Father, In Thy Gracious Keeping Leave We Now Thy Servant Sleeping
Carmelina Aedina Munroe made her grand entrance into the hearts and home of her parents Brunell and Churton Munroe on June 23rd, 1954, in Duncan Town, Ragged Island. She was showered with love as the first of her parents’ children.
During her early years, she always played a part in helping her younger siblings. She helped them to get dressed for school and church and made sure everyone was dressed appropriately. This had a huge bearing on the type of person she blossomed into.
Carmelina’s education began on Ragged Island where she attended Manny’s School. All preschool aged children on the island had the opportunity to learn their alphabet, numerals, and nursery rhymes. At age five, she was well prepared to transition into the Ragged Island All Age School and continued her education there until 1967 when she came to Nassau and was enrolled at the Robinson Road High School where she completed her high school education. Carmelina had a keen interest in working with figures and was offered employment in bookkeeping and accounting at Milo Butler & Sons.
Carme was brought up in a family where going to church was a must. From an early age, Carme was a member of St. Monica’s Guild, an official organization of the Anglican Church. Its purpose was to groom the young ladies to become members of the Anglican Church Women. It was a “forerunner” to the ACW, so to speak. Weekly meetings were attended that culminated into the annual Christmas Cantatas – a traditional Christmas Eve celebration. Carme began attending Christ The King Anglican Church in 1967 where became a member and in later years, she was encouraged to join Christ The King’s Senior Choir. She happily accepted and was a member of the choir for over twenty years.
Carme loved crocheting and gardening. She would always find time to get outside to take care of her plants and flowers.
Although Carme had only one son, she cherished all of her siblings’ children and even her siblings’ grandchildren as if they were her own. She demonstrated this deep love and commitment to them by supporting the educational pursuits and endeavors of all her nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Carme gave freely of her time, helping each and every one with their school projects and homework. There was no need to worry about where our children would be kept and looked after when school came out and we were still at work. Carme kept them and they were safe. She kept them all in line while they were with her. Homework was completed first, then play time. After play time they all had to clear and put away all toys before leaving to go to their respective homes …. And that was final!
Although Carme was diagnosed with diabetes in her early 50’s she generally enjoyed good health. It was in August of this year when she began to experience feeling of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Various investigative tests were carried out, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary despite these symptoms. Things got progressively worse. She became weak and lethargic. Carme preferred the comfort of her home and remained there until she made her grand exit from earth to glory where she has now attained the crown of eternal health.
On the 21st November 2024 in the early afternoon Carmelina’s earthly life journey came to an end.
The life Carme lived was quiet and peaceful. Sleep on Carme in the loving arms of Jesus. The sound of your voice and the sound of your heart will live on in those you held near and dear to you.
Carme, take your sweet sleep. We will never forget, and always love you.

Celebrant: With faith in Jesus Christ, we receive the body of our sister CARMELINA for burial. Our sister was washed in Holy Baptism and anointed with the Holy Spirit. Let us, therefore, with confidence, pray to God our Heavenly Father, the Giver of life, that He will raise her to perfection in the company of the saints.
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Celebrant: Let us pray.
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our sister CARMELINA We thank you for giving her to us, her family, and friends, to know and love as a companion on our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
Jesus said, I am the Resurrection, and I am the life; he who believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. John 11:25-26
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His compassion never fails: every morning they are renewed. Lamentations 3:22-23
Jesus said, Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. John 14:1
I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be the Lord both of the dead and of the living. Romans 14:8-9
We brought nothing into the world, and we take nothing out. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away: Blessed be the Name of the Lord. Job 1:21
The eternal God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27

INTROIT HYMN ................................................................................................................... “How Bright These Glorious Spirit’s Shine!”
1 How bright these glorious spirits shine! Whence all their white array? How came they to the blissful seats of everlasting day?
2 Lo! these are they from sufferings great who came to realms of light, and in the blood of Christ have washed those robes that shine so bright.
3 Now with triumphal palms they stand before the throne on high, and serve the God they love amidst the glories of the sky.
4 Hunger and thirst are felt no more, nor sun with scorching ray: God is their sun, whose cheering beams diffuse eternal day.
THE COLLECT FOR THE DEPARTED
Celebrant: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you.
Celebrant: Let us pray:
5 The Lamb, who dwells amid the throne, shall o’er them still preside, feed them with nourishment divine, and all their footsteps guide.
