Multi-Monitor Bezel Offset

Multi-Monitor Bezel Offset Calculator | Triple Monitor FOV Tool Why Bezel Gap Matters More in Pixels than in Millimeters

Monitor bezels are always advertised in millimeters, but millimeters don’t tell you what actually matters for a multi-monitor setup: how much of your game or desktop image is interrupted at the seam between panels. The pixel pitches of a 4K and 1440p monitor of the same physical dimensions differ significantly, so depending on the resolution, the same 8mm bezel gap indicates a different number of “missing” pixels. Contrary to what most people believe when comparing monitors based solely on bezel width, a wider bezel on a higherresolution panel can actually result in a smaller visual interruption than a narrow bezel on a lower-resolution one. This calculator determines how wide your array feels and how noticeable the gap between panels will be by converting your bezel gap into pixels, the unit that actually determines how disruptive the seam feels, and pairing it with the combined field of view of your setup.

Reading the Results and Correcting for Bezel Gap A bezel offset under 15 pixels is small enough that most people stop noticing it within the first session. Whether it’s NVIDIA Surround, AMD Eyefinity, or a game’s built-in multi-monitor support, bezel correction software is designed to handle the typical multi-monitor setups of between 15 and 45 pixels. Correction software is still helpful above 45 pixels, but it becomes more difficult to completely ignore the gap when moving quickly horizontally. As a result, thinnerbezel panels or a single curved ultrawide become viable options. Combined field of view is the other half of the picture. Even when the total pixel count is similar, triple 27-inch monitors at a 30-inch viewing distance usually land close to 100 degrees of horizontal FOV, which is a noticeably different experience from a single ultrawide at the same distance. The quickest way to determine which actually gives you the desired field of view when choosing between a monitor array and a single wide panel is to run both configurations through this calculator side by side.
