Our Mission

We prepare all students to excel in college and beyond, and provide our students with an education integrated with the spiritual and moral truths that will guide them through their entire lives.

St. Vincent Pallotti High School is a coeducational, Catholic, secondary, college preparatory school in the Archdiocese of Washington. Celebrating more than 100 years of excellence, Pallotti was founded in 1921 by the Pallottine Sisters. We are located in historic Laurel, Maryland. We attract students from Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties as well as Baltimore and the District of Columbia.

Pallotti offers students an ideal combination of an extensive curriculum and a diverse selection of extracurricular activities in a small setting where each student is treated as an individual, possessing unique talents and abilities.

St. Vincent Pallotti High School offers a broad and challenging curriculum in a co-educational environment. Pallotti students receive a college preparatory education that reinforces critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving taught by an inspiring and innovative faculty.

Graduation with Honors All of the above requirements still apply. Students must also take at least 8 Honors courses, of which at least 2 must be Advanced Placement courses. Students also must maintain a 3.5 GPA or above.

Christian Service

Retreats

Students must complete a minimum of 20 hours during each year enrolled at Pallotti.

Students must attend their class retreat each year they are enrolled at Pallotti.

Specialized Academic Programs Our academic programs are designed to meet the needs of a wide range of students with diverse interests, learning styles, and abilities. Each student’s schedule is tailored to the individual’s talents. A student may be scheduled in Honors in one subject area but be placed in College Prep in another. Students are not locked into any track and may move up to College Prep or Honors depending on their performance.

Pallotti offers specialized programs in science, engineering, and visual and performing arts.

ARTS ACADEMY The Arts Academy provides students, with exceptional skills in visual and performing arts to pursue entrance into college and university arts programs. Pallotti provides intensive pre-professional training in visual arts, music (vocal and instrumental), theatre, and dance combined with a college preparatory curriculum.

Students have a private lesson or studio time as well as rehearsals for performances.

ACCELERATED SCIENCE AT PALLOTTI (ASAP) Accelerated Science at Pallotti (ASAP) is designed to allow students with a strong interest and aptitude in science and mathematics to complete the core science curriculum ahead of schedule and take more elective and AP science courses as upperclassmen. The top 15% of incoming 9th graders in science and math are invited to apply to this program. Students take a special Honors Biology course during Freshman year that includes designing and conducting an experiment throughout the length of the school year. ASAP students can begin taking AP Biology as early as their sophomore year and AP Chemistry in their junior year.

ENGINEERING The Engineering program employs a hands-on approach that teaches students to think and problem solve as engineers using curriculum from Project Lead the Way. Students learn essential engineering skills such as drawing, 3D modeling in Autodesk Inventor, and statistics. The engineering design process is further explored through computer programming, circuit building, digital fabrication, and robotics. Students gain a strong foundation in the math and science principles they will need to pursue higher studies and/or a career in engineering.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT One of our greatest strengths is our small-school care and concern for every student's development. We have an environment in which students are fully supported by our caring faculty, counselors, coaches, staff, and administrators. As such, below are a sampling of the many support options we offer our students.

THE PALLOTTI PROTECTED HOUR Our school day ends at 2:30 PM; then, from 2:30 – 3:30 PM, we have the Pallotti “Protected Hour.” During that after-school hour, our teachers are available for individual tutoring or study sessions. No sports practices and no play or musical practices will be held in that hour. Instead, it is daily time dedicated to the academic improvement of our students.

PALLOTTI TRANSITIONS FOR FRESHMEN This one semester course is designed to successfully transition freshmen to the “Pallotti Way.” Students are provided the tools they will need to be successful academically and socially, as well as learning about the Pallottine traditions of service and commitment to excellence. Learning Center STEPHEN J. EDMONDS LEARNING CENTER The Stephen J. Edmonds Learning Center at St. Vincent Pallotti High School enables students who have been diagnosed with mild to moderate Specific Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder or other related physical and/or emotional disabilities to access a rigorous college prep academic program while receiving appropriate accommodations and support. Students who are enrolled in the direct service program receive explicit instruction in executive function skills and test-taking strategies while receiving support and remediation in literacy and math skills.

Additionally, both our direct and indirect service programs provide case management in the form of on-going communication with classroom teachers regarding the implementation of classroom and testing accommodations, progress monitoring and the development of self-advocacy skills.

Enrollment in the Learning Center program is through application to the Admissions Office. There is a fee for the program, depending upon the frequency with which a student receives service. Documentation of a qualifying disability is required for applications to be reviewed.

School Spirit

Everyone does their part, both teachers and students, to do whatever it takes to make our school a place where each and every person is an important part of what makes Pallotti special.

We are connected to each other and to our school. School pride is the vehicle that lets us learn to believe in something bigger than ourselves. Our school has value. It is our home away from home, our community. We are proud of our school and our students: past, present and future.

School pride is a feeling deep down inside of us. We feel it each morning when we walk through the front doors of Pallotti. It's pride, it's caring, it's treating each other with respect and it holds a very special place in our hearts! So, even though you can't define it in one word, you know it when you see it, hear it and feel it. It's alive and well!

Athletics

Through athletics we promote the importance of teamwork, effort and commitment. Pallotti Athletics is highly competitive and committed to equipping student-athletes to reach their fullest potential. Sportsmanship, respect, dignity in the face of adversity and maintaining the integrity of the game are more important than the outcome of the contest.

Extracurricular Activities

Offering more than 20 extracurricular activities, it is our belief that through the exploration of extracurricular activities, students will grow in character and depth of thinking. They can, through these activities, become better persons, able to contribute to their community in a variety of enriching ways. We encourage each Pallotti student to take initiative to actively participate and strive towards personal accomplishments.

Campus Ministry

St. Vincent Pallotti said, "Seek God, and you will find God". Taking these words to heart, we help students to search for God in all aspects of their lives with the goal of helping them grow in their faith. In collaboration with the Religion Department, students learn to integrate the lessons they’ve learned in their classes with their own spiritual journey for the glory of God, the common good of the world, and their own personal growth.

Guidance & College Counseling

Our comprehensive counseling program includes such highlights as, college planning all four years, academic advising, schedule planning, annual parent information meetings by grade level, individual student appointments for each grade level, and classroom sessions on a variety of topics.
