MASKS Face coverings are optional for school employees, visitors Face coverings are now optional for adults at Volusia County Schools, Superintendent Scott Fritz said on Oct. 7. The change is due to the downward trend of COVID-19 cases in the community. Employees who want to continue wearing a face covering are able to do so. Masks had been mandatory for adults since Aug. 12.
