PASTOR PatrickHUMES

December 23rd, 1955 was filled with happiness and love on the island of Nassau, N.P., Bahamas as the late Ruby GibsonPinder and John Humes welcomed their newborn son into the world whom they named Patrick Mervin Humes.

Young Patrick was educated in Nassau and upon leaving the Harold Road High School, he embarked upon his journey to seek gainful employment which began in the Hotel Industry before his passion and love for communicating with others led him to the Public Transportation Industry. Being the entrepreneur that he was, it was always Patrick’s desire to operate his own business which was accomplished when he started a Jitney Bus service called, “On The Move”. Later he would venture into the Taxi Cab Business where it was his joy to interact with tourists and tell them wonderful stories about his country which he loved dearly.
In June of 1978, loved filled the air as Patrick met Edna A. Sweeting, the lady who would change his life forever. He knew that a man who found a wife found a good thing and obtained favour from the Lord, so he asked the love of his life, Edna, for her hand in marriage. They were married on February 08, 1980 and together reared five (5) children.
In spite of the many challenges faced by having such a large household, Patrick and Edna worked together to ensure that whatever was needed was provided. Dad as he was affectionately called, was a man of many talents and did whatever it took to take care of his family. You often found him under the hood of a car, bus or truck at any given time. He was a chef in his own right, and was known in his family for his unique cuisines such as a sautéed blend of herbs and spices added with various vegetables, or fruit and vegetable smoothies. He loved time spend with his family, and it was his joy to cook for them. His sister Joan fondly talks about how they would both sing and bake while having a blast.
Patrick had a green thumb and everything which he planted yielded after its kind. The fruits were enjoyed by family and friends and the peas and peppers were deliciously prepared in a family meal that his loving wife would so happily prepare. He always had to keep busy.
On July 16, 2017, Patrick was ordained as a Lay Pastor at Five Porches Of Deliverance Centre and given the portfolio as Pastor of Evangelism. He had a burning desire for everyone to be born again, baptized, filled with the Holy Ghost and even if you told him that you were saved, he would evangelize to you just to be sure. His passion was to see souls come to Christ and help spread the gospel. For a season, he led the Prison Ministry at church and would often visit prisoners at the Fox Hill Prison to share the gospel of The Lord with them. He loved helping people and was happy to drive the church bus as well as his personal vehicle just to ensure that those without transportation would be able to get to church.
He once said if everyone can help just one person then this world will be a better place. As time passed he was diagnosed with cancer, but he kept pushing even harder in the Vineyard of the Lord telling people about the goodness of the Lord. On December 17, 2021, he transitioned from earth to glory to reap his heavenly reward.
Left to cherish his memories are:

Order of Service
When first I started to seek the Lord, I Laid my sorrows at Jesus Feet
I’m glad I counted the cost
I’m glad I counted the cost, I fully measure to Jesus word, And now I’ve Pleasures so pure and sweet
I’m glad I counted the cost
I’m glad I counted the cost
I’ve paid the price and obtained the prize, He saved my soul that was lost And now my treasures are in the sky
I’m glad I counted the cost
I’ve bid farewell to this world of sin, Although the trials seem hard to bear, I’m glad I’ve counted the cost, I’m glad I’ve counted the cost, And no my Jesus abides within, I now my burdens with Jesus Share
I’m glad I’ve counted the cost
I’m glad I’ve counted the cost
Will not be long before the Lord shall come,
I’m glad I’ve counted the cost, And bear my soul to that heavenly home
I’m glad I’ve counted the cost.
“EVERYBODY WILL BE HAPPY OVER THERE”

(Church Hymnal page 95)
There’s a happy land of promise over in the great beyond Where the saved of earth shall soon the glory share
Where the souls of men shall enter and live on forever more, Everybody will be happy over there
Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, will be singing round the throne, In that land where no one ever knows a care, And the Christian of all ages will join in the triumph song Everybody will be happy over there
We will hear nobody praying and no mourning in that land For no burdens there will be for us to bear, all the people Will be singing glory, glory to the Lamb
Everybody will be happy over there
There we’ll meet the One who saved us and who kept us by his grace And who bro’t us to that land so bright and fair
We will praise his name forever as we look upon his face
Everybody will be happy over there
Everybody will be happy, will be happy over there
We will shout and sing God’s praises everybody Will be happy over there
TRIBUTE TO MY
Husband
Your twinkling eyes caught a glimpse of god’s glory, You decided that here ends your life’s journey. I know you’ve gone to be with the Lord And faith in our Lord will just keep me strong
Two hearts we were as one on Earth, Two hearts that were twined, Two heart once beat together, now one beats alone

A Tribute to
THE BEST DAD IN THE WORLD
Patrick M. Humes a man among men, warmly known as Pat. He said to me on many occasions “It is not how your Journey starts but how you end your Journey”. He was talking about the Journey of one’s life, I can truly say he lived a life as Christ taught us to live and on his dying bed his last words to his wife was “Thank you Jesus” in your heart’s. From your loving son and daughter, CHRISTOPHER A. WRIGHT AND MONIQUE P. FORBES We will love you always.
A Tribute
As I reflect over my life and remember some of the conversation we would have had, about who God is and how he ordained things to work in our lives a certain way. I remember you saying we may not understand why but allow God to work out every situation. You would help me and encourage me to stay on this journey for Christ and you told me to never give up and that heaven will surely be worth it all, as you rolled your hands, when my way looked dark. The many times I express my appreciation and gratitude to you when you would have done something that I thought was special and you would say “That’s nothing, with a smile; that is what I am here for” the love you have shown us, I will forever be grateful to you and my heart will go on believing that “Haven will surely be worth it all”

That’s what you are to me my forbidden flower – That bloom from a mustard seed and have create exception memories that will be engrave in these silent walls that have now withered into nothing but dust. We are beyond grateful for you raising, teaching and loving us with your mysterious heart.
