“OTHERS ABOVE SELF”
Andrew Ricardo Winder was born in Nassau, Bahamas, on September 21, 1962 to his proud parents, Raymond Winder and Arnette Rahming.
At a tender age he was sent to live with his Aunt Gwendlyn (whom he affectionately called “Mother”) in Bullocks Harbour in the Berry Islands.
Andrew began his education at the R.N. Gomez All Age School, in Bullocks Harbour. Upon his return to Nassau, he attended Sandilands Primary, L.W. Young Junior High and R.M. Bailey Senior High schools.
After high school, Andrew sought employment at Jean Junction and Bonneville Bones Men’s clothing store. Needless to say, it was his employment at Bonneville Bones that set the trend for his “Impeccable” dressing. It is said: “when Andrew gets dressed, the flies leave the building.”
His career at the airport began at Nassau Flight services. May 1, 1993, Andrew joined the Delta Airlines family, where he remained until he joined US Airways in 2008. When U.S. Airways and American Airlines merged in 2015 Andrew stayed on and he remained with the company until his death.
During Andrew’s time at the airport his path crossed with thousands of persons. There are stories after stories of Andrew’s “others above self” attitude, from holding flights to using his own credit card when a passenger only had cash. Every passenger was made to feel special because Andrew added a personal touch to his service.
Andrew loved people, he loved himself, he loved his family, but most of all he loved his mother. Though friendly, Andrew had a quiet disposition - no fuss, and he stayed to himself. I don’t ever recall Andrew saying NO! You would get a: “let me check”, “I’ll get back to you”, or “tomorrow”; never no.
ANDREW RICARDO WINDER - PAGE 3
“Others Above Self.” Ryan never wondered whether he was going to Atlanta for summer vacation, it was always “When is Uncle Andrew coming for me?” Andrew would take him to Atlanta and return for him at the end of the summer. Debbie had the same good fortune when it was time for her to travel. Andrew would meet her at the door, walk her through the process right to her ride outside. When it was time to return, he was waiting for her, if she was travelling on his airline, she was checked in.
Andrew joined the family of Zion in 2007. “Thank God for life” was Andrew’s favorite line. In November of 2021, Andrew had three strokes, but because he was not one to complain, he endured the whole ordeal alone. Eventually his sister noticed that something wasn’t right about his walk and suggested that he see a doctor. Andrew recovered well, and even returned to work. And we had HOPE! In March, 2022, Andrew started experiencing problems with his sight. After changing doctors and running a battery of tests, Andrew was admitted to Doctors Hospital on March, 17. Ten days later, on March, 27, 2022 at 4:28 p.m. God stepped in, and as only a loving father knows how to, scooped Andrew up and said “Enough is Enough!”
It is well with Andrew’s soul!

Opening Hymn “And Can It Be”
And can it be that I should gain, An int’rest in the Savior’s blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain— For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
’Tis myst’ry all: th’ Immortal dies: Who can explore His strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries To sound the depths of love divine. ’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more.
He left His Father’s throne above— So free, so infinite His grace— Emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam’s helpless race: ’Tis mercy all, immense and free, For, O my God, it found out me!
Long my imprisoned spirit lay, Fast bound in sin and nature’s night; Thine eye diffused a quick’ning ray— I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine; Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness divine, Bold I approach th’ eternal throne, And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Meditative Hymn ................................................................................................................ “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with thee; thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not, as thou hast been thou for ever wilt be.
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness; morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above, join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin, and a peace that endureth, thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide; strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Closing Song “It’s Alright Now”
There was a time I traveled
A lonely sinful road
Beneath a heavy burden bending low
But now all things are different
For Jesus took my load
It’s alright now I’m His I know
It’s alright now
For I am in my Savior’s care
It’s alright now
My Savior hears and answers prayer
He’ll walk beside me
‘Til I climb the heav’nly stair
And ev’rything is alright now
The day you gave us, Lord, is ended, the darkness falls at your request; to you our morning hymns ascended, your praise shall sanctify our rest.
We thank you that your Church, unsleeping while earth rolls onward into light, through all the world her watch is keeping and never rests by day or night.
A-down a lonely pathway
Without a friend to guide
I walked in sin and sorrow all alone
‘Til Jesus came and found me And drew me to His side
It’s alright now for I’m His own
No more in sin I wander
No more in darkness roam
The Lord has placed My feet on higher ground
Each day new heights I’m gaining My soul is nearing home
It’s alright now I’m heaven bound
As over continent and island each dawn leads to another day, the voice of prayer is never silent, nor do the praises die away.
So be it, Lord! Your throne shall never, like earth’s proud empires, pass away; your kingdom stands and grows forever until there dawns your glorious day.
LITURGY OF COMMITAL
“IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL”
When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, “It is well, it is well with my soul.”
It is well with my soul; it is well, it is well with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, let this blest assurance control: that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and has shed his own blood for my soul.

