NOTES FROM SUPERINTENDENT HUEBNER HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT PROJECT The bidding process for contractors is now officially open. All contractors are welcome to submit their bids for consideration. The board will review all submissions at the February 12th board meeting. Construction is scheduled to begin when school is out and be completed by the start of August, just in time for the new school year.

SCHOOL CALENDAR We're in the process of finalizing the school calendar for the next academic year. Keep an eye out for the public hearing date, which we plan to set during February's meeting, to take place in March. With the public hearing meeting set for March, we'll be able to approve the calendar during that same meeting.

IOWA SAFETY GRANT Since the incident at Perry, we’ve had a lot of questions on how we will use the money the State of Iowa granted to schools. We are in the process of getting quotes and will formally apply at the end of February. We plan to use the grant money, which is around $150,000, to upgrade our security camera system, update and fix faulty doors, install additional door fob systems at the most used entrances, and window coverings in our elementary classrooms. Our number one priority is to keep everyone safe at school and these upgrades will help us keep our protocols relevant and efficient if these safety procedures ever need to be used.
Improving Efficiency and Consistency Our middle and high school team is hard at work developing an updated schedule for the upcoming academic year. To optimize staff usage throughout the day, we are considering transitioning to an 8-period day. Currently, our high school operates on a 6-period block schedule, while our middle school follows an 8-period day. This inconsistency presents a challenge when it comes to staff sharing between the two schools. Once the schedule is finalized, we will share it with the staff and welcome their feedback.
Early Retirements We want to celebrate two staff members who have decided to retire at the end of this school year. Laurie Behrends (3rd Grade Teacher) - Laura writes, “I am thankful for the 32 years that I have been at Panorama. I spent my entire career at Panorama, my husband and raised our three children here, and I had the amazing opportunity to get to know three generations of families in this district.” We greatly appreciate you Laura and wish you the best in retirement! Carla Church (TAG Teacher) has been a part of Panorama for the past ten years. She has been a huge influence on our TAG program and we can’t thank her enough. We also want to wish Carla the best in her retirement.
School Board Work Session Scheduled A board work session is scheduled for February 5th at 5:30 Regular schedule board meeting will be Monday, February 12th at 6:30 pm.
