We’ve long been a place that nurtures every student we serve. But in today’s world, that commitment has never been more important – or more urgent. Too many young people leave school feeling unprepared, uninspired and uncertain of who they are or what they value.
That’s why we took a step back to reflect, listen and ask ourselves: What will truly prepare our students to thrive in life – not just in school?
We heard from hundreds of students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents. And what we discovered was remarkably consistent:
Parish is at its best when we help students become their best – by recognizing their unique potential and developing them as good human beings: intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, spiritually and morally. This holistic approach ensures that we have an impact that’s more far-reaching than academic achievement alone.
We prepare them. We ignite their passions. And we instill lifelong principles to guide them through life.
This approach sets Parish apart. While many schools continue to define success narrowly – through test scores, class rankings and Ivy League admissions – we believe that’s not enough. Those metrics alone don’t capture what truly matters.
Because in a world where so many young people feel unprepared and unsure of themselves... where they’re increasingly disconnected from joy, curiosity and a sense of purpose... and where character can feel like a lost art in an age of moral ambiguity – We must do more.
We must equip them with the skillsets to navigate complexity and learn continuously. We must help them discover what excites and energizes them. And we must ground them in enduring values that shape who they are and how they lead.
That kind of success take all of us, and that’s what led us to our new Purpose at the heart of our Educational Philosophy:

3. WHAT WAS THE PROCESS FOR DISCOVERING OUR EDUCATIONAL
PURPOSE & PHILOSOPHY?
The Educational Purpose & Philosophy emerged through a thoughtful, inclusive and rigorous discovery process:
• Phase I: Leadership Visioning – Interviews with Trustees and Parish’s Administrative.
• Phase II: Faculty & Staff Perspective Gathering – Over 75 participants used the Purpose Discovery Ideation Lab to share their perspective on the strengths, passions and ultimate purpose of Parish.
• Phase III: Student and Family Reality Check – Focus groups, journals, surveys and interviews with current students, alumni and parents sharing their perspective on the impact Parish has made (or should make) in their lives.
• Phase IV: Purpose Workshop with Administrative Team – Final synthesis and alignment around the Purpose & Educational Philosophy of Parish.
4. WHAT DID WE DISCOVER?

Throughout fall 2025, we began bringing the Educational Purpose & Philosophy to life:
• Faculty & Staff reflected on the Educational Purpose & Philosophy and how it shows up in their day-to-day work.
Q• A select group participated in Purpose & Philosophy Activation Workshops –these workshops brought together a cross-section of stakeholders to generate and prioritize ideas for how Parish can fulfill the Educational Purpose & Philosophy in new and innovative ways, specifically in PREPARING students for the future, finding theirPASSIONS, instilling PRINICPLES and helping each student fulfill their UNIQUE POTENTIAL.

• In winter and spring 2026, we began sharing the Educational Purpose & Philosophy externally
– introducing it to families, alumni and the broader community through purposeful communication and touchpoints.
This is just the beginning. Our Educational Purpose & Philosophy is not a project – it’s our path forward. And we’re grateful to be on this journey with you.

11. WHAT’S NEXT?
As we endeavor to bring the educational philosophy “off the page,” each division and department committee will continue to work to align their respective areas and programming (e.g. curriculum, extra-/co-curricular activities, admission requirements and processes, recruitment and retention for faculty and staff, and more) through the lens of our Educational Purpose & Philosophy. We will continue to dig deep into the core of who we are to create opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, that reflect the tenets of our mission - Wisdom, Honor and Service - and that can be directly correlated to our efforts to Develop Good Human Beings: Prepared, Passionate, Principled.
We will continue to share updates through various communication channels and opportunities to engage in the work, including student-facing activities and community education sessions that highlight progress and programs that embody our Educational Purpose & Philosophy.
