Com m u n it y Act ion 70t h An n iver sar y Gar den Act ivit ies M en dar am an d M elilas Pr oject This week, we have been working on a community action project supporting Mendaram with their gardening. As part of the 70th Anniversary celebration, we went to work with the Mendaram community to help develop the gardens around their playground. We hope that in the years to come the Mendaram students enjoy the gardens we made together.

Poetry Week in M elilas This week in M elilas, we celebrated Poetry Week. Students have participated in a range of poetry activities that have engaged them in the many exciting poetic experiences. Some of these included learning about dif f erent poetic styles, perf ormance poetry and expressing poetry through art.

I Open ed A Book

?I opened a book and in I strode.

Now nobody can find me.

I?ve left my chair, my house, my road, My town and my world behind me.

I?m wearing the cloak, I?ve slipped on the ring, I?ve swallowed the magic potion.

I?ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king And dived in a bottomless ocean.

I opened a book and made some friends.

I shared their tears and laughter And followed their road with its bumps and bends To the happily ever after.

I finished my book and out I came.

The cloak can no longer hide me.

My chair and my house are just the same, But I have a book inside me.?

Why do we live this way?

We are not all the same.

You may want to express your religion But does it really need to cause a war?

We cannot carry on like this Knowing the future is in our hands.

We have to put a stop to this.

Young readers and listeners we depend on you Make the world a better place.

When you hear the daily news, think to yourself Why do we need war?

Why are we having to fight over simple things such as Land, food, race, nationality, religion and money?

We could be a colonised world if we tried.

But we don?t.

We just think someone else will do it, it?s not my problem.

It is yours though and we all need to face the truth.

The world is dying around us Just open your window and you will see.

People calling for our help and we need theirs too.

Why can?t we see? Why do we live this way?

I am

I am a wise child and I love science I wonder what else will be invented in 2042 I hear calling of knowledge everywhere I see unthinkable colours up high I want to see the poor rich and the world clean I am a wise child and a science lover

I pretend that I am the smartest in the world I feel the power of the world on my shoulders I touch the earth, trees and sky as representations of knowledge I worry what the world would like in ten years I cry for all the unemployment I am a wise child who loves science

I understand some things can?t happen I say that we all love I dream that one say my dream can come true I try to my parent proud I hope that my friend?s ones will live in love I am a wise child who loves science - Lot am , M 1