Presiding Minister ............................................................................................. Rev. Walton Winters, Associate Minister
My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! my sin, not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more; praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll; the trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend; even so, it is well with my soul.
“GLAD REUNION”
There will be a happy meeting in heaven I know, When we see the many loved ones We’ve known here below; Gather on the blessed hilltops With hearts all aglow, That will be a glad reunion day.
Glad day, a wonderful day, Glad day, a glorious day, There with all the holy angels And loved ones to stay, That will be a glad reunion day.
There within the holy city We’ll sing and rejoice, Praising Christ the blessed Savior With heart and with voice; Tell Him how we came to love Him And make Him our choice, That will be a glad reunion day.
When we live a million years In that wonderful place, Basking in the love of Jesus, Beholding His face, It will seem but just a moment Of praising His grace, That will be a glad reunion day.
“I’LL FLY AWAY”
Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away; To a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).
I’ll fly away, Oh Glory I’ll fly away; (in the morning) When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).
When the shadows of this life have gone, I’ll fly away; Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away)
Just a few more weary days and then, I’ll fly away; To a land where joy shall never end, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away)

Tribute
TO UNCLE ANDREW
I had this image in my head if you coming home, and beginning your healing journey. All I wanted was for you to get better, so we could get over this hurdle. I don’t think you understood the impact that you had on my life, you grew me up as if I was your own. Some days I would come by Grammy, and not be in the best mood; however to hear you say “hey beautiful” and give the tightest hug would make my day so much better. I am in total shock and disbelief, because right now I need a hug from you. I had many summer trips because of you, so selfless and kind. Many summer days we would be outside playing, and not even know you’d be watching us through the window. One evening we sat down and talked about old times, and laughed until our stomachs hurt. Because of your contributions to my life, I am the woman I am today.
Thank you for the many trips, and gestures they were all greatly appreciated. When you began to feel sick, I had no idea it was that bad. Taking you to run errands, the reality hit me and I said you needed immediate care. Taking you back and forth to the doctor, you keep saying “thank you tee, I don’t mean to burden you”. “I said don’t ever think you’re a burden to me, I was never a burden to you”. I just wanted you to get better, “I’ll be 60 this year ya know”. I say well get better so we can have a big celebration. But you’ll be celebrating in heaven.I am thankful for the 30 years I got to have you! I love you forever.

TO My Uncie
I have so many memories
Of the times we spent together, And even though you’re no longer here, I’ll cherish them forever.
I miss your laughter so much and the mischief in your smile. When I feel the sadness welling up I’ll remember in a while. For though you are no longer here, You’ll never be truly gone. So long as I have these memories, Your spirit will carry on. So until I see your smile again, I’ll hold you in my heart and mind. A shining example, my uncie Of the best of humankind.

UNCLE Andrew
I have no words to fully articulate how I feel. With a broken heart I pen the words of this poem. “Of all the many blessings However great or small To have had you for an uncle Was the greatest of them all The family chain is broken once again And nothing seems the same But God takes us one by one So, the chain will link again.”
Uncle Andrew I love now and forever

MY UNCLE
You were more than just uncle to us, you were there as a father and for that we can say it was an honour to have you in our lives. You were the most amazing person and light to everybody that was graced with your presence. Words cannot express how much you are loved and will be missed. You’ve been taken from us to soon but you will always live on as we treasure the memories of your smile, your hugs and oh boy, it’s your laugh for me , it was so infectious. My uncle you will always be in our hearts. I love you!

Phenomenal is truly what best describes you. A smile that would make you forget about any problems you had that day and an infectious laugh that made everything alright.
Growing you with you was such a joy, even on days I know we made you mad you never changed how you were with us. You were more than an uncle you were a dad to us. From cut hip to trips your presence was always know. You saved my life at the tender age of five a day I would never forget. That day changed my life and brought us together more. Breakfast talks to watching you play with the kids was always a joy, unc this pain hit different. I wish a thousand words could bring you back if only for a moment.
You showed me what it meant to live and own who you are and for that I am forever grateful. I hope the angels know what they have, I’ll bet it so nice up there since you arrived.

WORDS OF CONSOLATION
“When
I Must Leave You For A Little While”
Please don’t grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrows to you through the year. But start out bravely with gallant smile for my sake, and in my name live on and do all things the same. Feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort, and in cheer. I in turn will comfort you and hold you near and never, never be afraid to die for I am waiting for you in the sky.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
When it seemed that our loss was too great to bear we looked and our friends were there. With words, spoken and written with faces smiling and hearts open, you comforted us and shared our grief, our gratitude cannot be adequately expressed with mere words, but they are the best that we have to offer. And so we say “Thank you” for lifting the cloud and letting the sun shine through.
May God bless and keep you in his perfect peace
