Speed tables were installed at Fleming Avenue earlier this summer.

More speed tables are coming to some residential streets in Ormond Beach.

In June 2020, city staff initiated a traffic calming program to address citizen concerns about the number of cars speeding through neighborhood streets, a city memo states The program was implemented through the purchase of nine speed tables

in June 2021. Speed tables were installed at Hernandez Avenue and Fleming Avenue, and Public Works Director Shawn Finley said Dix Avenue and Neptune Avenue are next on the list. Radar feedback signs were also installed last week on North Halifax Drive and Division Avenue.

The first nine speed tables cost the city $24,195, and the

purchase of nine more — to be voted on by the Commission on Wednesday, Sept. 22 — would allow for these devices to be installed in other residential streets, such as Highland Avenue.

The total cost of the speed tables, if approved, will total $48,517.20. The city budgeted $66,000 for the program in its 2020-2021 budget.

Redistricting underway The Volusia County Council and Volusia County School Board have begun the 2021 redistricting process, as both government entities have received the new population data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

According to a press release, the five districts represented by members of the County Council and School Board are redrawn every 10 years based on population. Community input is important, and once maps are proposed, residents may share comments at volusia.org/census or vcsedu.org/ school-board.

Making history Ormond Yacht Club to host first Founder’s Day celebration JARLEENE ALMENAS ASSOCIATE EDITOR

uilt in 1910 by several founders of the city of Ormond Beach, the Ormond Yacht Club has formed part of over a century’s worth of local history, and this year, its membership will start a new tradition: Founder’s Day. To be held on Saturday Oct. 2, by invite only, the estimated 65 members of the OYC are inviting former members and living relatives of the founders to participate in a social gathering, to be commemorated by a photo of all attendees, as was done on the 100th anniversary. The current members of the OYC are hoping this will become a regular tradition to help identify the locals who have contributed to the preservation of the building.

OYC member Bill Partington II came up with the idea for Founder’s Day while passing through Hillside Cemetery one day in May. He wondered how many OYC founders — which include John Anderson and Joseph Price — were buried there. Usually, OYC members hold an annual member appreciation event, but Founder’s Day will be a way to memorialize local history, starting with the club’s 111th anniversary.

“It’s nice to be able to share that knowledge about the history, and we want to pass it on to our children and grandchildren,” said Partington, who serves on the five-member board of directors.

Who are the OYC members?

Men and women who are interested in preserving the building, said OYC President Kevin Callahan.

Over the decades, the club has become a nonprofit historic preservation group. The building is owned by the members, and they rely on dues and their annual banquet for funds.

“We are proud of our members,” Callahan said. “We send out a renewal every year and they re-up, and it gives us an operating budget.”

“It’s nice to be able to share that knowledge about the history, and we want to pass it on to our children and grandchildren.”

THE HISTORY OF THE OYC

Some may have wondered in the past the OYC building over the Halifax River. Partington and Callahan both spoke about prior comments surrounding the “mystique” of the building.

Originally not on the tax rolls, the OYC was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The two-story building used to have a boathouse attached via a dock that extended out about 100 yards to it, according to an OYC pamphlet, but it was destroyed during a storm in the 1920s and never replaced.

After all, the boat house never actually housed any large yachts.

It held boats, particularly small sailboats and rowboats, and offered slips to guests of Hotel Ormond.

“The water is so shallow that when we get the dock repaired, they have to come in at high tide to do the work,” Partington said.

So why is it called the Ormond Yacht Club?

Callahan has a theory. He once read a memoir from a woman who grew up in the area around 1905, and a passage she wrote has stuck with him through the years.

Beach Union Church, which was across from OYC. This was after the Halifax River Yacht Club was formed in 1896, and Callahan theorizes this may have played a role in the club’s name.

“Well, maybe coming out of church one morning, after hearing the news, they might have looked out and said, ‘Here’s our Ormond Yacht Club,’” Callahan said.

Over the years, the OYC has hosted social events, Women’s Club meetings, Ormond Beach Historical Society functions and Boy Scout meetings. On the second floor of the building is a large compass painted by Boy Scouts.

‘WE TOOK A CHANCE’

The OYC is still standing today thanks to its dedicated membership who, after the hurricanes of 2004, took risks and repaired and restored the building.