6 In pastures green he’ll lead his flock where living streams appear; and God the Lord from every eye shall wipe off every tear
7 To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the God whom we adore, be glory, as it was, is now, and shall be evermore!
Almighty God, we remember before You today Your servant CARMELINA and we pray that, having opened to her the gates of larger life, You will receive her more and more into Your joyful service, that, with all who have served you in the past, she
may share in the eternal victory of Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.
All: Amen.
THE OLD TESTEMENT .................................................... Wisdom 3:1-5, 9 .............................................................. Asha Munroe (niece)
Reader: A Reading from the Book of Wisdom Chapter 3 verses 1 – 5, 9
1 But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them. 2 In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be a disaster, 3 and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace.
4 For though in the sight of others they were punished, their hope is full of immortality. 5 Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself; 9 Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his holy ones, and he watches over his elect.

PSALM23 ........................................................................................................................................................................... Led by the Choir
1 The Lord is my shepherd*; I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures* he leads me beside still waters. 3 He revives my soul* and guides me along right pathways for his name’s sake. 4 Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil;* for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You spread a table before me in the presence of those who trouble me;* you have anointed my head with oil, and my cup is running over. 6 Surely your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,* and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Reader: Rest eternal grant unto her O Lord People: And let light perpetual shine upon her
THE EPISTLE ............................................................... I Corinthians 15: 51-58 .................................................. D’Andra Herbert (niece)
Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in I Corinthians Chapter 15 verses 51 to 58 51 Look, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When this perishable body puts on imperishability and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Reader: The Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God.
GRADUAL HYMN .............................................................................................................................. “Master Speak Thy Servant Heareth”
1 Master, speak! thy servant heareth, waiting for thy gracious word, longing for thy voice that cheereth, Master, let it now be heard. I am list’ning, Lord, for thee; what hast thou to say to me?
2 Speak to me by name, O Master, let me know it is to me; speak, that I may follow faster, with a step more firm and free, where the Shepherd leads the flock, in the shadow of the Rock!
3 Master, speak! tho’ least and lowest, let me not unheard depart; Master, speak! for oh, thou knowest all the yearning of my heart, knowest all its truest need; speak! and make me blest indeed.
4 Master, speak! and make me ready, when thy voice is truly heard, with obedience glad and steady, still to follow ev’ry word. I am listening, Lord, for thee: Master, speak, oh speak to me!
THE HOLY GOSPEL ................................................................................................................................................................. John 14:1-6
All, including members of the bereaved, stand for the reading of The Gospel
Gospeller: The Lord be with you
All: And also with you
Gospeller: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John, the fourteenth chapter beginning at the first verse
All: Glory to Christ our Saviour
‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were
not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And you know the way to the place where I am going.’ 5 Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’ 6 Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
At the end of the Gospel, the following is said:
Gospeller: This is the Gospel of Christ
All: Praise To Christ Our Lord

CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE ................................................................................................................................ “Be still and know”
THE SERMON.................................................................................................................................................. “Archdeacon Dwight Rolle”
Celebrant: Let us with confidence and hope confess the faith into which we were baptized, as we say.
All: I Believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE INTERCESSIONS ................................................................................................................................ Annie-Laurie Munroe (cousin)
Leader: We have gathered to celebrate the entry of CARMELINA into life eternal.
All: To affirm with praise and thanksgiving the goodness of the Lord.
Leader: Let us rejoice in God’s presence with us, in death as in life among those who now see God face to face.
All: Our lips will shout for joy, for God’s love is over all that God has made. Blessed be God’s glorious name forever!
Leader: We feel the pain of separation, we are conscious of our loss, but we have hope in Jesus Christ.
All: We give thanks to God from whom comes all life and death and who surrounds us in both. We have affirmed our faith and rejoice in Christ’s victory over death, which is God’s promise to us.
Leader: Lord, You raised the dead to life:
All: Give our sister CARMELINA, eternal life.
Leader: Our sister CARMELINA was washed in Baptism and anointed with the Holy Spirit: Give her fellowship with all Your saints.
All: Hear us, Lord.
Leader: She was nourished with your Body and Blood: Grant her a place at the table in your heavenly kingdom.
All: Hear us, Lord.
Leader: Comfort us in our sorrows at the death of our sister CARMELINA. Let our faith be our consolation, and eternal life our hope.
All: Amen.
Celebrant: Lord Jesus Christ, we commend to you our sister CARMELINA, who was reborn by water and the Spirit in Holy Baptism. Grant that her death may recall to us your victory over death, and be an occasion for us to renew our trust in your Father’s love. Give us, we pray, the faith to follow where you have led the way; and where you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, to the ages of ages. Amen.
