COMPLAINT ‘LEGALLY INSUFFICIENT’ A complaint filed against the Ormond Beach Observer related to advertising before the 2018 election has been found “legally insufficient” by the Florida Elections Commission. The complainant, Lori Bennett, of Ormond Beach, claimed that the Observer had illegally given discounts to the Ormond Proud Political Action Committee. The FEC stated that discounts are illegal to candidates only, not PACs. Bennett also accused the newspaper of failing to collect payment from candidates before ads were published. The FEC stated that the newspaper is not obligated to collect payment before publication. Previous coverage: shorturl.at/jKNX6.
PROTESTERS MOBILIZE ON GRANADA BRIDGE Sign wavers urged the public to vote against the proposed county sales tax and four-year terms for Ormond Beach City Commission on the west end of the Granada Bridge on April 17. The group leader, Amy Demeo, said local governments should stop providing large companies with millions of dollars in incentives instead of increasing the sales tax. For City Commission terms, she said two years are long enough. The organizer, Ormond Beach Action Group, plans to have a sign-waving event for the next three weeks. — Wayne Grant
The public got a chance to have their say on plans for the downtown at a meeting April 17 at the Anderson-Price Memorial Building. The city is currently updating the Downtown Master Plan, covering Granada Boulevard from the ocean to Orchard Street and a few blocks north and south. The first speaker from the audience of about 30 people asked if the Master Plan was concerned with impact on people who already live in the community and have to deal with traffic. “We absolutely are,” said Peter Sechler, of GAI Consultants. “We’re working on walkability and pedestrian crossings, especially on
Granada. We’d like to slow down traffic so people can see what’s there.” Another speaker, identified as Erline, said there are plenty of activities for seniors, but not enough for young people. She also said when people walk, they fear crossing Granada Boulevard and U.S. 1 so there should be safe pedestrian crossings. The environment and parking were other concerns. Sechler said the committee wants to hear what citizens value about the downtown and what should be improved. To add an opinion to the survey, go to shorturl.at/dnpEM. There will be another public meeting at 6 p.m. May 15, at the AndersonPrice building.

$2.9 million water project aims to reduce discharge into Halifax The project will demolish the existing storage tanks, pump stations and water tower. JARLEENE ALMENAS NEWS EDITOR
The city of Ormond Beach broke ground on a new $2.9 million reuse water project at Breakaway Trails on Thursday, April 18. The project will demolish the existing early 1990s reuse storage tanks and pumping facilities, as well as the water tower, and replace them with a 2 million gallon pre-stressed concrete ground storage tank and a new pump station, according to a press release. The new system will operate jointly with Hunters Ridge’s system, and will provide storage and pumping for residents in the western portion of Ormond Beach’s reuse water service area. The St. Johns River Water Management District aided the city’s project cost by granting $792,000. McMahan Construction, of DeLand, was awarded the contract for the project, which the city expects to be completed by January 2020. “Some folks may not think that reuse water is very sexy, but to me and to anybody that cares about the environment, it really is a great thing,” Ormond Beach Mayor Bill Partington said. He said he’s proud of the city for taking the lead in providing reuse water, because reuse water gener-

ally costs less than other systems, reduces fertilizer use and impact to the Halifax River, and reduces stress on drinking water supply. In the Breakaway Trails area, reuse water is also used for fire suppression, Partington said. City Commissioner Susan Persis reminded people that April is water conservation month, and that one of the ways to conserve water is by expanding reuse water systems. “The fewer gallons of water we put into the Halifax River, the better our water quality will be,” Persis said. The guest speaker for the groundbreaking ceremony was Karl Hankin, the SJRWMD division of projects director. He said projects like this help reduce the amount of water pumped out of the aquifer for irrigation. It also lessens the amount of harmful nutrients in the Halifax River. Hankin said conservation is one of SJRWMD’s top priorities, and that the district has made great strides toward it. From 1995-2017, Hankin said, water use in the district has decreased by 13% while population increased by 44%. “The district is pleased to be a funding partner in this important project that offers these benefits,” Hankin said.

