It’s that time of year again.

Time to select a summer camp for your kids to enjoy their vacation days having new experiences, picking up new skills and meeting new friends.

Summer camp may evoke memories of small cabins and campfires near a lake, but today’s kids have the choice of camps available for every interest. And you don’t have to take them to the Adirondacks to find them.

Throughout Palm Beach County there are camps for every kid – the artistic, the science-mind, the indoorsy as well as the sports fanatic.

Choose the one that fits your child’s personality – or choose a few for a summer smorgasboard sure to give them lots to write about on that “What I Did on Summer Vacation” paper.

Asaf’s Sports Academy

One of South Florida’s top summer sports camps will be held totally indoors at the mas-

sive 40,000-square-foot air-conditioned facility near the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach.

The sports academy features three top-of-the-line AstroTurf fields.

Three age groups are offered: 5-6; 7-9; and 10-13.

Parents can sign up their kids for one week, multiple weeks or the whole nine-week summer session.

Activities include sports such as soccer, baseball, dodgeball, handball, football, basketball, hockey, kickball and gaga, as well as arts & crafts, board games, a bounce house and more!

The structure of the camp is designed to give all children a comfortable environment to enjoy sports and improve their individual skills.

Teen Summer Theater Camp

A summer horse camp for ages 5-14, Foxtail Farm offers a breakthrough into the world of horses for pleasure, show or pet purposes.

The trainer has been training, riding and competing for more than 45 years and specializes in helping beginners.

Wellington Summer Camp For a variety of daily activities that include field trips to movies, skating, fishing and more, Wellington Summer Camp offers big entertainment.

It also offers a busy enough schedule to keep the most active kids moving.

Wellington’s summer camp is for kids 5-15, who will be divided by age group for ageappropriate activities. The oldest might go drift-boat fishing, snorkeling or travel to Miami for the Metro Zoo and Seaquarium.

Local field trips for 11- and 12-year-olds include the Rapids Water Park, roller skating and Lion Country Safari.

Younger campers spend most of their time at Village Park, but everyone goes to the Wellington aquatics center for swimming.

At Village Park, kids are busy playing dodge ball, capture the flag, kayaking, indoor kickball, indoor soccer, flag football and much more.  Cost: $160/week for residents; $185/week for nonresidents;  Dates & Hours: June 10 to Aug. 16. Wellington Tennis Camp If your kids love swinging a racket, or you’d like them to learn the fundamentals of tennis, sign up for a summer full of tennis. And for a refreshing end to a day on the courts, they can opt for a combination of tennis and swim at the Wellington Tennis and Aquatics Center.

Camp is open to kids with all skill levels. There are nine weekly sessions, so by the end of summer, the kids will be swinging like pros. The camp is open to kids ages 6 through 13. West Palm Beach Summer Day Camp Young campers from pre-k to 5th grade will have fun-filled days at West Palm Beach’s day camps, put on by the City of West Palm Beach.

Arts and crafts, swimming, field trips and lots of outdoor play are combined to give kids a little bit of everything. And parents

can select the city park location that’s most convenient for them.

The city also offers camps for every school-age child – even teens in 6th, 7th and 8th grades will have a camp especially for them at both Gaines Park and Vedado Park community centers.

In addition, the city offers several one-week specialty camps, including elite soccer camp and sailing camp. New this year and sure to be a hit is tae kwon do camp.
