STUDENT ESSAY NETS $16,000

The Veterans of Foreign Wars announced that Faith Hannah Lea, a senior home school student in Palm Coast, has been named second place national winner and recipient of the $16,000 Charles Kuralt Memorial Scholarship award in its 2020-2021 Voice of Democracy scholarship program. More than 28,280 students participated nationwide.

Henry Orlowsky, Abe Wasserstrom and Claire Soria met at Temple Beth Shalom to remember their loved ones in comemmoration of Yom Ha-shoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day on Thursday, April 8. The families of Orlowsky and Wasserstrom were able to hide and escape Poland as the Nazis invaded. Soria’s parents gave her to a Belgian neighbor for safe keeping before they were sent to Aushwitz and did not survive.