In 2016, the Florida Department of Transportation determined the area to be dangerous after observing pedestrians standing in the middle turn lane, waiting for traffic to clear. A meeting was held on Oct. 27, 2016, between FDOT, the city of Ormond Beach and the public to provide input on ideas to improve safety. Wharton spoke about her concerns at an informational meeting on April 8 about the planned Publix renovation. She said she’d like to see a crosswalk with a flashing light or, better yet, a stop light at Old Kings Road. At the 2016 FDOT meeting, the representatives said that Nova Road does not qualify for a pedestrian crossing with flashing lights like the one at Grind Gastropub on West Granada Boulevard because Avante at it has three lanes in each direction. The stretch of North Nova Road between Sterthaus Drive and Wilmette Avenue has three lanes going in each direction, with a turn lane in the middle. There are no medians, and people can veer into the turn lane to turn left or right at any point. It’s also a place for pedestrians for play “Frogger” crossing the road. There’s Avante, a skilled nursing facility, and Shadow Lake Apartments on the east side, while on the west side is The Trails Shopping Center. Plus, the Ormond Renaissance Condominium is being built on Sterthaus Drive. The city and FDOT, in a yearslong project, has sought answers for the problem, and a local resident is adamant about getting something done after witnessing an accident.

The FDOT representatives said people do not walk to the lights at Granada Boulevard and Sterthaus Avenue to cross the road. It’s almost a half-mile between intersections. The city was hoping for input from businesses and the public at the meeting, but there was a very light turnout. There was, however, a person who had recently witnessed a person in a wheelchair getting hit by a car. “It was horrific,” she said. Any solutions will not be coming in the near future. FDOT is
Via mail-in ballot, voters will decide commission term lengths and term limits How the upcoming May 1 special election could alter how Ormond Beach conducts elections. JARLEENE ALMENAS NEWS EDITOR
The upcoming special election will decide more than just whether a half-cent sales tax will pass countywide — Ormond Beach voters will also get a say on how City Commission elections are conducted, and how long officials can be in office. Ballots for Ormond residents will feature four additional referendum questions. The first asks if terms of office should be increased from two years (how it stands currently) to four years. The second question proposes staggering terms of office, meaning the mayoral and two commission seats will be up for election in the next general election, and the other two commission seats will be up for election in the following midterm election.
However, to pass the staggering of terms, voters must also vote for four-year terms. If the four-year term referendum fails, the staggering referendum will be null. The third referendum question proposes the city participate in a primary election if there are more than two candidates for any commission race. This one can pass on its own, without needing yes votes on the other ballot questions. The final question on the ballot proposes term limits. If it passes, no commissioner or mayor can serve more than three four-year terms. It would not affect a commissioner wanting to run for mayor after his three terms were up. For this referendum to pass, voters would need to approve four-year terms. Lisa Lewis, Volusia County supervisor of elections, said what’s important is that people can vote for what they want. If they don’t want to vote on a question because they don’t understand it, or simply don’t want to participate in that particular referendum, they don’t have to.
“It doesn’t invalidate what they did vote for,” Lewis said. “If they want to vote on only one of the questions, and not the others, that is fine also.” The ballots will be mailed on May 1. This is one of the first all mail-in elections Lewis remembers in recent county history.
“We already have term limits. They’re called elections, a healthy exercise in our democracy.”
LOOKING TO THE PAST
JEFF BOYLE, former city commissioner
The city of Ormond Beach has had four year terms in the past, albeit very briefly. In 1993, a referendum for increasing the two-year terms of office to four-year terms passed. By 1999, the referendum was reversed with a 56% majority, as 1,462 votes were cast in favor of returning to two-year terms, and 1,142 votes were cast against the reversal, Lewis said. During that time, four commissioners served a four-year term: the late David Hood, current Volusia County School Board member Carl Persis, David Schecter and Jeff Boyle. Boyle said in an email that he and Ed Kelley were elected to a
two-year term in the 1993 elections while Hood, Persis and Schecter were elected to four-year terms, as staggering took effect. In the 1997 election, Boyle was re-elected for a four-year term, along with the late Frank Gillooly, who defeated Kelley. Gillooly wouldn’t complete his four-year term, however, as he resigned after two years to unsuccessfully run for mayor against Persis. Boyle, the last commissioner to serve a four-year term, said he led the 1999 referendum initiative because he believed the wording of the question led voters to
believe four-year terms were already in place, and that they were just voting to stagger them. “I have always been against four-year terms for Ormond Beach commissioners,” Boyle said in an email. “Two-year terms are adequate for the State Legislature and the U.S. Congress. Elections for every seat every two years provides a healthy examination of changing city issues and provide greater accountability from our elected officials.” He also believes staggering elections would give greater influence to campaign contributions, which are “already a growing problem,” he said. Persis said that, having served in the city, County Council and now School Board, what makes the most sense is staggered fouryear terms. Staggered two-year terms could be argued for, but Persis said that would mean yearly elections that would cost a lot of money and result in low voter turnout. More than 2.7 million soldiers fought in Vietnam. Now, four decades after the war ended, only about 750,000 are left. In six to 10 years, Vietnam veterans will be a rarity, said Bob Adkins, team leader of the Vietnam Veterans of America Daytona Beach Chapter 1048’s educational division. He and a panel of seven others spoke about their experiences during the war in front of a group of Seabreeze High School students on Monday, April 22. It’s important that the educational division visit schools and tell their stories, Adkins said to the students. “We, at this time in our life, do not want this ever forgotten,” Adkins said. “It needs to be passed on to your generation, to understand what we went through and what it takes to run a country and keep a country free.” This is what Seabreeze High School U.S. history teacher Tanner Norvell hoped his students would grasp with a firsthand resource. While Norvell can show his students videos and talk about the events that unfolded during the war, he wasn’t there. But those veterans were, he explained. “I think it’s a cool lesson,” Norvell said. “I think that is something they get to experience firsthand from people who were actually there.” By examining the past, Norvell said, students will better understand the events that have happened recently or are ongoing today, such as the homecomings of soldiers from Afghanistan. It can help put into perspectives what soldiers are going through now, he added. When asked by a student about the toughest decisions each of the veterans ever made, Ken Kinsler said it was volunteering to

