Honoring Our Teammates: 2020-21 Acorn Pin Recipients

UNC Rex Healthcare receives significant support through the Grateful Patient and Families Program. The program provides a way for patients and families to express their appreciation for the care they received by making a gift to the Rex Healthcare Foundation.

An exciting feature about the program is that donors can choose to honor caregivers – nurses, doctors, technicians – as well as individuals who do not provide direct patient care, such as members of housekeeping, food services and volunteers. These tribute gifts are especially meaningful in that honored staff members receive special recognition in front of their peers, and a pewter lapel pin, shaped like an acorn, to signify this special honor. The acorn is a symbol that no matter how small the act of kindness, it makes a difference to others.
