About Gildings and why we’re unique Nestled in the charming landscape of rural Surrey, the interconnecting barns at Gildings are enchanting traditional structures, creating the perfect setting for the archetypal rustic English wedding.

Just 6 miles south of Dorking in the South East of England, the barns are surrounded by open fields lined with mature woodland, providing a wonderfully romantic backdrop for capturing those special wedding day moments.

Up to 110 guests can share the wedding breakfast in the main ‘Gildings Barn’. The expansive solid oak roof structure above them will be magically lit by the twinkling fairy lights.

Gildings Barns Gildings Barns are offered for hire on an exclusive basis for the entire property.

The venue is comprised of five interconnecting and stunning solid oakframed structures, together with a delightful little ‘Granary’ set in the garden. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed in a brick-paved courtyard, bordered by three of the smaller barns. Stepping into the first of these, the ‘Threshing Barn’ (1), marks the beginning of a journey through agricultural architecture typical of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Progressing into the small ‘Hay Store’ (2), with it’s impressive ‘King post’ roof structure, provides a link into the breath-taking main ‘Gildings Barn’ (3). This ‘double-aisled’ barn, is some 16 meters long and nearly 7 meters high, and has vast oak doors leading out into the garden.

Accommodation and facilities - The main barn holds up to 110 seated for the wedding ceremony and the breakfast, and 130 for the evening party or for a more informal occasion.

- Tables and chairs are included in the hire fee.

- On-site parking is provided, and arrangements can usually be made for leaving cars on site if required.

- Local taxi firms are readily available to transport your guests to and from Gildings.

- The local area is home to nearby hotels and B&Bs.

Marriages and Civil Partnerships Gildings is an approved venue under ‘The Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005’.

You are welcome to hold your legally binding ceremony at Gildings.

We do not make any additional charge for this on your day of hire.

Please contact Surrey County Council’s Ceremony Booking Team at: Registration.ceremonies@surreycc.gov.uk or on 0300 200 1002 to book the date with them as early as possible.

Both the main ‘Gildings Barn’, and the ‘Granary’ in the garden are licensed buildings. The Granary is perfect when the sun is shining and guests can be seated outside. The main barn provides flexibility for accommodating up to 110 people inside if you prefer, or if the unpredictable British weather dictates it. The ‘Side Barn’ is used as the Registrars’ room for your interviews with them just prior to the ceremony taking place.

Location Gildings Farm is in a secluded location off the rural country road of ‘Partridge Lane’, on the outskirts of Newdigate village. It is close to several key towns including Dorking, Horley, Horsham, and Crawley, and only about 40 minutes from both Guildford and areas of south London.