Prototype bookstore opens The new Barnes & Noble at Tomoka Town Center has a pleasant, contemporary look, with its open design, oak bookshelves and comfortable reading areas, and management hopes it becomes a gathering place. “We want you to sit down, read and talk to each other,” said Store Manager David Michelet at a recent media sneak-peak. It’s the company’s new prototype store, the first in Florida. Though smaller than the recently closed Barnes and Noble on International Speedway Boulevard, it doesn’t appear that way as low-profile bookshelves allow a view of the entire store. Frank Morabito, vice president of stores, called the smaller store more flexible with an emphasis on local interest and authors, and said bookstores are not going out of style. There’s also a selection toys and games, vinyl records, journals and gift items for readers. There are reading areas in addition to seating at a Starbucks in the store, plus a children’s section with planned weekly story times. The store is located at 1115 Cornerstone Blvd., Suite C. Dear Editor: So after you “dine” at one of these food trucks, where does one go if nature calls? The restaurant industry calls them “bathroom customers.” When I designed restaurant kitchens back in the 1980s, the square footage cost, exclusive of the property, was about $300. Restaurants pay very high workers’ compensation, must provide for 2/3 restrooms, carry product liability insurance, pay taxes, etc. And food trucks? What do they pay? If the commissioners want to even the playing field, designate one location for all food trucks, pave it, provide PortO-Potties, waste receptables, parking, lighting, etc. Let the city charge each truck operator rent and verify they have product liability and workers’ comp — Additionally Insured Notification. people who pay the taxes, do not need more taxes. And we, the people who elected you, object to expensive special elections, with voting by mail, at a time designed to sneak in special interest objectives. We don’t want our elected officials promoting the idea of term limits, when what they really have in mind is extending their terms. We have term limits, and two years is the term. I have to laugh at analogy made by Mr. Sharples, who undoubtedly thought he was being very clever, by suggesting we dumbbells “look at the half-cent sales tax like they’re at a half-time of a basketball game and need to know the value of passing it.” Great analogy, except it is incomplete. We know that no points are scored unless someone shoots. And we know there are no points scored unless the shot goes down. This shot by our tax hungry politicos is not going down. What I hope goes down is a clean sweep of these players at the next time we have the opportunity to impose some real term limits.

