Sabine Pilots are serving the shipping industry and the public ports of Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange as well as the private oil terminals and the industrial complex of Southeast Texas. The Sabine Neches Waterway is the economic lifeline and the gateway to world commerce. It is the duty of the Sabine Pilots to maintain the safety and the environmental integrity of the waterway. PAISD has just over 8,000 students and 1,300 employees among 16 campuses for the 2024-2025 school year. It offers quality programs for children with various educational needs, such as: accelerated and differentiated instruction, individualized education plans, and personal graduation plans. Other programs include: all-day Head Start and Pre-K, special education, speech, dyslexia, multilingual and migrant, emergent bilingual, foreign language, Gifted and Talented, honors, advanced placement and early college course credits.
PAISD provides vocational training in nearly 20 areas at their Career And Technical Education campus, including the newly-added Real Estate and Pharmacy Tech programs. Woodrow Wilson Early College High School can accommodate 400 students enrolled in high school and Lamar State College-Port Arthur courses simultaneously. Students graduate with a diploma and an Associate’s Degree at no cost.
All campuses encourage kindness, support anti-bullying, advocate for mental wellness, incorporate the use of technology, and provide resources that can develop well-rounded individuals. PAISD provides tools for students to go to college, begin a career or join the military after graduation.
The district encourages students to participate in sports and extracurriculars at all levels. Several elementary schools have basketball and cheer/dance teams for boys and girls. Varsity sports and high school auxiliaries offer mini camps throughout the year for interested elementary and middle school students. Middle and high schools also offer cheer, dance, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, softball, track and field. Secondary campuses compete in UIL contests for academic categories, choir, band, and theater. High school band, twirl, flags, cheer and dance teams also partake in various competitions.
PAISD celebrates diversity with events promoting Hispanic, Native American, Vietnamese, Asian American/Pacific Islander and African American culture. The city enjoys a community-wide celebration of Red Ribbon Week and Titan homecoming each fall.