Celebrant: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
A period of silence shall be kept.
Celebrant: Let us, therefore, confess our sins.
All: Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we have sinned against You and one another, in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have left undone. We are sorry and repent of all our sins. For Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that is past and grant that we may serve You in the newness of life to the glory of Your name. Amen.
Celebrant: Almighty God, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver You from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All: Amen
OFFERTORY HYMN ............................................................................................................................................. “Jerusalem The Golden”
1 Jerusalem, the golden, with milk and honey blest, beneath your contemplation sink heart and voice oppressed; I know not, O I know not what joys await me there, what radiancy of glory, what bliss beyond compare!
2 They stand, those halls of Zion, all jubilant with song, and bright with many an angel, and all the martyr throng; the Prince is ever in them, the daylight is serene; the pastures of the blessed are decked in glorious sheen.
3 There is the throne of David; and there, from care released, the shout of them that triumph, the song of them that feast; and they, who with their Leader have conquered in the fight, forever and forever are clad in robes of white.
4 O sweet and blessed country, the home of God’s elect! O sweet and blessed country that eager hearts expect! In mercy, Jesus, bring us to that dear land of rest, who are, with God the Father, and Spirit, ever blest.
ELEMENT BEARER .....................................................................................................................................................................................
THE PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS ................................................................................................................................................................
Celebrant: Through Your goodness Lord, we have this bread and wine to offer, the fruit of the earth and the work of human hands. They will become our spiritual food.
All: All things come from You, O Lord, and of Your own do we give You. Blessed by God forever. Amen.
CENSING HYMN ..................................................................................................................................... “Pleasant Are Thy Courts Above”
1 Pleasant are Thy courts above In the land of light and love; Pleasant are Thy courts below In this land of sin and woe. O my spirit longs and faints For the converse of Thy saints, For the brightness of Thy face, For Thy fullness, God of grace.
2 Happy birds that sing and fly Round Thy altars, O Most High; Happier souls that find a rest In a heavenly Father’s breast! Like the wandering dove that found No repose on earth around, They can to their ark repair And enjoy it ever there.
THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
3 Happy souls, their praises flow Even in this vale of woe; Waters in the desert rise, Manna feeds them from the skies; On they go from strength to strength Till they reach Thy throne at length, At Thy feet adoring fall, Who hast led them safe through all.
4 Lord, be mine this prize to win; Guide me through a world of sin, Keep me by Thy saving grace, Give me at Thy side a place. Sun and shield alike Thou art; Guide and guard my erring heart. Grace and glory flow from Thee; Shower, O shower them, Lord, on me.
Celebrant: The Lord be with you
All: And also with you.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
Celebrant: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father almighty, everlasting God: Through Jesus Christ our Lord; who rose victorious from the dead, and comforts us with the blessed hope of eternal life. For to your faithful people, O Lord, life is changed, not ended; and when our mortal body lies in death, there is prepared for us a dwelling place eternal in the heavens.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of Your Name:
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of Your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Celebrant: Sovereign Lord and Father, to You be glory and praise for ever. In Your boundless wisdom You brought creation into being; In Your great love You fashioned us in Your image; In Your tender compassion You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour, to share our human nature; In the power of the Holy Spirit, He overcame the power of sin and death and brought Your people to new birth as first fruits of Your new creation.
On the night that He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to You, He broke it and gave it to His disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it: This is my Body which is given for You, Do this for the remembrance of me.”
And after supper He took the cup of wine: and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
Celebrant: Therefore, Father, according to the command of Your dearly beloved Son:
All: We remember His death. We proclaim His resurrection. We await His coming in glory.
Celebrant: And we offer You, Father, our sacrifice of thanks and praise. Send Your Holy Spirit on these gifts of bread and wine that they may become the Body and Blood of Your Son, Jesus, our Lord and Redeemer. As we partake of this holy food of new and unending life, may Your Holy Spirit establish us as a royal priesthood with the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. John the Baptist, and all Your sons and daughters who share in Your eternal inheritance; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. With Him and in Him and through Him by the power of the Holy Spirit, we worship You, Father Almighty, with all who stand before You in earth and heaven, in songs of everlasting praise:
All: Blessing and honour and glory and power be Yours forever and ever. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER:
Celebrant: As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray:
All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours now and forever. Amen.
THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD
THE INVITATION
Celebrant: God of promise, You have prepared a Banquet for us.