No to sales tax Dear Editor: The article titled “This is our best chance” is disturbing. “The good news,” says Joe Yarbrough, “is that the cities and county are working to educate the public together.” You’ve got it wrong, Joe. Cut fluoride and save money Dear Editor: We are told that if the referendum passes, water quality projects will be a top priority. I was disappointed when I attended the Ormond Beach meeting on water quality. The five people that sat at my table came to that meeting, filled
out a questionnaire expressing their concern about the city adding fluoride to our drinking water. Even though people at other tables expressed the same concern, our concerns were not addressed. I buy toothpaste and oral rinse that contains fluoride. These and fluoride treatments offered by dentists have resulted in a decrease in tooth decay in our population. Those products that contain fluoride always have the warning: “Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.” Knowing the risks of ingesting fluoride, which are well documented, I would never choose to drink the poison. However, because it is in the city water, I am rinsing my vegetables in it, bathing in it, etc. Sadly, my dog has to drink fluoridated water for no benefit because it passes from her tongue to her belly, bypassing her teeth! The half-cent sales tax, we are told, will also go to road reconstruction. The big heavy HazMat trucks that bring the fluoride to our water plants add to the need of road repair. Those trucks may pollute our environment as they drive along our highways. There is the expense of cleaning up leaks from the holes burned into the pavement by the chemical, which has happened. There is always the risk of the trucks being in a crash with disastrous results. I suggest that the money spent on adding fluoride, the money spent on cleaning up fluoride spills, and road damage caused by the HazMat

That’s difficult the way elections are structured now, Partington said. Officials could get voted out before seeing a project or initiative through. “It’s just such a short length of time that makes it difficult to get anything done, and you’re constantly running for re-election in that short period of time,” Partington said. He also questioned the city’s decision to place the referendum on a mail-in ballot. Partington isn’t concerned with voter turnout, as people vote by mail during regular elections anyway. “I’m interested to see exactly how it goes, because I feel like as a country we’re moving more toward convenience-oriented voting, whether its internet, or phone or mail,” Partington said. One of the dog owners told police that the man told her he was a “dog person” and to let the dogs out. She said that the man told her he had been bit, but didn’t appear to be having an issue, according to the police report. She said all dogs are up to date on their shots, and that this was an uncommon event.
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? 5 p.m. — First block of Warwick Avenue Animal complaint. A 61-yearold Daytona Beach man called police to tell them that he had been attacked by three dogs while giving a quote on electrical work. He said he was at the hospital being treated for a dog bite to his right thigh and right testicle. The man told police he thought the dogs were outside when he entered the home, but that they started jumping on him and at least one bit him. The dogs in question include a Boston terrier, a miniature schnauzer and a mixed breed dog.

DRIVE-THRU SHOCK 10:46 p.m. — 100 block of South Nova Road Fraud. A police officer found
himself responding to a call at a local fast food restaurant’s drive-thru after an employee called for fraudulent activity. Once the officer arrived, the employee at the window told him that the employee had recently been given a fake $50 bill. The employee confronted the 23-year-old passenger who’d passed him the bill, and who appeared confused and asked to have the fake bill back, according to a police report. The employee did not give the passenger the food he ordered, and he and his friend
left the establishment. Police later interviewed them, and the passenger said he had unintentionally passed a counterfeit bill. He explained that he had gone to a festival recently, and had sold his ticket while leaving the festival to a man who gave him the $50 bill. He wasn’t aware it was fake.

REPEAT OFFENDER 1:46 a.m. — 900 block of South Atlantic Avenue Fleeing from law enforcement. A Port Orange woman fled town after she was found sleeping in her vehicle. This wasn’t her first run from the law: She had a warrant out of North Carolina for fleeing and eluding.
Police approached the woman after receiving a call, and she told an officer that she had been planning on working out but chose to take a nap in her car instead. When asked for her license, she said she left it inside the gym because she had to create a new membership. She provided police with her name instead, but no records of that name were found. After the officer told her that he could work with her if she didn’t have a driver’s license, the woman put her car in drive and fled. Daytona Beach officers tried to stop her, but she managed to lose them too.

WILSON AND WILSON 5 1
After losing close games to Deltona and powerhouse Spruce Creek, Seabreeze’s softball team bounced back with a 9-7 victory over Pine Ridge on April 18 at Pine Ridge High School. It was the Sandcrabs’ ninth win of the season.

