Thank you, Volunteers!

We are grateful for volunteers like sweet Kealee who help around the station, whether at Fundraisers, events, or just simply data entry.

Rhonda & Adam Celebrated 9 Years on the Morning Show! We posted a photo on social media. Many responded with very kind and encouraging comments.

“I have been listening for at least7 years. It makes my day to hear their conversations and listen to the music.” ~Sharon

“I love 88.3fm WCQR and I have been listening over 10 years !! I am thankful for the laughs and all the great stories and how much it has touched many lives.” ~Diana

“Literally my favorite people in the mornings! Y’all bring so much joy and laughter to my life, and I always love a good Rhonda joke first thing to get my day started.”~Amber

Amazing Email Responses!

Amanda sends out an email occasionally to our WCQR family with event recaps, events coming up, and sometimes shares a bit of her heart. In early August, the email included a copy of our July Experiences. Additionally, Amanda talked about Jackson’s first day of school, and Grace preparing to begin college. Typically, we don’t get many responses to emails, but here are a couple notable replies this month:

Thank you for sharing! My grandson well one of them was homeschooled for a year and now just started his first day in seventh grade at Happy Valley. I do enjoy the stories you all share on WCQR, it brings a smile to me every time! Bless you all for what you do and bring to the airways. ~David

Hi Amanda! Jackson is so cute!! My grandson, JJ started his senior year today for Hampton Bulldogs & it is so unreal to think of him being a senior. Seems like ONLY yesterday he was starting Pre-K! Thank you so much for your prayers for all the kids, I pray for them too. We all need to hold on to Joshua 1:9. We are going to the concert Sat. night with my son who got us tickets when they first started selling, maybe I will see you there! Take care sweet friend & thank you for EVERYTHING! Love in Christ, Diane

Wow, it sounds like you all have had a super busy summer! I had no idea how big the leap from middle school to high school was until I made the switch myself to set up a program at the high school. It’s a whole new world!

I wanted to take a moment to think about Jackson during this big transition in his life. I’m sure you’ve seen similar changes with Grace! He’s definitely in my thoughts and prayers. I hope he really enjoys his freshman year, has amazing teachers, a fantastic schedule, and dives into some fun activities, whether that’s a club, sports, drama, or music! Take care! ~Gina

TWEETSIE TRAIL JAMS 2025 with CAIN & Chris Tomlin!

WCQR joined the City of Elizabethon and over 4,000 people for an amazing night of worship at the 2025 Tweetsie Trail Jams with CAIN and Chris Tomlin!

A few of our WCQR family were even able to meet the artists.

“I was there. Such a beautiful time in the presence of God!”~Beth

“What a wonderful concert!” ~Melissa

“It was an amazing night of worship!” ~Regina “Saturday night was THE BEST worship.” ~Elizabeth

August 2025 Ministry Project

For a few weeks in August, WCQR highlighted the wonderful Ronald McDonald House of Southern Appalachia, encouraging our listeners to collect pop tabs, volunteer, or sign up to provide a meal for the house. We loved being able to give back by creating awareness for RMHSA.

WCQR & RMHSA on Daytime Tri-Cities! Amanda from the Afternoon Show, along with Dan Martin with Ronald McDonald House of Southern Appalachian were guests on WJHL’s DayTime Tri-Cities to share about WCQR’s ministry project with our local RMH here in Johnson City, TN. Thank you to Amy Lynn and WJHL for having us.

Open House

WCQR hosted an open house to invite new volunteers for a tour and more information.

Meals from the Heart

A few members of the WCQR team cooked a meal at the Ronald McDonald House for the residents. It was delicious! Read about it in our blog post on our website.

Big Daddy Weave & Donor Appreciation

WCQR had the pleasure of inviting a small group of donors to the station for a meet & greet opportunity with the members of Big Daddy Weave. After talking with the crew for a bit of Q&A, we took photos and blessed our donors with tickets to see Big Daddy Weave at the Appalachian Fair later that evening.

Sentimental Day Sponsorship

On August 26th, we had the honor of crafting a day sponsor for WCQR listener and donor, Sandy Baker in loving memory of her husband, Donnie. Sandy wanted to celebrate what would have been their 36th wedding anniversary. After a day sponsor message plays on-air, Amanda emails the audio file of the message to the family as a keepsake. Sandy replied...

“Thank you. The message was beautiful. I got so many comments about how sweet it was. Thank you to everyone who was involved in creating such a sweet memory for me and my kids.”

LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE

“This is the only station I play in my car. My grandson’s absolutely love the songs they play. They’re ages 11, 6 and 5. It makes my heart happy knowing that as their grandmother I’m instilling such a precious gift in their lives” ~ Penny