All: Happy are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb.
THE AGNUS DEI:
All: Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: grant her rest. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: grant her rest. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: grant her rest eternal.
Celebrant: The Gifts of God for the people of God.
All: Our souls will feast and be satisfied, and we will sing glad songs of praise to him.
COMMUNION HYMN “And Now, O Father Mindful Of The Love”
And now, O Father, mindful of the love that bought us, once for all, on Calvary’s tree, and having with us him that pleads above, we here present, we here spread forth to thee that only offering perfect in thine eyes, the one true, pure, immortal sacrifice.
Look, Father, look on his anointed face, and only look on us as found in him; look not on our misusing of thy grace, our prayer so languid, and our faith so dim: for lo, between our sins and their reward we set the Passion of thy Son our Lord.
And then for those, our dearest and our best, by this prevailing presence we appeal: O fold them closer to thy mercy’s breast, O do thine utmost for their souls’ true weal; from tainting mischief keep them white and clear, and crown thy gifts with strength to persevere.
And so we come: O draw us to thy feet, most patient Saviour, who canst love us still; and by this food, so awful and so sweet, deliver us from every touch of ill: in thine own service make us glad and free, and grant us never more to part with thee.
1 Alleluia! Sing to Jesus; His the scepter, His the throne. Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory alone. Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion thunder like a mighty flood: “Jesus out of every nation has redeemed us by His blood.”
2 Alleluia! Not as orphans are we left in sorrow now. Alleluia! He is near us; faith believes, nor questions how. Tho’ the cloud from sight received Him when the forty days were o’er, shall our hearts forget His promise, “I am with you evermore”?
3 Alleluia! Bread of heaven, here on earth our food, our stay. Alleluia! Here the sinful flee to You from day to day. Intercessor, Friend of sinners, earth’s Redeemer, hear our plea where the songs of all the sinless sweep across the crystal sea
4 Alleluia! King eternal, you, the Lord of lords we own; Alleluia! born of Mary, earth your footstool, heaven your throne: you, within the veil have entered, robed in flesh, our great high priest; yours the blood and yours the body, in our eucharistic feast.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; there is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; as Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided: great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
THE POST-COMMUNION PRAYER
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest; sun, moon, and stars in their courses above join with all nature in manifold witness to Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow: blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
All: Almighty God, we thank you that in your great love you have fed us with the spiritual food and drink of the Body and Blood of your son Jesus Christ and have given us a foretaste of your heavenly banquet. Grant that this Sacrament may be to us a comfort in affliction, and a pledge of our inheritance in that kingdom where there is no death, neither sorrow not crying, but the fullness of joy with all your saints, through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.
HYMN ....................................................................................................................................“The Strife is O’erAlleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!”
1 The strife is o’er, the battle done; Now is the Victor’s triumph won; O let the song of praise be sung. Alleluia!
2 Death’s mightiest powers have done their worst, And Jesus hath his foes dispersed; Let shouts of praise and joy outburst. Alleluia!
3 On the third morn he rose again Glorious in majesty to reign; O let us swell the joyful strain. Alleluia!
4 Lord, by the stripes which wounded thee From death’s dread sting thy servants free, That we may live, and sing to thee. Alleluia!
Celebrant: Give rest, O Christ to your servant CARMELINA with your saints.
All: Where sorrow and pain are no more neither sighing, but life everlasting.
Celebrant: You only are immortal, the creator and maker of mankind; and we are mortal, formed of the earth, and to earth shall we return. For so did you ordain when you created me saying. “You are dust and to dust shall you return.” All of us go down to the dust, yet even at the grave, we make our song. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
All: Give rest, O Christ to your servant with your saints. Where sorrow and pain are no more neither sighing, but life everlasting
Celebrant: Lord have mercy
All: Christ have mercy
Celebrant: Lord have mercy
Celebrant: Our Father…
All: Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Celebrant: Let us commend our sister CARMELINA to the mercy of God our Maker and Redeemer. Deliver Your servant CARMELINA O
Sovereign Lord Christ, from all evil, and set her free from every bond, that she may rest with all Your Saints in the eternal habitations; where with the Father and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God for ever and ever.
All: Amen.
Celebrant: Into Your hands, O merciful Saviour we commend Your servant CARMELINA. Acknowledge we humbly ask you, a sheep of Your own fold, a lamb of Your own flock, a sinner of Your own redeeming. Receive her into the arms of Your mercy, into the blessed rest of eternal peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light.
All: Amen.