For Mainland’s Scott and Alexa Wilson, flag football is more than a game. It’s about family. RAY BOONE SPORTS EDITOR
A
lot of memories are stashed in Buccaneers football coach Scott Wilson’s office at Mainland High School. Old trophies, cards and pictures cover nearly every inch of available space on his desk and bookshelves. On the shelf behind his desk is a medium-sized display board with dozens of photographs of past Mainland football and flag football players. But tucked in the bottom right corner of that poster, is an old, faded photo. In it is Scott’s “heart and soul,” his 2-year-old daughter, Alexa Wilson, stumbling around the practice field at Mainland with Scott attempting to strap a yellow flag around her tiny waist. The moment, captured nearly 12 years ago, seemed to foreshadow what was to come for the Wilson family — who all eat, sleep and breathe football, and bleed the Buccaneer’s blue and gold. Scott is the head coach of the Mainland flag football team, a role he’s served in since 2003. Lex, as her father affectionately calls her, is the Buccaneers’ starting quarterback A NATURAL
Lex has played football for most of her life. She played pick up against her two brothers and the rest of the neighborhood boys. And during most summers and weekends, the Wilsons would host flag football tournaments from sun up to sun down. Scott noticed something different about his daughter even
then: her ability to throw the ball, her quick decision-making and her competitive streak. All things learned from the countless hours spent watching her dad coach Mainland’s boys varsity team. Scott said he estimated that Lex has attended roughly 500 of those practices. By the time she was in eighth grade, Lex was taking snaps at quarterback for the flag football team during practice. “It’s just come naturally to her,” Scott said. But what has come the most naturally is her ability to take constructive criticism — especially from her father. COACH VS. DAD
Lex, a 14-year-old freshman, made her high school flag football debut on March 7 against Atlantic. For the first offensive series, Scott called a double pass. Lex was supposed to receive the first pass and then launch a throw downfield. It was a play they’d drilled over and over again in practice. But instead of keeping her eye on the ball, she was already looking downfield for an open receiver — and she dropped the ball. The next play ended with the ball in the dirt, and the Buccaneers punted the ball away without gaining a single yard. Scott was furious. He screamed at her all the way to the bench. “Dang, why is he yelling at me so bad for?” Lex thought to herself. She responded by connecting on 12-of-18 passes for 117 yards, 4 touchdowns and a 31-0 victory. “It’s amazing how well she takes me as a coach,” Scott said.
2
Mainland’s softball team picked up its second win of the season with a 20-5 victory over Father Lopez on April 12 at Father Lopez Catholic High School. The Buccaneers’ last win, which was also against Father Lopez, was on March 7.

Seabreeze’s baseball team won its sixth game of the season on Monday, April 22, after the Sandcrabs defeated New Smyrna Beach 4-3 in nine innings at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
Mainland coach Scott Wilson talks with his daughter, Alexa Wilson, on the sideline during a game against Matanzas.
“There’s sometimes where I get so upset with her and I call her out. That’s the moment were I’m a coach and not dad. I’m her coach, and I’m tougher on her than I am anybody else on the team. But she wants to get better from those mistakes. She’s very, very competitive in everything that she does, and she works hard for it.” It’s not always yelling and screaming, though. In the Buccaneers’ game against Matanzas on April 2, Lex threw off her back foot and the pass was intercepted — her first of the season. Scott was calm on the sideline. “What did you learn?” he said. She corrected the error by completing 15-of-23 passes for 133 yards and threw her 20th touchdown of the season to help the Buccaneers come out with the win. “We’re so close that he can yell at me on the football field and we’ll go home and still be best friends,” Lex said. “He knows he can get onto me because that’s what I need to get better. I need to get my head in the game.”
She added: “Football means business. I’m not the kind of person who just plays football for the heck of it. I want to win, too. I want to compete.” Scott is tough on all of his children — biological or otherwise. “If those kids know you’re invested in them, just like your own children, they will be willing to do whatever it takes to get better,” he said. “Because they know that at the end of the day, you love them.” A BLESSING
As Scott sat in the car on the way to a flag football game mid season, he whispered a prayer to God. He couldn’t help but feel thankful for the opportunity he’s had this past season to coach his daughter — a dream he’s had since he first strapped that old yellow flag on her all those years ago. “She comes from a thick line of Mainland blood. To see her put on the blue and gold, that’s special to me,” he said. “Whatever’s running through my blood as a football player, it’s running through her blood, too.”

Seabreeze girls track’s Ella Chandler and Kimberly Collins were the top competitor for the Sandcrabs at the 3A District 6 meet on April 16. Chandler took second in the 400-meter dash and third in the 800-meter run, and Collins won gold in the high jump. In addition, Tania Bolden earned bronze in the shot put.

