October in Las Vegas October has a way of reminding me why I love living here. The mornings are finally made for being outside, the evenings give us every excuse to go out, and the calendar is full of things to do throughout the valley. This month, I’m looking forward to the little traditions as much as the big events: a visit to Gilcrease Orchard, seeing the fall display at Bellagio, and finding time to enjoy our neighborhoods when the weather feels especially good. There are concerts and shows worth dressing up for, plenty of reasons to cheer for our home teams, and community events from Summerlin to Henderson. I hope you find something in these pages that makes you call a friend, gather your family or take an afternoon for yourself. And if October has you thinking about where you’d like to make your next memories, I’d love to help you find that place. Enjoy the month

Gilcrease Orchard Pumpkins, fresh air and fall traditions
Pumpkins growing in the field, a wagon ride through the orchard and apple cider in hand: Gilcrease Orchard is one of the valley’s best October traditions. Its Fall Harvest runs September 26 through October 31, with an additional opening on Friday, October 30. Visitors can pick a pumpkin, explore the corn and straw mazes, enjoy a wagon ride and make a morning of it with family or friends. The orchard is at 7800 N. Tenaya Way in northwest Las Vegas.
PLAN YOUR VISIT Gilcrease is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. during Fall Harvest. Admission is $4 plus fees on Tuesdays and Thursdays and $6 plus fees on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets must be purchased online before you arrive; pumpkins and other items are sold separately. COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT OCTOBER 17
Lake Las Vegas
Dragon Boat Festival Teams take to the lake for a day of friendly competition, community and waterfront fnu
MORE THAN A DESTINATION. A D I F F E R E N T PA G E .
There’s something about arriving at Lake Las Vegas that makes an ordinary afternoon feel like time away. The Village invites you to slow down for lunch or dinner by the water, and the lake offers ways to spend the day outside, including kayaking and paddleboarding. On October 17, the Dragon Boat Festival brings a different kind of energy to the waterfront as teams take to the lake. It’s a lovely reason to visit, then stay a while and explore. That’s one of the things I enjoy most about the Las Vegas Valley: every community has its own pace and personality. Lake Las Vegas is well worth discovering, whether you’re planning a day out or considering where you might want to call home.