Celebrant: Rest eternal grant to her O Lord.
All: And let light perpetual shine upon her.
Celebrant: May she rest in peace.
All: Amen.
RECESSIONAL HYMN .................................................................................................................................................
1 For all the saints who from their labors rest, who Thee by faith before the world confessed; Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia, Alleluia!
2 Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might; Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight; Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light. Alleluia, Alleluia!
3 O blest communion, fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine. Alleluia, Alleluia!
4 And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, steals on the ear the distant triumph song, and hearts are brave again, and arms are strong. Alleluia, Alleluia!
5 But then there breaks a still more glorious day: the saints triumphant rise in bright array; the King of glory passes on His way. Alleluia, Alleluia!
“For All the Saints”
6 From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast, through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, in praise of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, Alleluia!
1 Abide with me, fast falls the eventide The darkness deepens Lord, with me abide When other helpers fail and comforts flee Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me
2 Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away Change and decay in all around I see O Thou who changest not, abide with me
ABIDE WITH ME
3 I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me
4 Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me
There will be a happy meeting in Heaven I know, When we see the many loved ones we’ve known here below Gathered on the blessed hilltops with hearts all aglow.
Glad day, a wonderful day Glad day, what glorious day; There with all the holy angels and loved ones to stay, That will be a glad reunion day.
There within the holy city we’ll sing and rejoice, Praising Christ the blessed Saviour with heart and with voice, Telling Him how we came to love Him and make Him our choice That will be a glad reunion day.
When we live a million years in that wonderful place, Basking in the love of Jesus, beholding His face, It will seem but just a moment of praising His grace, That will be a glad reunion day.
Was truly my day one from the day of my birth on June 10th, 1984, to the day she died, she was there for me. We may have had our ups and downs but the one thing I can say from the bottom of my heart is that I always loved my ma. She was a mother to more than just me, because even though I was an only child, I was never truly an only child. The house was always filled with my cousins and that helped to create an excellent bond between all of us. My mother was always a smart woman, I think that’s where I got my affinity for numbers. She spent her whole life raising kids from me and all of her nieces and nephews even to some of her grandnieces and grandnephews. But, at the end of the day, I can truly say that her grandchild, Lj was her heart string. She would dote and care for and cater to him. She truly loved that little boy. I always laughed at both of them when they had disagreements, because they were just alike. Both played tough, but whenever they were separated from each other for any prolonged period, they would both call me asking for each other. It was something that truly made me smile.
I will never stop missing my mother. A piece of me is truly missing, but I know that she is with the Father up in heaven right now, still looking down on me and probably doting on her lee lee.
LERONE (SON)
nurtured me. She guided me and protected me. She taught me everything I needed to know in order to become a wellrounded person.
Everything from personal feminine hygiene to keeping my surroundings clean. For instance, I knew how to do laundry; not in a Whirlpool or Frigidaire washer but in a number 3 tin tub and scrub-board. House cleaning; not with a Hoover vacuum cleaner, but with a broom and dustpan. She was always there for me.
My grammy was a good woman who always put others before herself. Even though she was sick, she would always help me with my homework. She always pushed herself pass her limit. I always hated seeing her suffering. I knew that the day would come but didn’t want it to be now. Throughout her life she raised many people. Despite grammy being 60 at the time I was born, she raised me. Even when she was sick, she would always pick me up from school. I would laugh when she used to row and fuss at the children who would always try to steal my bike. On the day she died I was saddened when I went into her room to say good evening grammy, I am back from school, but she was gone. I was sad for a bit, but at the same time I was happy because she is in a better place with Aunty Ena, Aunty Melie and Big Grammy. Even though she is not here in body, she will always be my grandmother in my heart.
May her soul Rest In Peace with Aunty Ena, Aunty Melie and Big Grammy.
YOUR GRAND-SON, LEELEE
Unfortunately, in August of this year, Carme would often complain to me about severe pains in her abdomen and lower back. Eventually, our roles switched. I became the nurturer and protector guiding her through this tough period.
On that last morning of Carme’s life here, we were discussing what she wanted to eat later that day…. Okra and tofu soup. I prepared the soup, but the soup did not get to her on time. Our God though, is an on-time God!
Rest in eternal splendor Carme, my big sister. See you later.
CARLA (SISTER)
The phone call came, the voice on the line said, “Did you hear anything?” The reply was no. The answer started with, “Gal, I just got a call stating that Carme passed”. The response was “Who Carme? Pass Where?”. “Gal, Carme has died”. “Oh my”, the response was “How sad”. The caller said, “That’s my sister calling me now, Good night, thanks and goodbye.”
