Mainland hires Travis Roland BRIAN MCMILLAN EXECUTIVE EDITOR
Travis Roland has been hired as the new head football coach at Mainland High School, where he was previously a player and assistant coach. He most recently coached Flagler Palm Coast High School, since being hired in 2016. He will continued coaching FPC for two more months before making the switch. “Thank you, Coach,” Flagler Schools tweeted on April 9. “We know how hard that pull to go ‘home’ is. Thank you for all you’ve done for the FPCHS Bulldog FAMILY.” Coach Jarrett Lewis tweeted his congratulations to Roland and said, “The Bucs couldn’t have made a better choice and I know that the city has been waiting for this moment. I couldn’t be prouder of you lil’ bro and I know that generations will feel the benefit of this one!” Roland recently announced on Twitter that Victor Campbell is joining his staff as offensive line coach.
Judith Bennett, of Port Orange, volunteers every week at the Halifax Humane Society. Lilly doesn’t mind.

Last year, Amber Wilcox suffered a tragic accident when a glass of hot caramel exploded on her right hand and legs, burning over 20% of her body. On her “burniversary,” she was able to meet the first responders who saved her life: Paramedic Matt McGee, EMT Carina Simonsen, Lt. Jeff Mullinax and firefighter Chris McClure. “To say I’m humbly grateful for this crew would be an understatement — and I wouldn’t be here today without the work they put in every day to keeping their communities safe,” she said.
