I would just like to say a big thank you to the Partmaster team for welcoming me aboard. I’ve now been at Partmaster for 6 months and a lot has happened during this time, and there are still plenty of exciting things to come in 2018!

It is hard to believe that Christmas is only days away, so on that note I hope your Christmas holiday be filled with cheer, warm memories, and happiness.

I want to express my thanks to all for your efforts in November. We have seen a huge lift in sales across the group so let’s keep it rolling.

Partmaster Calendar We decided to do something a bit different for Christmas this year, and it’s due off the printing press any day now!

The Partmaster 2018 Calendars will be ready for you to hand out as Christmas presents to your clients at the end of next week. Look out for them.

We are excited to announce we have a new HR / Operations Manager, Kate Waterworth starting on 15 Jan 2018. Kate comes with vast experience and will be an asset to the team. In Kate’s first 100 days she will be around to visit you all.

Christmas is just around the corner and being the 1st Dec we have to get in and do it all again.

Conference overview The Partmaster Conference for sales staff and branch managers was held in October at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park. The 2-day event was a jam packed with lots of content, with highlights including the announcement of the company strategy for 2018, as well as the introduction of the Partmaster re-brand from our CEO John Cook.

I also gave a talk on branding and presented the new Partmaster logo which will be rolled out to all the branches in 2018. The first branch to receive the new look will be Taupo, as they have out-grown their current building and will be moving into a much bigger space in March 2018.

The main purpose for the new look is to reposition the company as being: •100% NZ owned and operated • Smarter technology • Smarter products All the Partmaster branches will be getting a make-over on the exterior and interior.

There will be new uniforms and the

company vehicles will be updated too. I’m looking forward to seeing the new colours in full-force.

We had plenty of guest speakers such as Darwin Sauer from Mixtech Batteries, who gave an informative talk about the technology behind the brand. We also had the very energetic and aspirational sales talk from Jason Dinan and Grant Shields from Sales Star. I know many of you were very interested in learning more about the sales training courses available from Sales Star, so we are currently investigating ideas for future training programmes and will update you on the outcome in the New Year.

The speed dating sessions were a huge hit for the 3rd year in a row (supplier educational talks), with lots of new products and technology being shared from our suppliers. A big thank you to Richard Casey for implementing this initiative. These sessions were very valuable as far as getting to know our suppliers, and gave the team the opportunity to ask plenty of technical questions.

Training was also given during this time from Steve Laus on the Partmaster CRM. If you would like more training on the Partmaster computer programmes please don’t be shy about asking for help.

CRM - talk to Steve Laus NAV - email requests to navsupport@ partmaster.kiwi We also managed to squeeze in a site visit to our 3PL (3rd Party Logistics centre) supplier Supply Change Solutions (SCS) on the last day of conference. It was great to see the size and scope of the operation and to get an understanding of how the operation works.

Overall the conference was a great success for training and getting to know other team members. Thank you to all of those people who completed my survey and I look forward to implementing these ideas at the next conference.

Steve Laus is spending most of his time in the field training reps both new and old. If you haven’t had a visit from Steve yet be sure he isn’t far away. He can help with his extensive product knowledge, his superior company knowledge and his relationship building skills. Steve also has good tricks up his sleeve in the form of rebates and special volume pricing.

Glen Marshall is spearheading a good growth month in battery sales and we have placed 20 Stock and Stand deals.

Hot Laps @ Pukekohe The NZ V8 Ute Racing Series is not only one of the most competitive motorsport series in New Zealand, it is also one of the most stable and about to enter its 10th season in 2017. It is also one of the few motorsport events that has full TV coverage too, with all rounds shown on TV3 CRC Motorsport.

Partmaster are proud sponsors of Paul Manuell Racing for the 2017 season. As part of our sponsorship we get to be involved in track days and hot lap days nationwide. We had our first hot laps session with Paul on the 17th November at Pukekohe. Lots of fun was had by our clients and the Partmaster team.

Next track day will be the 22nd February 2018.

Paul Manuell is now entering his 21st season in domestic racing. Come December 2-3, he’ll be showing our new Partmaster colours on track at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park. So watch TV3 CRC Motorsport for the coverage.

An alternative to WIX in 2018 It’s a long shot as it’s several months away, but there is a new European filter range coming to replace WIX which were priced out of the market for us.

An alternative to WIX in 2018 After analyzing feedback in the market on where Partmaster was situated with WIX filtration, it was agreed a change was needed to achieve growth! Introducing

Quinton Hazell’s range of filtration due January 2018. Some of you may remember this world recognised brand, known for their high quality and extensive application fill for New Zealand’s unique carpark.

Partmaster has now secured this range exclusively for New Zealand with plans to extend our reach into premium offerings currently filled by the likes of WIX and Mann+Hummel with a product we can call

our own, at a competitive price point. From January 2018 we will reduce WIX stock, being replaced by QH direct equivalent.

Each branch will receive a core range which will be built upon during the year with new additions and vehicle applications.

Battery sales 11% up on last November!

On the 1st October 2017 we launched our new range of automotive batteries – Discover Mixtech. After two months of trading with the new products I am proud to say that battery sales are up 11% YTD. Keep up the good work!

Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) site visit, Partmaster Conference Oct 2017

Update from the Product Team It has been a productive few months for the product team, making a lot of changes and improvements to NAV & SCS with excellent results.

We have all noticed a positive vibe coming from the network – keep it up!

Distribution We have implemented a new receipting process at SCS at the end of September, which has seen a big difference in speed and accuracy of inwards goods. This was a large project, and has shown to be extremely worthwhile. We are now seeing multiple containers being receipted within 24hours of arrival, which is a fantastic result!

As inwards is now more streamlined, we underwent a full stocktake in the beginning of October with the help of the Product team and SCS. It was very successful and has been

a big step towards further supply accuracy.

Inventory A big thank you to everyone for making an effort to clean up their negative stocks. There are still a few more items to get sorted throughout the group, please be diligent so we can further increase your branches inventory performance. It would be nice to have zero negative inventory asap.

Hastings Trade Night Winner of LG TV Draw - JMIA Automotive Service Ltd On the 27th November Partmaster Hastings hosted a trade night & christmas drinks which proved to be a popular event. We had a great turn out of clients who came along for a mingle, and Richard’s famous trade night burgers were well received once again.