Could you believe it? I was at a loss for words. I then began to ponder about Carme’s life. Words and phrases such as easy going, knowledgeable, corner stone of her family, dependable, cheerful, Carme. Oh I must go to my cousins because they need me, but there was no one to drive me.
The birth of Carmelina was like that of a fairy tale princess: the first born of Brunell Munroe nee Wallace, and Churton Munroe, and the first grandchild of Norris and Annie Wallace nee Hepburn. A baby watch was set up. All the Wallace descendants moved Down Along where they stayed at Aunt Hazel and \Uncle Austin houses. The Maycocks and Munroes hung out at Ma Rose house. All within a stone throw of the home of Brunell and Churton. Inside that house were the mother and sisters of Brunell, the mother of Churton, Manell Munroe nee Maycock and Pheobe Jane Moxey nee Wallace, aunt of Brunell.
Aunt Pheobe was the Government’s midwife and nurse. Manell could also deliver babies. After hours of watching and waiting, the cry came as the church bell rang out to welcome the newborn baby girl who was named Carmelina. Wow, it was like Christmas in June for all the families, Carme was a beautiful baby girl with a round face and lots of black hair. She looked just like her father.
Three, eleven plus year old young girls, Sonia, Cilla and Francina, were caught up in the excitement rushed quickly from school and stopped to see the baby but could only peep through the window of the living room. Oh my, the gleeful voices had to be tuned down as they were disturbing both the mother and baby. The girls were crushed. They were walking around as if on eggshell for days whispering about the baby that they could not see for about nine days. Could you imagine the disappointment of the three girls as they went through the same routine but with no success? Eventually after nine to fifteen days they got a small little peep at baby Carme.
The girls next conquest was to hold the baby. This took about another two to three weeks. However, before they could hold the baby they had to be thoroughly sanitized from head to toe,
including a new change of clothing. Yes, we took turns to hold the baby. Incidentally, those girls were flower girls in Brunell’s wedding and felt that it was their right to be able to hold and cuddle Carme.
Carme grew into an extremely brilliant, little girl. Of course, she was pampered, spoiled and well-loved. She attended Mannie School and then on to the Ragged Island All Age School where she excelled in knowledge and wisdom being nurtured in a loving family. Carme secondary education was at Robinson Road Senior High school where she excelled and became Head Girl with Elliot Lockhart as head Boy. Those two Ragged Island Students had that school on lock. Carme was the first born and she played that role very well. She took on the role of caring for her siblings from the age of eleven with help from her aunts and grandparents. Carme was a person with an exceptionally high intelligence and could have very well become the first doctor in the family. Her wise council and sound judgement in simple medical matters and otherwise gave credence to that fact. She had her finger on the pulse of her family and could tell you exactly what was happening with them.
Carme worked for quite some time outside the home in the area of Finance and accounts. She then returned to her true calling that of caring for family. She took care of her son and her siblings children. She was their teacher, caregiver and mentor. Yes, she became the wind beneath their wings. There was no doubt that her love for family life and caregiving was greatly influenced by the loving, and nurturing circle of family that she grew up in. Carme’s sound advice did not stop at her immediate family but extended to her cousins as well. For any information the answer was “Go ask Carme” who would with a chuckle or a cheerful laugh before assisting you gladly. Carme was a problem solver. This we all will miss, dear Carme.
Carme was not satisfied and realized that a big part of what she cherished was not sufficient and that was her Christian Walk. Therefore, she joined the Choir at her Church, Christ the King and became a supportive, dependable member. Alas, God her Maker knew that the human organ could sing no more below so, He has called her to join the Heavenly choir because He, The Lord giveth and He taketh away. Rest in Peace sweet Carmelina.

oh how we will miss you so much. I truly will miss our weekly conversations which was a lot of laughs and fun times. You used to call me at the same time like clockwork. If you could not get my house phone, you called my cell. Apart from you being my cousin, you were also like my best friend. From the many times driving to church and attending choir practice together. You made sure to keep me abreast of all family functions to ensure I did not miss out on anything. Your unconditional love was shared among us all, you were the caregiver of everyone kids including my kids and grandkids. Memories may fade with time, but you remain a part of me forever. You may not be here anymore, but we will still be together for life. Losing you is one of the hardest moments in my life. No one can replace the family ties and friendship we shared. You truly left a large footprint in our hearts.
Love, Cilla (cousin)