After the hurricanes, the OYC was badly damaged. The floorboards of the first floor were curved upwards, and members worried it would fall in the river.

The members spent $70,000 to repair the building’s pilings.

“We took a chance,” Callahan said. “We borrowed money, not knowing if it was going to work. … It was risky, but we were a little dedicated group and people recognized that.”

by toothbrushes. And the work they did then continues to stand the test of time, though as is the case with historic buildings, there is always more maintenance to do.

“We move very slowly on these projects,” Partington said.

Preserving a historic building takes passion and a great deal of focus, Callahan said. You have to really want to do it, even if it means doing it yourself or contributing financially for the effort. Perhaps in the future, someone will come up with a use that will open OYC to the community in a way that would be beneficial, Callahan added. But for now, the group is focused on making sure the building can be passed on to the next generation of members.

“Even if [people] don’t know what it is, they would miss it if it was gone,” Callahan said. “They would tell their friends and families, ‘That building was there ever since I came here.’”

County increases property tax rate 3.4% over rollback The general fund accounts for a third of the county’s operating budget for 2021-2022.

After two hours of public comment, with many residents asking Volusia County to adopt the rollback rate, the County Council approved a 3.4% property tax rate increase by way of a 5-2 vote at the second and final budget hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 21. Council Chair Jeff Brower and Councilwoman Heather Post voted against.

The budget for the county for the 2021-2022 fiscal year, which starts on Oct. 1, is now set at over $1.1 billion, with $961 million of those dollars accounting for the operating budget. Of that sum, $349.1 million come from the general fund, which is supported by the property tax rate of 5.3812 mills. While it is a reduction of the current tax rate of 5.45 mills — a result of the council cutting $2.8 million from the general fund budget last month — it is 3.43% higher than the rollback rate of 5.2025.

County Councilwoman Billie Wheeler said she couldn’t justify adopting the rollback rate this year, “jeopardizing the future.”

Anything the council cuts or delays this year, it must address in the following year, she said, and as the county continues to

grow, so do needs and services.

Their decision was not impacted by threats of losing next year’s election, she added; Wheeler is not running for re-election.

“I feel badly that this has gotten political, because I think there’s been a real division with that,” Wheeler said. “When we’re up here and we’re elected, we’re elected as nonpartisan officials.

That means we represent everybody.”

Brower maintained that adopting the rollback rate was possible if the county used more of its $61.1 million reserves. It would take an additional $7.3 million he claimed, but Volusia County Finance Department Director Ryan Ossowski said that figure would need to be over $18 million to cover capital projects and recurring expenses.

Brower argued that the county would continue to collect taxes next year, and believed it was wrong to say going to rollback will hurt the county.

Post said this wasn’t the right time for a tax increase, and that when the council directs staff to present ways to save money, they should not be given an “Armageddon” message of cutting funds in public safety, water quality, parks and recreation, or firing employees.

“We heard from so many people tonight, throughout the last year and a half, how badly they are hurting from COVID,” Post said.

NEW COVID LEAVE POLICY FOR COUNTY EMPLOYEES The County Council also unanimously approved an ordinance at its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 21, that would grant up to 16 hours of leave for any county employee who is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and provides proof that a test was taken.

If the employee tests positive, or is required to be absent from work per CDC guidelines, he or she is eligible for up to 40 hours of leave.

After several mentions of “Armageddon,” County Manager George Recktenwald said that it was about fiscal prudence. He reminded the council that the county did adopt the rollback rate in 2018, and that in 2020, they adopted the rollback rate in every fund but the general fund.

The county did raise the property tax rate by almost 5% in 2019.

“We have to be there when there’s a problem,” Recktenwald said. “We have to pay the bills on time. We have to take care of our employees. We have to take care of our citizens, and two-thirds of the budget, two-thirds of the general fund, is dedicated to public safety.”

Councilwoman Barb Girtman said the council initially discussed meeting half-way between the 4.3% tax rate increase that came with the property tax rate of 5.45 mills that was initially proposed and where the council arrived after cutting $2.8 million from the general fund budget. Brower had asked for a 5% reduction, and she

Flagler County commissioners on Sept. 20 unanimously approved a site development plan for a 73-unit single-family-home community in western Plantation Bay. The 40-acre development would have a density of 3.16 units per acre. Lots would be at least 50 feet wide and at least 6,500 square feet each. The community, off Stirling Bridge Drive, will be linked to U.S. 1 through an extension to Bay Drive, now under construction now.

