Kids Fishing Day April 19
Hundreds of little anglers will get an introduction to one of the area’s best outdoor activities—fishing!—at the annual Kids Fishing Day, slated for Saturday, April 19 at Paradise Lake. This popular annual event is sponsored by Paradise Irrigation District (PID). Kids Fishing Day features free raffles, prizes for catching tagged as well as “big” fish and a snack bar— and that’s all in addition to the opportunity to reel in some of the more than 4,400 pounds of catchable size trout, including trophy-size trout weighing seven pounds and more. The day of family fun begins at 6 am and continues until 3 pm. Kids may fish at Paradise Lake’s Picnic Area as well as the North Shore area. Youths ages 3 to 15 will be permitted to fish; parents and grandparents are encouraged to provide assistance only. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. PID employees, local residents and service clubs contribute their time to plan and staff this popular event. Local businesses also support it through donations of funds to purchase trout to stock the lake as well as fishing/outdoor-related raffle prizes, food for the event’s snack bar and gift certificates for kids. Paradise Lake opens to the public for boat use on April 26. Questions? Call PID at 877-4971.
