Hope & her two grandsons came to the station as part of “Honey & Pa’s Smokey Mountain Adventure Camp.” Fun story - Hope was Adam’s daughter Clara’s preschool teacher!

Father’s Day Favorites Giveaway!

Chad Gillis was our Father’s Day Favorites winner! He was nominated by his three children with the following messages:

Jace: I love going fishing with my daddy. He has taught me how to pitch.

Charlie: My dad will hold my hand, hug me and help me with softball.

Emaline: My dad takes me out on the boat and makes sure I get to have my horse lessons. He pushes me to be better.

In Loving Memory of Dennis Dutton

Our sweet friend and volunteer, Dennis Dutton, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 8th. We posted a tribute to him on our social media, and had several kind responses from other friends and volunteers, including a sweet note from his daughter, Danielle.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful message and for loving my Dad. We played WCQR for him in the hospital and his mood immediately lifted, his toes even did a little dance. - Danielle

Loved volunteering with Dennis! He was such a joy to be around and you never knew what was coming through the door. It may be a chicken, a clown, a cowboy, a super hero, a blowup animal or the rarely seen just Dennis! RIP my friend and thanks for always making us smile. You will be missed. - Amy

Popsicles in the Park, Part 1!

WCQR, partnered with Bristol Parks & Rec, hosted Popsicles in the Park at Steele Creek Park in Bristol. There was a huge turnout, and families got to enjoy the splash pad, inflatables, games, music, and popsicles. Rhonda even got dared to run through the water! We are also very grateful to our business partner, Bojangles, for providing treats and sponsoring the event.

A Resonating Message

Our friend Judy has been listening for a long time. She heard something that we said on air, and it stuck with her. It spoke to her so much, she wanted to gift it back to us as encouragement. She framed this quote and gave one each staff member here:

If you really want to be like Jesus, be the one who stays when everyone else walks away; be the one who forgives when it’s undeserved; be the one who shows grace when everyone else is casting stones; be the one who shows love, even when people betray you; because that’s who Jesus is!

Cookies!

Amanda received a box of Girl Scout cookies from another listener, saying “we’re not a website, but here’s a box of cookies for you!”

(This is now the 2nd time Amanda has been given cookies, so she can no longer say she hasn’t gotten any!)

Joshua has been in Korea for the last month, I talked to him last night and and he told me that he has been listening to WCQR all month in Korea! Popsicles in the Park, Part 2!

Our 2nd Popsicle event was at Rotary Park in Johnson City. We loved getting to meet new friends and reconnect with others. This time, Amanda was dared to run through the splash pad, which she did like a champ. Again, special thanks to Bojangles for providing iced tea, cookies, and for sponsoring this event!
