Message from the Mayor

Mayor James R. Barberio “Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection,” observed Winston Churchill.

This is true not just for those celebrating Christmas, but for all celebrating the various holidays and festivals of their faiths. Holidays are a time for gathering with loved ones, exchanging gifts, and enjoying large feasts while looking around and appreciating all that we are fortunate to have.

During this season it seems we go one step further, as we reflect on the past and revisit memories of those who may no longer be with us. It is during this time that we realize how life evolves.

While faces may change around the dinner table, we are reminded that we are still the same family, as we share the traditions that keep the cherished memories of holidays past alive.

As 2022 begins winding down, I have begun to look back at the past year and the people that have crossed my path. I can recall the anticipation of January 1 st and being sworn in once again as your mayor. The hope that showed on so many faces as a new era of leadership came in. I knew that I wanted to bring back good government and make every resident proud to call Parsippany home. I believe I have begun to do that and I have every intention of continuing that pledge in the years to come. Being elected mayor again is kind of like coming home for me. It is being welcomed back after being away, and realizing how much being with family and friends means. What better time to express my gratitude to all of you than during this season of giving and goodwill.

I hope that you will join me for the traditions that we still hold dear to the Township. Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the menorah have delighted residents for years. I look forward to seeing those that have been part of these traditions in the past, as well as those who are new to it.

I welcome all to the Parsippany family, for that is how I see us, as one family with the best interests of Parsippany at heart. And what better time of year is there for us to celebrate our community as a family, than the season of giving.

With those warm thoughts in mind, I would like to wish all of you and your loved ones, a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season!

James R. Barberio
