Additional facilities projects in recent years have increased enrollment capacity at all levels, and brought increased efficiency and innovation to our support services and operations district-wide.

In addition to excellent facilities, the District is one of the largest employers in the City of Sherwood, with over 600

teachers and staff members committed to serving the needs of Sherwood students and families. Whether it’s in the classroom, on a school bus, in the lunchroom or behind the scenes, the supportive and hardworking staff of the District contribute each and every day to the success of our students and schools.

Many Sherwood business leaders and community members regularly volunteer in the District and participate in District-sponsored events to help guarantee the success and development of our youth. With the strong support of the community for academics, athletics, and performance arts, Sherwood has not only become a destination city for families, but also a destination district for staff, attracting the best and brightest who share a commitment to student achievement and quality education, and wish to serve in our wonderful community.

Sherwood A Growing Community

During the past year, we have welcomed many new businesses both large and small. Significant development has been underway in the Tonquin Employment Area on the east side of Sherwood in an area long planned for new industrial park development. This includes the development of the TualatinSherwood Corporate Park which was constructed by the Trammell Crow Company. This nearly 480,000 square foot corporate park was built in 2022 and has now been completely leased to companies such as Lam Research, NSI Manufacturing, and DW Fritz Automation. Just recently, Schnitzer Properties started construction on the Sherwood Commerce Center which includes 445,000 square feet of new multi-tenant industrial park space. The first phase will be completed in the Spring of 2024. The second phase will consist of another 500,000 square feet of manufacturing and industrial space. The growth of these business parks creates more opportunities for businesses to grow in Sherwood which – in turn – increases the number of jobs in the community and grows the City’s tax base for the continued provision of high-quality municipal services. Work is underway to complete the Sherwood West Concept Plan which will include a variety of developments including a new technology innovation park. Sherwood continues to see the growth of both small and large businesses, including in Old Town.

ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!

Once you immerse yourself in Sherwood, you find it is one of the most scenic and serene settings in the Portland Metro area.  Journey through the picturesque landscape of rich parks, trails, forest, vineyards, and rolling hills.

On the northern edge of Sherwood’s city limits sits the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Born of the community’s dream and made possible by citizen support, the Refuge is a place where people of all ages can experience and learn about wildlife and the places they call home. The Refuge is open to the public every day of the week, dawn to dusk, with

walking trails and well-mapped hikes naturally woven among the beautiful scenery.

Parks and walking trails wind their way over the 300 acres of open space managed by the City of Sherwood. Stella Olsen Memorial Park’s natural, wooded setting is a haven for wildlife, while open areas and covered shelter allow for a variety of recreational uses of this nearly 24-acre gem. The park provides a natural setting for numerous community events including Music on the Green and theatrical productions.

Snyder Park is considered the centerpiece of the city’s park

system, with a walking path, dog park, baseball fields, an artificial turf soccer field and tennis courts. Updated Woodhaven Park includes a park shelter, restrooms, an expanded play structure, basketball court, and additional parking. Sherwood is home to 10 other parks featuring a mix of styles to enhance both passive and active recreational opportunities.

This last year, the City opened up a new part of the Cedar Creek Trail by Stella Olsen park. The Cedar Creak Trail will run through the heart of Sherwood and eventually connect north and south neighborhoods.

Business Happens

Sherwood

WHERE BUSINESS HAPPENS

Our local businesses are the backbone of the community. Supporting local businesses is critical to their success. Where we shop, where we eat and have fun – all of it makes our community stronger, it is our home.

Our community is a desirable place to be, interest in starting or relocating a business to Sherwood is strong. Our current business climate fosters the feel and livability for which Sherwood is known. The Sherwood Chamber of Commerce supports longtime businesses that have helped shape Sherwood and welcomes

newer businesses to town with grand openings and ribbon cuttings. Schools, arts and culture, familyfriendly events and the small-town feel helped build Sherwood into a destination for many travelers to the Willamette Valley. Old Town Sherwood is a hub for many searching for things to do from Cannery Square to the Center for the Arts, the local restaurants and quaint old town feel. Throughout our city, there are plazas and shopping centers that house businesses, restaurants, wine tasting and annual events.

SHOP LOCAL

When you spend your dollars locally, you support more than the businesses in the city. Residents, visitors and businesses, can make a big difference by choosing to “Be Local and Buy Local” in Sherwood. Sherwood is a unique place to stop for a pastry, share a cup of coffee, and compare the local wines and beer, or simply enjoy one of the city’s great parks.

The Hampton Inn opened during the 2020 pandemic and is eager to play host to travelers of all types. Leisure travelers will enjoy the proximity to Old Town Sherwood, Blakeslee Vineyards, and many other surrounding wineries. Athletes staying overnight for a sporting competition will enjoy the guest pool, fitness facility, and a hearty, complimentary breakfast. The hotel's business center and conference room serves business travelers in need of basic business services. For more information or to book your room call 503-825-9004.

SHERWOOD MAIN STREET

Sherwood Main Street is an organization that partners with Oregon Main Street, a Main Street AmericaTM Coordinating Program, to build the relationships in our community. The goal is to build a high quality, livable and sustainable community that will grow Sherwood’s and Oregon's economy.

Z

We believe that if we put the time in to help our neighbors—through philanthropy, volunteering, or just plain sweat—the rewards are tenfold. Together with numerous charitable organizations, we’re working to make this the kind of place we can call home. And that’s the biggest return of all.

Why do we feel that investing in the community is so important? Because of the sizable returns.
