Parker D. Klebahn Architectural Portfolio Semester 2, 2018
Project 1: The Analysis of a City and Its Architecture For this assignment students were asked to analyze downtown Syracuse, NY. After spending time downtown talking to locals and doing research we were asked to, as a group, create a set of drawings examining specifically the buildings of the city, their massing, heights , zoning and materiality. We were also each tasked with developing a set of drawings surrounding a specific set of details, I chose to focus on the windows of Syracuse

Project 2: The Analysis of Urban Buildings and Their Facades For this assignment students were asked to analyze a given library space, My group and I were tasked with analyzing David Adjaye’s idea Store, Chrisp Street, in London. We were asked to create a set of analytical and technical drawings of the building. Finally, we were also asked to develop an iteration of the facade to help inform the first segment of Project 3.

Project 3: Designing an Urban Building (From Outside In and In and Inside Out) For this assignment students were asked to design a new archival space for downtown Syracuse in Hanover Square, The first phase of the design was an adaption of the iterative facade from Project 2. Following the initial design phase we were tasked to develop a massing for the program and then develop an interior layout centered around a strong relationship between that layout and the facade. I was inspired by my time working in stagecraft and theater to develop a series of “scenes throughout the building, all supported by webs of exposed structure that came together to form a series of presented spaces. I also heavily experimented with glass printing to incorporate images of the old Hanover square and of Old Syracuse to create a space that is rooted in the past but still looks towards the present and the future.
