Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, CDM, is a non-profit workers’ rights organization that provides a wide range of support to Mexico-based migrant workers who experience problems with their employment in the United States. It provides help to defend and protect worker rights as they move between their home communities in Mexico and their workplaces in the United States. In March 2021, two migrant worker women submitted the first petition against the United States for the fight to end gender discrimination against migrant women on temporary labor programs. They are often discriminated against and denied jobs under H-2 visas, segregated into lower-paying roles, and exposed to gender-based violence in their workplace. Factors like language barriers, migration status, and lack of access to legal services, contribute to women’s increased vulnerability and hostility in the workplace.