HUNTER’S RIDGE PHASING PLAN ELIMINATED

A new amendment to plans for the Hunter’s Ridge development in unincorporated southern Flagler County eliminates phasing

for the project and slightly alters development requirements.

The Flagler County Commission voted unanimously to approve the Development of Regional Impact amendment, this development’s fifth, at a meeting on Sept. 20.

The elimination of the phased approach is the biggest change, Flagler County Growth Management Director Adam Mengel said, and the alterations aren’t substantial enough to require review by state agencies.

The amendment also deletes a requirement for a public access easement on Durrance/Strickland Lane: The developer had tried to create one and the original DRI had required one, but varying ownerships along the road had made that infeasible, the applicant’s representative said at the meeting.

References to an aerial fire truck in the DRI’s language have also been changed to simply reference a fire truck, without requiring an aerial. The projected buildout date for the development is November 2035.

HIDDEN DRUGS 6:26 p.m. — 800 block of John Anderson Drive Trafficking in fentanyl. As police were searching a 49-year-old Ormond Beach man’s person during an investigation after a hit-and-run crash, an object was found near his groin. When asked what it was, the man claimed it was his genitals, but it was not.

A nylon pouch found inside the man’s underwear contained several capped syringes, 8 grams of methamphetamine, two unidentified pills and 12 grams of fentanyl, according to the arrest report.

Following the hit-and-run crash, the man had been stopped by an off-duty police officer who saw him walking through a neighbor’s backyard “in a way that appeared similar to someone that would break into houses,” the report reads. The man asked for a lawyer and was taken to jail after he was cleared at the hospital.

‘I DON’T UNDERSTAND’ 9:40 p.m. — Intersection of Airport Road and Creek Forest Lane DUI. Police arrested a 52-year-old Ormond Beach man who was driving after dark with his tail lights off and dim lighting coming from the front of the vehicle. Once he was pulled over, the reporting officer noted the man’s speech was slurred and that he had indeed failed to turn on the lights on his vehicle.

After he was instructed to exit the vehicle, the man was unsteady on his feet, according to police. He was informed a DUI investigation would commence, but when police explained the procedures and asked him if he understood, the man said he didn’t. Police asked him what he didn’t understand, and the man replied, “I don’t understand.”

The man claimed he didn’t know his height, weight, color of his eyes, date of birth or current age. He claimed to have back, legs, balance and PTSD

BY INVITE ONLY 7:10 a.m. — 300 block of South Old Kings Road Trespassing. A 53-year-old Port Orange man was arrested after he was found walking on city property from which he had been trespassed twice in August.

The reporting officer was at the property due to a meeting when he spotted the man walking from the back of the property.

The officer recognized the man and asked him his name. The man said that it was none of the officer’s business and that he was there for a meeting that was occuring with city staff.

He was instructed to step away from them, and the man then became agitated and said he was part of the business that was being conducted, police report. His vehicle was loaded up with scrap metal items from the property.

The man was taken to jail.

Dear Editor: After reading the article in the newspaper, and as senior citizens, Commissioner Dwight Selby’s proposed rate hike of 2.3% seems to make sense. As new residents that have been here for only two months, we are getting slammed tax-wise as we get taxed at a higher rate, not being able to claim a homestead exemption for another year.

We went over to a beach park and noticed a ramp has not been repaired from a storm from over a year ago. Notice a surplus of money, but ADA individuals and senior citizens are not a priority. My wife is disabled, and it would make it so much easier for her to use the beach.

Ormond Beach airport: More red ink Dear Editor: The Sept. 16 edition of the Ormond Beach Observer attached an editor’s note to a published letter from Bob Blankenship regarding the planned extension of the Ormond Airport runways to accommodate more corporate jet traffic. Specifically, Mr.

Blankenship’s letter noted in part that the airport is “currently a half million dollars in debt to the city’s general fund.”

The editor’s note summarized the city’s stated position that “general fund dollars lent to the airport fund are repaid as funds become available … loaned dollars cover operating shortfalls and provide grant match dollars.” I cannot fault the Observer’s editorial staff for reciting what our city of Ormond Beach officials relayed to them. However ...

