Park Hill Signage Phase 4 Updates
Urban Splash and Places for people are working on plans for the penultimate phase of the Park Hill redevelopment which will include 124 homes. They look forward to updating residents on these plans in the next issue of the newsletter.

Last September, we met with Urban Splash to discuss improved wayfinding signage around the estate. We shared issues and ideas which had been raised in the residents’ Facebook group, including signage to the townhouses and Lord Mews, and the potential for naming each building (in the same way as Béton House). We highlighted that signage inside the building only reflected the specific phases - for example, when exiting the Phase 1 scenic lifts, it does not indicate that you can reach any flats along the streets in the sky beyond number 78. We also suggested it should be clear which flats can be contacted from each intercom and asked for an update on the plan for taxi collection and drop off points that City Taxis were talking to residents about at the 2021 summer party.
We have sought an update from Urban Splash who advise us that they are currently assessing signage requirements around the site. They are putting together a programme of installation that will be shared after Easter.

The desire is for S1 Artspace to remain part of Phase 4, but plans may change owing to changes in the grants and funding landscape. S1, Urban Splash, Places for People and Sheffield City Council are working together to develop the best solution. Options currently include a revised scheme at Park Hill, as well as relocation to other spaces in Sheffield, including Castlegate. At this time, the specific locations have not been finalised.
S1 Artspace has secured part of the Levelling Up Fund grant for the Castlegate area. The Levelling Up Fund grant is awarded to cultural projects in Sheffield that will help to improve the city’s cultural infrastructure and longterm sustainability. This grant is an extremely positive step for the city , and S1 Artspace is one of only two cultural projects to have secured financial investment. The other is Harmony Works, a major new centre for music education in the city.
