Q&A WITH MIKE MCVEY - THE FIRST INTERIORS GROUP
Focussed on building the five fantastic companies that make up The First Interiors Group, we caught up with head of group sales and operations Mike McVey to find out more about him, his role and his vision for the fast growing group.
So Mike, what are the main responsibilities of your role?

I have total responsibility and control over the day-to-day sales and operations of all five companies within The First Interiors Group across the UK, this includes First Install, First Install Specialist Interiors, Apex Joinery, MBS Workplace Environments and Blue Goose Interiors.
Describe a typical day…
I’m generally up early and plan out my day, progressing through ‘to do’ lists and work in progress for all five companies. A typical day will also include client meetings and site visits and meetings with the management and operations teams at all companies at the various Group offices across the UK.
What are your ambitions for the First Interiors Group?
Our Group ambition and intentions are clear; we’re working towards becoming the first choice main Installation and Interior Fit Out company in the UK, that clients of all sizes and across all sectors can come to for individual, bespoke services and turnkey operations from concept to completion. We’re 100 per cent focussed on delivering exceptional client service from concept to installation and completion.
What are the biggest challenges for you in the marketplace currently?
By far our biggest challenges are materials and fuel uplift costs.
What would you consider to be your main points of difference as a business in a competitive marketplace? Our focus on a total offering for clients from concept and vision to design and manufacture and finally installation and completion; our five company businesses which are all experts in their fields and our experience, understand and pride in each individual project.
Which recent project have you been most proud of?
We’re currently working with the team at Tattersalls on a joinery project to replace the stables doors with high quality robust timber and its amazing to see this coming together.

Spending time with family and friends, travelling, eating out and watching my favourite football team Liverpool FC
