You might notice that the Observer is a bit fatter this week. Let me explain. As with many printers around the country, ours at The Villages Daily Sun is experiencing a shortage of the size of paper roll that we normally use. As a result, we have switched to a larger roll and combined the Palm Coast Observer and the Ormond Beach Observer into one, with six pages being market-specific this week. Those pages are 1, 2, 11, 12, 13 and 14. None of the Ormond Beach content has been eliminated; rather, a handful of Palm Coast-focused stories have been added. To clarify which is which, we have printed, in red, the city name above some of the news headlines. Some of the shared content will be natural and, in fact, was long overdue. For example, if a restaurant opens in Ormond Beach, many Palm Coast readers want to know, and vice versa. Many high school sports teams in Ormond Beach play schools in Palm Coast, as well. But some content shouldn’t be shared. City Watch is now on Page 2 in Palm Coast; it’s always been there in Ormond Beach Observer. We also moved the opinion page to 11, and Cops Corner is now on 6. There may be other changes in coming weeks, so we appreciate your patience. In the meantime, let us know what you think we should be writing about. Email Ormond Beach Associate Editor Jarleene Almenas at jarleene@ormondbeachobserver. com, or me, Executive Editor Brian McMillan, at editor@palmcoastobserver.com, and we will help you.
