Messages from Panaga School Senior Leadership Team Dear Panaga School Community, Today brings us to the end of Term 2 for the 2021/2022 academic year. Student reports for P2-M2 and optional parent and teacher consultations have been provided over the last two weeks, celebrating the learning that has taken place this term.

Special Edition Panaga School

The first two terms of this academic year have presented challenges for us all, through unexpected and continued online learning. We miss having children in our buildings and being physically together. Congratulations and thank you to every member of the Panaga School Community for adapting to our online learning requirements and staying as engaged and connected as possible.

Although our 2021/2022 school year has so far been online for the most part, we continue to enact our vision of 'Together, improving learning’. In doing so, we wish to create a keepsake of celebrations, the Panaga School Yearbook, as we normally and proudly produce for our school community each year.

This year, we ask that parents please contribute images that reflect children's remote learning highlights by submitting 2 photos of your child/ren to enable the creation of our Yearbook.

Please see the next page for information.

Next week, we welcome a 2 week break from school. School leaders will monitor guidelines being released from relevant Ministries, to provide our school community with any relevant updates prior to school’s return on Monday 11th April.

Until then, we wish everybody a safe and happy break from school.

How to be involved...

1. Log in to your child’s school Google Account.

1 Photo 1: A portrait photo where his/her facial

features - especially eyes - are clearly visible, at a medium to close up shot. This photo can be a staged portrait or 'in action'. Please include only him or her and no one else in this photo.

Photo 2: A photo shot at any distance of them engaged in an online/ home (or if they had the rare chance, face to face) task/activity. This photo can be shot at any distance and can include others (with their permission).

Please ensure all photos are of publishable quality and suitable for all children's viewing; reflecting school, company and country standards.

Digital Citizenship in P3 In our Creators and Communicators IPC unit, P3 students have been learning about Digital Citizenship and how to stay safe online. We each created an avatar, and learned how avatars can help keep us safe online by protecting our real identity.

P6 celebrated International Woman’s Day with P7 and Melilas earlier this month by participating in a wide range of activities including the IWD ‘camp cycle around’, finding out about famous women in history, interviewing women in our own families, writing poems and songs and making special crafts. We also found out about famous female role models from our own home and heritage countries. Amazing learning!

P7 celebrated World Maths Day (WMD) in style this term. They were invited to contribute to a WMD Padlet and chose activities that supported their learning interests. Children chalked the pavements of camp to inspire and challenge other children. They learned about famous mathematicians and challenged each other to some pretty tricky maths problems. They also boosted our school’s Mathletics total.

World Maths Day Wednesday 23rd March was World Maths Day. This is a day when schools across the world celebrate maths.

This year, P6 had an extended learning day which allowed them to be creative with their learning as well as contribute to a huge online learning challenge. It included a combination of offline and online maths activities that the whole family could enjoy.

Joel and Ellis joined Daniel and Carl for some activities. Balls were thrown to one another.

With every throw, they counted through the times tables – from 1 x 2 to 12 x 12.

The spinner on Twister was converted to times tables questions and they had to put a hand or foot on the spot with the correct answer.

They designed and made their own Nerf range. Each target had a score on it. The aim was to score the most points with 10 bullets.

They also baked a cake using measuring skills and made a graph from answers to a questionnaire that was sent out.
