The Level 1 Awards and Certificates are ideal if you are new to the welding, metal fabrication, thermal cutting and brazing & soldering and want to gain knowledge and practical experience.
There are seven single unit Award size qualifications available at this Level, plus two Certificate size qualifications. To gain a qualification you must successfully complete a number of practical assignments and an oral / written knowledge test. You will first learn the principals of MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, the correct use of equipment and the importance of PPE (personal protective equipment) Also moving onto the MMA (Manual Metal Arc) welding and learning the difference in techniques between the two.

Further into the course there is an opportunity to develop your skills in Welding, Fabrication and Cutting which also holds its own modules for a Level 1 certificate.

The Awards and Certificates could help you develop your welding and fabrication career and take on jobs that require basic skills. After taking a Level 1 qualification, you could move on to a Level 2 Award or Certificate.
As in all City & Guilds qualifications a Level 1 is a great foundation and platform course could lead into further training to develop your skills and a UKrecognised route to progression on your career path.
