Crystals are considered the energy of Earth. They promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Like other forms of popular alternative therapies, crystals work by aligning energy levels or interacting with your body’s energy fields or chakras, focusing on healing from the inside. Crystals can create positive shifts in energy. They can make you feel grounded and confident and calm and clear. And a pair of Palos Verdes women, founders of Energy Muse, will guide you. Heather Askinosie and Timmi Jandro know it’s not always easy to go outside and connect with nature but by wearing energy jewelry the high vibrational power of the crystals allows nature to come to you. “Our mission is always to educate people about the energy of the Earth. We believe crystals are a universal tool. They’re grounding; they don’t care about any of those labels of humanity; they’re just energy, something to hold and inspire,” explains Heather who founded Energy Muse 23 years ago with her partner and best friend Timmi. These Palos Verdes business partners were destined for their magical journey. “Timmi and I were neighbors, this was the 70s, and I lived next door to her Grandma Jo who was talking about reincarnation over the fence while my mother would be reading tea leaves inside,” laughs Heather. Heather has dedicated her life to taking the guesswork out of crystals and helping people. Timmi refers to her as a human crystal. ”She gave me a necklace. I didn’t know anything about crystals at that time, but people noticed. It was exciting. I was in a transitional time in my life, and because of my background in the garment industry I knew how to get things made so we
joined forces, and Energy Muse was born,” Timmi says. “Heather and I were both pregnant at the time. We birthed boys that were a month apart and now they’re best friends and starting their own business together, so I think there’s a destiny to all of this,” she says. In 2000, they started selling crystal jewelry designed for intentions like prosperity or abundance and people started feeling the energy from the crystals and clamored for more. They got their products into the hands of celebrities and the so-called ‘flip-flop girls with the energy beads’ became a Hollywood hit. Today, they run an international business selling directly to consumers on their website energymuse.com. They are thrilled to host Facebook and Instagram live sales and say TikTok is coming soon. Meet Young Author

Occasionally, we meet writers who inspire us. This month, we are happy to introduce Palos Verde’s Cornerstone Elementary School fifth grader Nikita Kapoor. Pack of the Lost: The Uninviting Forest is her debut fantasy novel for young readers. The sequel is coming soon; Nikita also recently published a poetry book, Gentle Shadows, Fierce Wings. Pack of the Lost: The Uninviting Forest is a story of survival, strength, and betrayal which she started at age eight during the Covid lockdown. She crafted almost as soon as she could talk and is a member of the MENSA and her school’s Gifted and Talented program. Her interests vary widely; she loves chess, math, robotics, swimming, and basketball. She adores animals, nature, reading, and writing and wants to make the world a better place in which to live. “I love wildlife, especially canines and I read extensively about wolves, how they behave, react, and live as a pack. My increasing love for wolves and my knowledge of these fascinating creatures encourages me to write about them,” she explains. Her novel is about two lost wolves on a perilous journey to rebuild their pack. The tale takes readers through the forbidden woods. And when they discover a magical amulet that connects them with their wolf ancestors, a magical tale unfolds. Nikita, with her family’s help, published her own books as the Founder and President of Paper Lily Press.

Peninsula High School 32nd Annual Athletic Booster Club Party Peninsula High School hosted its 32nd Annual Athletic Booster Club party,A Black & Gold Affaire at Palos Verdes Golf Club on March 18, 2023. PVPH’s AthleticBooster Club supports Peninsula High Athletes. The night began with a VIP reception in The Montemalaga room followed by a silent auction and dinner in the main ballroom. The highlight of the evening was the induction of the 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame honorees,Dave Butler, RHHS Class of 1982 and his brother, Greg Butler, RHHS Class of 1984 followed bythe long standing tradition of the presentation parade of the senior athletes. Greg Butler was drafted 37th in 2nd round of 1988 NBA Draft and played for NY Knicks and LA Clippers.Dave Butler was drafted by the Boston Celtics.

Power of Pink Women’s Wellness Conference Together again for the first time in several years, over 300 women in the South Bay gathered for the Power of Pink Women’s Wellness Conference benefitting Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers Women & Children’s Health Initiatives. Guests were treated to inspirational speakers including actress and New York Times bestselling author Marilu Henner who motivated all with her amazing energy, sage-like wisdom, and memory of a superhero. Speakers Amy D’Ambra, Karen Burns and Glenn Komatsu, MD shared stories of spirit, living your best life, taking charge of one’s own health and helping to care for those around us. Event cochairs Linda Wenglikowski and Nina Tarnay, along with their committee, created a visually stunning and tremendously meaningful day of friendship and support at the Westdrift Hotel in Manhattan Beach March 3rd. Funds raised support Labor & Delivery, NICU, pediatrics, breast care and more for Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers in Torrance and San Pedro, all with best-in-class care, delivered with compassion, throughout a woman’s wellness journey.

Photo Contest Winners Honored Freedom 4 U hosted its annual photography contest which was open to all highschoolers in the South Bay and harbor areas. Three professional judges independently scored all of the photos. The reception was held at Pixels Gallery in downtown San Pedro. Freedom4U is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating life skills, leadership abilities and creativity in teenagers in the South Bay and Harbor Area of Los Angeles. Freedom4U strives to reduce risky behaviors in youth by providing creative, substance-free gatherings and purpose-driven volunteer missions. It was founded in 2002 by Dr.Greg Allen.