The city’s current budget spreadsheet shows an airport debt to the general fund in the amount of $621,309. The 2021-2022 fiscal year projects an additional shortfall of $63,691, increasing our debt to $685,000. I have reviewed the spreadsheet data; these figures contradict the city’s misleading claim to its citizens that the general fund dollars are being repaid.

FAA guidelines and policies, to my understanding, require airports be self-sustaining with revenues meeting costs and no burdens on city taxpayers. Despite these federal requirements, Ormond Beach residents are having to continue to subsidize our general aviation/municipal airport.

Revenue shortfalls will take an additional $100,000 annual hit in lost rental income now that the city has closed River Bend Golf Course.

And more red ink ... The city has been in arrears, and has been in litigation with Volusia County regarding taxes on its revenue producing golf course/ airport property. If Judge Weston grants the $271,000 summary judgement against the city, awarding that amount to the Volusia County tax collector for the city’s unpaid property taxes ... Well, go figure it out. Our Ormond Beach citizens deserve transparent facts, our citizens deserve transparent figures, our citizens deserve no less than the truth from their elected officials and city government.

VOLUNTEERS PICK UP 900 POUNDS OF TRASH ON THE LOOP Twelve volunteers part of Dream Green Volusia participated in the Ocean Conservancy’s 36th International Coastal Cleanup by cleaning up a half-mile section of the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail on Highbridge Road on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The volunteers picked up 900 pounds of trash and filled 24 trash bags, according to Dream Green Volusia’s tally.

Volunteers found 337 pieces of plastic and foam packaging, 280 cans, 275 glass bottles, 175 plastic bottles and 150 food wrappers.

The Loop clean up site was one of 21 locations that participated in the international effort this year.

The Schoolcrafts’ Halloween display will be open 5:30-10 p.m. daily in October. However, the Halloween Safe-Stop event will only take place from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31 for trick or treating.

There are usually deeper issues that can emerge during a discussion of pros and cons.

As the moderator I was left with these questions: Is the airport runway extension of primary importance for the city’s economic growth?

Is there a quality of life issue vs. an economic issue, and if so, how do we solve it?

Can we have it both ways, and why not think and talk together?

Is it important to know what citizens want and to answer their questions, and how do they make themselves heard?

Quite naturally it is easier to not show up and face the issue head on, especially if you are in the minority, but one young person did not back away and something happened: All of the people applauded this display of citizen participation, although the other view was different from theirs. Now that is what we as a community can be about, listening deeply to one another and creating something from what we have in common.

HONORING GLORIA MAX’S LEGACY An endowment has been established to honor the late Gloria Max’s work and that of her husband, Ray, who engaged volunteers to help carry out their services since 1994 at the Jewish Federation of Flagler and Volusia Counties.

Someone Cares - An Endowment in Honor of Gloria and Ray Max, has been established through Community Foundation, a division of the United Way, by local philanthropists Larry and Andrea Frank.

The goal is to build the endowment to $500,000 within its first year,” said Larry Frank.

“At that level, the principal is projected to generate enough money to help 40 families or more annually forever.”

The Franks have committed to matching the first $250,000 pledged to the endowment.

Accordingly, the Community Foundation is able to accept gifts to build the endowment and help perpetuate the great work of Gloria and Ray Max. Gifts may include cash, stocks, IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions, life insurance, and real estate. t’s not every day students get a chance to showcase their art in a professional gallery.

For 30 Volusia County students, that opportunity came via One Daytona’s Gallery500’s third-annual student exhibition, held in conjunction with Volusia County Schools Visual Arts Program. The exhibition has tripled in size since its inception, and serves as a precursor to one of the most significant art fundraisers in the community: the One Daytona Art Festival. Last year’s inaugural festival drew over 90 artists and donated $15,000 to the VCS Visual Arts Program, as well as $5,000 to ArtHaus, a Port Orange-based art nonprofit.

Gallery500 Director Amber O’Neal said gallery owner Lesa Kennedy’s goal in opening Gallery500 was to provide a space to showcase and promote local art. Kennedy is also the NASCAR executive vice chair.

