Five years after recording their initial tribute to the great horn sections of soul, jazz and pop, Dave Koz and Friends’ Summer Horns II From A To Z reprises the all-star, crowd-pleasing format of that smash hit outing. Poco Sat, Aug 3 @ 7 & 9:30 pM One of the first and longest-lasting country rock groups, poco found platinum success early in their career. it can easily be argued that these pioneers first created the combination of vocal harmonies, country instruments and rock and roll rhythms that became known as country rock. Four decades later rusty young who wrote and sang the massive hits “Crazy love” and “heart Of The night” still leads this incredible band – a band whose roots are found in Buffalo springfield and has included such musicians as The eagles Timothy B. schmidt. With the release of their first album Pickin Up The Pieces, the only debut album to ever receive a perfect rating from Rolling Stone Magazine, poco was off and running.

But at the age of 14, Jake shimabukuro realized that he was doing something a little different with the four-stringed instrument – Ok, a lot different. as he matured, shimabukuro also found inspiration from guitar players, drummers, pianists, and singers. his touring career really came to life with a video on youTube of him playing, “While My guitar gently Weeps.” shimabukuro’s deeply beautiful and original take on george harrison’s love ballad, one which captured colors and moods never associated with the ukulele before, opened the floodgates – now legions of new music lovers had to hear this instrumental marvel. he’s played with world-renowned orchestras and at venues such as the hollywood Bowl, lincoln Center and the sydney Opera house, and has dazzled audiences at music festivals including Bonnaroo, sxsW, the playboy Jazz Festival and Fuji rock Festival. he even performed for that rarest of audiences: her Majesty Queen elizabeth ii. shimabukuro tours roughly half the year and makes frequent appearances on media outlets such as The Today Show, Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, A Prairie Home Companion and NPR’s Morning Edition – shimabukuro’s album output hasn’t slowed. his newest record, The Greatest Day, was released on august 31, 2018. Monte Montgomery thurs, June 6 @ 7 pM you can call it prescient or predetermined, but when Terry lickona, undisputed tastemaker and producer of austin City limits, plucked a then relatively unknown guitar talent to tape a segment of the legendary show, one had the sense that this was just the beginning. since that jaw dropping performance, Monte Montgomery has embarked on an almost fantasy like rock and roll roller coaster ride filled with dizzying accomplishments and mind blowing accolades. he has been named one of the “Top 50 all-Time greatest guitar players” by Guitar Player Magazine, and called “guitar-god” by fans and critics alike. Marshall crenshaw Fri, June 7 @ 7 & 9:30 pM Over the course of a career that’s spanned three decades, 13 albums, graMMy and golden globe nominations, film and Tv appearances (Buddy holly in la Bamba) and thousands of performances, Marshall Crenshaw’s musical output has maintained a consistent fidelity to the qualities of artfulness, craftsmanship and passion, and his efforts have been rewarded with the devotion of a broad and remarkably loyal fan base. his first big break came in 1978 playing John lennon in Beatlemania.

Crenshaw recorded his debut single ‘something’s gonna happen,’ which led to a deal with Warner Bros. his debut album, Marshall Crenshaw, was acclaimed as a masterpiece upon its release in 1982 and established him as a singular songwriter, record maker, and guitarist. The album spawned the hit single ‘someday, someway,’ and other classics such as ‘(you’re My) Favorite Waste of Time’, ‘Whenever you’re On My Mind,’ and ‘Cynical girl.’ along with touring around the country and the occasional recording project, Crenshaw currently hosts his own radio show, The Bottomless Pit. Other current projects include a documentary film-in progress about legendary record producer Tom Wilson.

Thanks to these fans, schneider has won more austin Music awards than any other musician, including Best songwriter, Best Musician, and Best Male vocals, rounding in at 54 total awards to date. in retrospect, it appears inevitable that Bob schneider would become an artist. he performs relentlessly, creates new music compulsively, writes poetry, and regularly shows his visual art in galleries around austin. For legendary singer songwriter, Felix Cavaliere, making people feel good is primary to his illustrious 50-year career that includes the rock & roll hall of Fame, songwriter hall of Fame, vocal group hall of Fame, and graMMy hall of Fame. in 1965, he formed the young rascals with dino danelli, eddie Brigati and gene Cornish. The group quickly caught the attention of fans, as well as atlantic records with their high-energy sets. soon after changing their name to The rascals, they struck number one on the pop charts with their mega hit, “good lovin’.” They followed suit with a string of hits like “i’ve Been lonely Too long,” “groovin’”(which also reached number one), “how Can i Be sure,” “a girl like you,” “a Beautiful Morning,” and “people got to Be Free” (their third number one in just two years). John Sebastian Sat, Sept 22 @ 8 pM For over four decades, the songs of John sebastian have been a part of our american musical fabric. his group, The lovin’ spoonful played a major role in the mid-’60s rock revolution with their first seven singles reaching the Top 10. This was unprecedented, and utterly unthinkable at the height of Beatlemania. By taking roots music and making it sound modern, sebastian, created thoroughly modern music that sounded like it contained the entire history of american music. songs you know by heart, like, “do you Believe in Magic?,” “you didn’t have To Be so nice,” “daydream,” “younger girl,” “did you ever have To Make up your Mind?,” “summer in The City,” and more – did more than simply answer the British invasion, they carried the musical tradition into the future. sebastian’s skills on guitar, harmonica and autoharp have made him a sought-after accompanist since the village folk scene, working with Mississippi John hurt, Judy Collins, Bob dylan and many others. But perhaps his most indelible mark on american culture is when producers of a Tv show called Welcome Back Kotter commissioned a theme song in 1976. sebastian’s “Welcome Back” became a chart-topping solo record.

Being inducted into the rock ‘n roll hall of Fame in 2000 hasn’t slowed him down. Whether the stage is Carnegie hall or a folk festival in some far-flung locale, sebastian is still out there spreading his gospel of american roots music.

Subdudes tues, Sept 24 @ 8 pM Over the course of 25 years and ten albums, the subdudes have quietly become one of america’s national music treasures.

The new Orleans-formed group is a living encapsulation of american music, a vibrant cauldron of sounds that stirs together meaty grooves and jazzy dynamics, soulful r&B swagger, easy vocal harmonies, cheeky rock ‘n’ roll attitude and folky social consciousness — not to mention some of the sharpest musicianship and ensemble playing you’ll ever hear from any five musicians. The group is led by singer/guitarist Tommy Malone and accordionist, John Magnie, but their sound is also notable for the band’s substitution of a tambourine player, steve amedée, for a drummer. Tim Cook rounds out the band on bass. The subdudes draw most of their inspiration from the sounds of their native new Orleans, blending blues, gospel, funk, and r&B with their own harmony vocals.
