Exercise 2:

3D Objects - Mutation and Variation

In Exercise 2 we were tasked to examine a classical column. We were asked to extract a logic, geometries and sectional profiles from the original column. We were then tasked with using these sectional profiles and logics to create new shapes using Rhinoceros’s Loft, Boolean, Intersection ans Sweep commands. In later exercises we were asked to examine methods of construction and fabrication fore these created objects.

In the second part of Exercise 2 we were asked to fabricate one of the objects we had created in the first part of Exercise 2. We were given different methods of fabrication. I chose to utilize the egg-crate method of construction. We had to crate 3d fabrication models and 2d fabrication documents to help us in our process.

Exercise 3:

3D Fabrication

In Exercise 3 we were tasked with using our fabrication documents from exercise 2 to create a set of laser cut files to create a phsycial model of our selected object from exercise 2 as well as 2 additionjal objects using each construction methods, egg-crate, wrap and layer.

Exercise 4:

3D Fields - Synthesis

In Exercise 4 we were tasked with developing and creating a set of 3D fields. We started with modeling a field composed of roof types and variations of roof typologies and logics. This field was broken down into different components, Various transformations were applied to the field to distort and create new fields based on the original fields

3D Fields - Synthesis - Rendering

For the second part of Exercise 4 we were asked to select one of the 3D field from the first p[art of exercise 4 and create two renderings, one abstracted and one in a real-world environment. We were asked to create image textures and texture skins for the objects.