The Sandcrabs’ Shane Brownrigg was the top boys track competitor at districts. Brownrigg finished third in the 1,600-meter run and fourth in the 3,200-meter run. Send High 5 stories to Ray Boone at ray@palmcoastobserver.com.

ainland’s football team held its first spring practice on the afternoon of Monday, April 22, at Mainland High School. D’Andre McMillian showed up, ready to work. But this time was different. McMillian, who starred at running back the past couple of years for the Buccaneers, was no longer a player for Mainland. He was a teacher. McMillian is set to graduate for Mainland in May. In June, he’ll be heading to Murray, Kentucky, for summer football practice at Division I program Murray State. But on Monday, McMillian was giving back to his former team, instructing the next generation on what it takes to survive as a Buccaneers football player. “Now I’m on the other side. I get to teach them all that I learned,” he said. “They’re going to be good next year. They’ve got a lot of potential.”

Remembering Ryck Hundredmark JARLEENE ALMENAS NEWS EDITOR
O
rmond Beach resident Ryck Hundredmark lived to make others smile. Whether it was through his sarcastic sense of humor, tireless work ethic, passion for volunteering or dedication to his family, Hundredmark gave parts of his soul to the people and projects he cared deeply about. A volunteer with Ormond Beach MainStreet since 2006, as well as its board president for two terms, Hundredmark put in almost 500 hours of service to the organization each year. As for his family, his stepson Richard Vincik said Hundredmark was always paying close attention to their needs — especially those of Vincik’s mother and Hundredmark’s wife, Nancy Bradley Hundredmark. “He was a loving, caring person,” Vincik said. “He really was kind of a rock. You could always depend on him. Always. No matter what.” Born September 8, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, Hundredmark died at 76 years old on Tuesday, April 16, at AdventHealth Daytona, a few days after he was admitted due to difficulty breathing and a rapid heartrate. Though Hundredmark was currently battling his second round of lymphoma, his death happened suddenly. He had been at Vincik’s home in Sanford just days before. On Sunday, April 14, Vincik and Hundredmark watched Tiger Woods win the Masters Tournament. Hundredmark was an avid golfer himself. His family didn’t expect to lose him, Vincik said. His passing has been extremely difficult. Ormond MainStreet Executive Director Julia Truilo said Hun-
dredmark was both a mentor and a friend to her. He had been the president of the board when she began working with the organization. He taught her the ropes, and over the years, the two became close. “It was a relationship on a couple of levels that I don’t know how I’m going to replace,” Truilo said. She said Hundredmark was passionate about MainStreet, to which he dedicated 12 years of his life, but was also willing to have fun and smile. He kept a positive spirit about everything in life, she added. On festival days, he’d arrive to the event early in the morning and stay until late in the evening, no matter how tired he was. “He was dedicated, and he really spent a lot of heart and energy on whatever he said he would do, he’d do,” Truilo said. He was instrumental in the development of West Granada’s streetscape, Truilo said. Hundredmark was also the chair of MainStreet’s events and promotion committee, and was integral in the creation of the Ormond Beach Arts District, and the farmers market. He served as a member of the city’s board of adjustments and appeals, the Brownfield advisory board, and the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce leadership committee. He was also a member of the Historical Society and recipient of the 2017 Ormond Beach Mayor’s Award for civic engagement. He could be gruff on the exterior, she recalled, as he had been a successful auto dealership general manager. But his kindness was his guiding principle. “It was all on the outside,” Truilo said. “On the inside was the nicest possible person in the world. He cared very deeply about his family and his friends, and what he felt he could make a dif-

ference about.” One of the fondest memories Vincik has of his stepfather is seeing him interact with his five grandchildren. Anytime they were at a restaurant, or at the house, and one of them would make a peep, Hundredmark would pick them up and walk around with them, Vincik said. “Not many men do that, and not many grandfathers do that,” Vincik said. “Whatever needed to be done, he would do it.” His grandchildren called him grandpop. Vincik said he will be tremendously missed. “He was the most selfless person that I know,” Vincik said. Hundredmark is survived by his wife, Nancy Bradley Hundredmark, his daughters Mary Jane Hundredmark and Jill Christman, his stepchildren William Vincik and Richard Vincik, his nine grandchildren, his three siblings, Alice Lewis, Patrick and Robert, and his two teacup poodles, Bo and Bella.
