En diciembre de 2019 el Directorio de Eramet decidió desacelerar la construcción del proyecto por un trimestre, el primero de 2020 (motivos: baja en los precios de metales, panorama incierto en su recuperación y un incremento en las restricciones en el manejo de las divisas en Argentina) Sin embargo, a fines de 2019 el proyecto Centenario Ratones había invertido alrededor de US$100 millones y en el sitio los denominados Primeros Trabajos del Proyecto, estaban prácticamente terminados: una planta piloto de alta tecnología, un campamento de primer nivel para 800 personas, el comedor, las instalaciones para Primeros Auxilios, la Sala de Recreaciones, y una importante porción de movimiento de suelos, junto a fundaciones como por ejemplo la de los Almacenes. En abril de 2020 el Directorio de Eramet decide realizar una “Parada Negociada” que implica en otros términos, dejar los contratos comprometidos por alrededor de US$320 millones, en condiciones de ser reactivados si así lo decidiera el mismo Directorio. Este esfuerzo de una magnitud considerable está muy avanzado y continuará hasta fines de 2020. Como consecuen- cia de esta actividad, alrededor de otros US$110 millones fueron invertidos: esto significa que, hacia fines de 2020, el proyecto Centenario Ratones tendrá invertidos unos US$210 millones. Eramet está trabajando en la aprobación de la denominada Fase 0 para 2021, lo que implicaría una reactivación parcial del proyecto el año venidero, con actividades que requerirán un estudio de factibilidad para esa fase y una posterior construcción que se estima demandarán unos 18 meses. Esta iniciativa será puesta a consideración del Directorio en diciembre de 2020 y supone montar activos por alrededor de US$175 millones para ponerlos a funcionar y producir en 2023. Esta Fase 0 de ser aprobada por el Directorio de Eramet , constituirá el relanzamiento del proyecto Centenario Ratones.

In December 2019, Eramet’s Board of Directors decided to slow down the construction of the project for a quarter, the first of 2020 (reasons: drop in metal prices, an uncertain outlook for their recovery and an increase in restrictions on currency management in Argentina) However, by the end of 2019 the Centenario Ratones project had invested around US$ 100 million and in the site the so-called First Works of the Project, were practically finished: a high-tech pilot plant, a first-rate camp for 800 people, the dining room, the facilities for First Aid, the Recreation Room, and a significant portion of movement of soils, together with foundations such as that of the warehouses. In April 2020, the Eramet Board of Directors effectively decides carry out a “Negotiated Stop” that implies in other terms, leave the contracts committed for around US$ 320 million, in a condition to be reactivated if the same Directory. This effort of considerable magnitude is well advanced and it will continue until the end of 2020. As a consequence of this activity, about another US$ 110 million was invested: this means that, towards the end of 2020, the Centenario Ratones project it will have invested some US $ 210 million.

Eramet is working on the approval of the so-called Phase 0 for 2021, which would imply a partial reactivation of the project in the year upcoming, with activities that will require a feasibility study for that phase and a subsequent construction that is estimated they will take about 18 months. This initiative will be submitted to the Board for consideration in December 2020 and involves setting up assets for around US$175 million to put them into operation and produce in 2023. This Phase 0, if approved by the Eramet Board of Directors, will constitute the relaunch of the Centenario Ratones project.
