Ready for the New School Year

A Message From the Superintendent

Ready for the New School Year

Dr. Barbara Sargent

Back to School sales and earlier sunsets can mean only one thing. September is here and school is about to begin! There is a great deal of excitement building about the 202223 school year.

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Schools are ready for students to return. We are welcoming more than 80 new teachers to our learning community, hired a new Supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts, and have familiar faces in new places as some administrators and teachers shifted to new schools. Facility improvements will be completed at Parsippany High School and Parsippany Hills High School. Kitchen renovations occurred at Central Middle School and Parsippany Hills High School, and new flooring and outdoor walkways grace many of our schools.

New courses include an elective class in Honors Engineering and Design, Ethic Studies (suggested by one of our PHHS students), AP Capstone (Seminar and Research), Women’s Studies, Piano I and II, Guitar I and II, Honors Data Structures and Algorithms, and a new Senior Internship Program that connects students with field experience in business, finance, engineering, health services and more. There’s something for everyone, whether students are interested in exploring STEM classes, delving into Humanities, or expanding their musical ability.

The district also has new Strategic Planning Goals in place for 2022 and beyond. Following a thorough and inclusive Strategic Planning process in May, teachers, administrators, and school board members devised Action Plans in support of each goal. The result, to be presented publicly in September, is an ambitious and exciting design to deepen student learning and support social, emotional, mental and physical health.

Parsippany-Troy Hills Schools consistently provide a strong and multi-faceted education to students – and this year will be the best yet! Here’s to the new 2022-23 school year!