“She’s always wanted to support the young artists, and so with this exhibition, in conjunction to the art festival

that we cohost every year, we are able to financially help support the Volusia County Schools Visual Arts program,” O’Neal said. “We’re excited to be a part and to see how it’s grown over the years.”

Kennedy — along with Ormond Beach artist Toni Slick and Kristin Heron, curator of education, outreach and exhibition for the Ormond Memorial Art Museum Museum — were among the committee of judges for the show.

Each student is picked to participate by O’Neal and VCS Visual Arts Coordinator Bryce Hammond, who look through all the entries submitted by local art teachers. One of the things O’Neal said she looks for is the meaning behind the pieces, explained in the student’s statements.

Emily (Marco) Larsen, a University High School senior, won “Best in Show” for her sculpture “Stop Saying the Band-Aid Helps” during the opening reception, held Friday, Sept. 17. In her student statement, she wrote that the piece was “a statement about the anger someone can feel when they’re hurt and torn apart, but the people around them choose to ignore them, or placate them, or offer a band-

In a video interview provided to the Observer, Seabreeze art teacher and department chair Christine Colby said that the exhibition is a great way for students to see what competitions can be like at a district level, as well as see the talent beyond their respective high school. Students are often surprised when they get chosen for the exhibition.

“It makes them feel significant, and I see like a little pep in their step when they receive the news,” she said.

Being chosen for the show gives the student validation for their hard work, said Hammond. Many of them are motivated to graduate high school because of their love of art and wish to pursue it as a career. VCS holds 23 other community student art shows but none like the exhibition at Gallery500.

“It’s unique because it’s a professional gallery with international artists that show in it, and it’s a commercial gallery as well, so it gives the kids a taste of what it’s like to show professionally,”

It helps local art programs thrive, O’Neal explained.

“A lot of these students have difficulties expressing themselves verbally because they have more of an artistic mind and they express themselves visually, through their art,” O’Neal said. “So to be able to have an outlet to express themselves, to communicate who they are, to overcome any trials and tribulations and be able to create all these amazing pieces, I think, is so influential to their future and world.”

The student exhibition will be on display through Friday, Oct. 15.

Calling all quilters: New local group formed Fridays In Stitches will meet twice a month at the Flagler Beach Library.

Who says quilting has to be a solo activity?

One Flagler Beach resident has recently formed a quilting and sewing group that will meet every second and fourth Friday at the Flagler Beach Library, located at 315 Seventh St. S. The group’s creator, Anne Kissel, is hoping to draw needlework enthusiasts from Ormond’s beachside, Ormondby-the-Sea and Flagler Beach to join “Fridays In Stitches.”

Kissel decided to form the quilting group after having trouble finding one that is currently meeting, especially on the beachside. When she lived in Connecticut prior to moving to Flagler Beach nine years ago, she used to form part of one that would meet weekly at a library.

Members would quilt, sew, knit or crochet together, and though it wasn’t meant to be a teaching class, learning from one another was inevitable.

“I really used to look forward to it,” Kissel said. “These are things people will do by themselves at home, all alone, and especially in times like this, it’s nice to get out with people and do a shared activity.”

People need companionship, she added, and if quilting and sewing can be turned into a shared activity, participants will enjoy both impacts. If someone comes to one meeting and learns a new skill, or a new tip, that’s a positive experience, she said. People who embroider or do other needlework are also encouraged to join.

Kissel began quilting in the late 1990s, but prior to that, she learned how to sew while enrolled in home economics in school.

She’s continued to practice the craft throughout her life with various projects.

“I just try things,” Kissel said.

“You never know what you can do until you try it, and it’s amazing sometimes that you might attempt something and just be surprised at the outcome.”

he Seabreeze girls golf team is getting really good at trapping their opponents on the green.

Just this past week, the Sandcrabs have won the VolusiaFlagler All-Area Championship on Sept. 13 with a team score of 347 and a third place tie for Amelia Cobb; a nine-hole dual match against Mainland on Sept. 15 with a team score of 180, including medalist honors for Cobb with a 35; and another against Flagler Palm Coast on Sept. 16 with a team score of 174.

Four weeks into the season, the Sandcrabs are undefeated at 5-0 with two rainouts.

