERY IN THE OPERATING ROOM
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, Palisades Medical Center has recently enhanced its surgical services. Philanthropy is enabling the hospital to integrate cuttingedge surgical technology, such as robotic surgery, to expand its services, and ensure the local community has access to the latest and most advanced medical care. Robotic surgery is minimally-invasive, has quicker recovery times and offers more precision and control during the procedure. Palisades’ team of board-certified and fellowship-trained general surgeons brings a wealth of experience in performing a wide range of robotic surgeries, including general, colorectal and urologic procedures.
ELEVATING MATERNITY CARE
Thanks to donor funding, the maternity unit at Palisades Medical Center was recently upgraded to enable team members to care for women in labor more safely and efficiently. For example, the team installed new shelving units that both organize and improve the accessibility of medical supplies, which is especially important in critical care situations. Such improvements not only improve workflow, but they also enhance the overall patient experience for parents, babies and families.
