BRIEFS 13-year-old dies in motorcycle crash A 13-year-old boy from Brooksville died in a motorcycle crash in the 600 block of North Nova Road on Saturday, Oct. 10. Police reported that around 3:29 p.m., a northbound white passenger car began to make a left turn into the Tomoka Oakwood North Condominiums when he was struck by a black motorcycle, whose driver was on the wrong side of the road. The driver, Robert Penny of Brooksville, was going northbound in a southbound lane of North Nova Road. Penny, the victim’s father, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital. His son died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
The final phase of the salt marsh restoration began on Sept. 21.
