22 AUGUST 1941 - 3RD MAY 2024
Adam Munroe, born August 22nd, 1941, to Ms. Gertude Adderley and Mr. Adam Moultrie Munroe (predeceased). He was the 2nd of two children and from an early age, he was destined for greatness.
His early education began at St. Margaret’s Anglican PreSchool on Kemp Road, where he received his primary Anglican indoctrination. He also attended Worrel School on Bay Street and Eastern Prep School on Shirley Street.
Adam’s mother died when he was only 8 years old, and his sister Ethelyn and her husband Alphonso Brown (both deceased) became his parents. They were instrumental in his upbringing and played a major part in him becoming the positive role model that he was. He was a soft spoken, kindhearted, respectful, loving, caring and hardworking individual that loved life and valued others.
At the tender age of 14 years, he left school and under the mentorship of Mr. Victor Claridge, he entered the craftmanship trades of construction, auto mechanics, and general maintenance.
While pursuing the craft, he was introduced to horse racing, which he grew to love. As such, he simultaneously entered the arena of horse racing and became doubly employed at the Hubby Horse Racetrack, as a Jockey.
In1967, he joined National Products and remained with the company up until his demise.
Adam had a spirit that was so afectionate and welcoming, that you had no choice but to love him. The ofce staf, workers at National Products and Cakes By Adam, all continue to boast about how much they love and appreciated him for the knowledge, time and energy he invested in them over the decades.
He was also a sports enthusiast who during his early years, competed in numerous local and national events. He loved the 100-meter dash, an event that he was profcient in during competitions. Additionally, he was one of the founding members of the new Pioneer’s Track & Field Club, where he held the position of treasurer.

His competitive and athletic spirit was imbedded in his DNA; hence, it was transferred to his children. His daughter Cheryl Jones gained notoriety throughout her school years and was a proud participant representing the Bahamas at several Carifta games. His tenacity and drive to push other athletically was the catalyst that provided scholarship awards to countless others. He believed wholeheartedly in the adage that it takes a village to raise a child; hence, he became the father, driver, motivator, counselor, and uber driver for many.
During his free time, Adam loved to be in his garden. He became one with the soil and many have been the recipient of his multiple harvests of fruits and vegetables. He particularly loved to grow cabbages and tomatoes and had he capable of giving Bamsi competition when it comes to quality.
In his mid-years, this visionary man found his passion, which was baking. While still gainfully employed, he started baking from his home kitchen. His initial clientele were his coworkers at National Products and the teachers and staf at his wife’s school.
Initially, it was only a two-man team of him and his wife. They were a formidable team where one baked, decorated and boxed the cakes, while the other washed, greased and dried the pans. The business fourished due to the level of professionalism and expertise place in it; hence, additional staf had to be employed. His star employees were his niece Sylvia Peterson, Jane Smith, Satera Joseph and Maire Bain thus began the nationally acclaimed “Cakes by Adam”.
Adam poured his heart and soul into “Cakes by Adam” it was his baby. He really enjoyed baking and hearing others talk about how well they loved his cakes. He rose early to start work and his favorite saying was, “when you love what you are doing, you’re not working.”
Adam loved the Lord, Family and St. Margaret’s Church, where he was christened and remained a devoted church member up until his demise having served on the Vestry and the ACM.
In 1960, he met and fell in love with Ms. Maxine Louise Johnson from Miami Florida. She was the jewel of his eyes and the missing rib that he longed for. At the tender age of 21, on 18th August 1963, they were joined in holy matrimony. He loved her unconditionally and there was nothing he would not do for her.
The 60 years plus union of Maxine & Adam bored three children, Charles (deceased) Cheryl and Daryl (twins).
On Friday May 3rd, 2024, after being honored by the Bahamas Track & Field Alumni Reunion committee for his contribution over the many years to Track and Field, Adam was called home to be with the Lord.
The impact of Adam’s love and kindness and his legacy will live on! He was loved by so many, and many young men and women looked up to him as a father fgured because of the knowledge and wisdom he bestowed on them to save money and become a homeowner.