“Coach Schmidt has done a really good job developing the girls’ golfing techniques,” Flickinger said. “And the girls have been playing golf together all summer with the VFJGA. They’re just a great group of girls who are friends and really work well with each other.”

Mainland defeated a 2020 state runner-up for its first win of the season. Now it has its sights set on a reigning state champion.

The Bucs were able to release some of its early-season frustrations with a dominating 35-6 district victory Sept. 17 over last season’s Class 6A state runnerup, Lake Minneola, at Daytona Stadium.

But the road doesn’t get easier. This week, the Bucs host the reigning Class 8A state champ -- Sanford Seminole. The Seminoles will be aiming to win their 17th consecutive game on Friday, Sept. 24, at Daytona Stadium.

Isaiah Gordon rushed for three touchdowns against Lake Minneola, as the Bucs improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in District 6-6A. Mainland jumped out to a 14-0 lead with a pair of big plays on special teams. Clarence McCloud returned a blocked punt 40 yards

for a touchdown, and Kalyb Evans flattened a Lake Minneola kickoff returner to force a fumble and returned it 25 yards for another score.

After giving up the winning touchdown in the final minute of the game the previous week, Seabreeze showed off some lategame heroics of its own in a 14-7 overtime win at Deltona on Sept.

Blake Boda scored on an 11-yard touchdown run in overtime and the Sandcrabs kept the Wolves out of the end zone to secure the win. Seabreeze was able to send the game to overtime after blocking a Deltona field goal attempt in the final seconds of regulation.

With the District 7-5A victory, the Sandcrabs improved to 2-2 overall, 1-0 in the district. They are scheduled to play on the road again Friday, Sept. 24, at DeLand.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to figure it out,” she said. “I think I probably need to work on my approach shots and off the tee, because I’m hitting it pretty far left. I don’t think I’m getting a full rotation.

My dad is really good at helping with my swing though.”

The Sandcrabs face off against the Matanzas Pirates on Wednesday, Sept. 22 on their home course, the Riviera Country Club.

On Monday, Sept. 13, the Ormond Beach Family YMCA held a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the remodeling of the Ormond Beach YMCA, located at 500 Sterthaus Drive.

“This is the beginning of our expansion and remodel — our new playground is nearly complete, we are starting on our new wellness center, adult and children’s locker rooms, new kids zone, new childcare center and new group exercise and spin classrooms,” said Chris Seilkop, president/CEO of the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA, in a press release.

New indoor golf center ‘The Rough’ now open

T

he Rough Virtual Golf Center has officially opened its doors at 725 S. Nova Road in Ormond Beach. The center provides a lifelike indoor golfing experience through the use of golf simulator equipment. Players not only have access to over 90 golf courses from around the world, including Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines and PGA National, but they also have the opportunity to enhance their gameplay on the driving range or on the center’s large indoor putting green.

The Rough is owned and operated by Michi Peterson and is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with a variety tee times to choose from.

‘The church can be wherever the people are’ New church affiliated with First United Methodist opens inside Westside Elementary School

artnering with First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach, The Gathering Place will host its first weekly in-person service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, in the cafeteria and auditorium of Westside Elementary School, at 1700 Fifth St., Daytona Beach.

merly a pastor in Alabama for two years before she moved to Florida to pursue her passion in “visioning a new church,” she says.

Last summer, The Gathering Place worshiped at Tomoka State Park for their Kayaks and Communion services. The church continues to host monthly hikes at local parks all over Volusia and Flagler counties.

“We want to be out in the community, and the church can be wherever the people are,” says Armistead.

At Westside Elementary, The Gathering Place offers a new campus for First United Methodist Church, “one church family with two unique identities,” says Armistead.

She hopes to create a welcoming atmosphere, where people can “grow in their faith.” The weekly services will be open for anyone in the community to share their testimonies and to share communion.

The church hopes to have a food truck as well.

Riverside house sells for $3.5 million A

home on Riverside Drive was the top real estate transaction in Ormond Beach and Ormond-by-the-Sea for the week of August 8-14 in the Multiple Listing Service. Lore Bledsoe, of Winter Park, sold 144 Riverside Drive to Jeromie Allan, of Ormond Beach, for $3.5 million. Built in 2003, the house is a 5/5.5 and has two fireplaces, a boat dock, boat house, swimming pool, elevator and 5,551 square feet.
